Traveling by car is the quickest way to get to Oudtshoorn. This route takes you through the succulent Karoo and the roads will wind you through scenic mountain passes. There are also sightseeing opportunities along the way. Private transfers are your best option—but car rental is also available in L’Agulhas.

The route to Oudtshoorn will take you via the R319, N2, R324, and R62. Swellendam, one of South Africa’s oldest towns, is a good place to stop at for historical sightseeing or lunch. Barrydale, famous for their milkshakes and views at Tradouw Pass, is also a great stopover. The various cellars at Calitzdorp will appeal to travelers interested in wine tasting.

After arriving in Oudtshoorn, you can get around by private transfer, rental car or on foot.
