Ireland is so close to my heart and I am privileged to be born and live in such a unique, friendly, diverse, lively piece of heaven on earth. I love to travel and explore other corners of the world but really, I love coming home. There is nothing like flying over Ireland and catching that first glimpse of our lush green fields to make my spirts soar. This is the passion that I put into designing trips for our travellers. I want them to experience Ireland as I do and to feel like they are coming home.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"From Dublin to Belfast to Cork and back, north to south, east to west Wilderness Ireland specializes in providing high-end, immersive client experiences in the wilder places of Ireland. I am committed to providing a personalised, professional and innovative approach to your trip design and to bring you a well-rounded trip experience that includes beautiful accommodations, amazing local experiences, friendly, professional, knowledgable guides and delicious fresh cuisine, not to mention an odd pint of the black stuff.
Whether your dream is hiking or biking around our amazing coastline, meeting locals and having meaningful interactions, immersing yourself in Irelands history and culture, having a once in a lifetime family adventure or just getting off the beaten track and away from it all, I promise to listen and exceed your expectations. "

How did you get involved in travel?

"I come from a varied background and have experience in sales and finance. I wanted to combine the skills I already had with the passion to showcase our amazing little green isle, and Wilderness Ireland is the perfect match. I get to design and plan adventures that bring Ireland to life for our travellers.
Ireland has some amazing history, culture and mythology, with archeology older then the pyramids! But more than that, it has its people and there are no better folks in the world to meet on your travels than the Irish. At the end of a long day out hiking the hills or exploring the wilds there is always a warm pub, a smiling face, a pint, and a yarn waiting to be told. "

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I will forever remember my first trip to Cork and to the southern-most inhabited island of Cape Clear. We had such glorious sunshine with a light breeze, perfect hiking conditions. We set off across the island along a winding path, over stiles, up rolling hills, down into sheltered valleys and to the very tip of the island. Standing there with nothing but the Atlantic Ocean to see for miles around was profound. It was like being at the end of the world. We picnicked atop, with the harbour below on one side and the ocean below on the other, everyone was silent, lost in there own thoughts, gulls swooped overhead and there was no other sound. I could have stayed there forever. "

Our guide, Dean M was super brillant. We had the best time. He made sure we had the history of each place we stopped. And he added a few along the way he found after getting to know us better. We felt like we had first class service the entire trip. If I had to pick, the Aran Island trip was my favorite.
The food was exceptional. Every meal delicious. Saying good by to Dean at the end of our week together was like saying good bye to an old friend. Thank you for a great trip.

Donncha is a fantastic guide! We couldn’t have been in better hands. Louise needs to get some experience in scheduling tours. Very aggressive timeline. BUT, we loved our Ireland experience!

Hi Dan,
Thank you for leaving such a positive comment and review on our guide Donncha, he is a great guy with so much knowledge, charm and experience, we are very lucky to have him.
I appreciate the feedback with regards the packed itinerary, the balance between fitting in all a clients requests and allowing time to slow down and take in the pace of Ireland can be a challenge.
I am glad to hear that overall you had a wonderful trip.

Donncha was the highlight of the trip. His knowledge and love of Ireland history, geography, politics, music, etc. deepened our experience. His singing was an unexpected treat and helped define Irish culture. My favorite memories include the Burren, Cliffs of Moher and Dingle. We had a great trip.

Great trip! Donncha was such a wonderful guide . His knowledge, witt ,sense of humor and passion for his country made for a great trip. Not to mention his singing of his repertoire of Irish songs.
I enjoyed our hike of the cliffs of Mohr as well as the walk up the gap. Cape Clear was also a special place. We were fortunate to have great weather to enjoy all of the places we went.
All of the accommodations were good as well as the suggested restaurants. The owners and staff of all the accommodations were great. My favorite was the Quay house .

We had an amazing time. Warner was the perfect guide: knowledgable, easygoing, fun, funny, flexible, everything! We all missed him so much when he dropped us off in Dublin, like we had left one of our family members! Our favorite place was Adare Manor, along with the falconry and archery there. But all of the planned activities were great fun, including the ghost tour in Kildare, the bike tour in Kilkenny, etc. We will be back on day to explore the north of Ireland!
