From start to finish our Morocco experience was one to remember. Nihad was professional and prompt with any questions or actions required. The hotels and riads we stayed in were fascinating and well chosen, particularly for location. Our city guides were informative and knowledgeable and helped us understand the cities and sites we visited. We had two drivers, and the second one in particular, Abelhadi, made us feel welcome and our long journeys safe and enjoyable. Moroccan hospitality is warm and we would love to explore it more.

Blue Hotel Fagrilundur
Bláskógabyggd

We stayed two nights at the Blue Hotel. Our room was nice, clean, and comfortable enough for two people. They offered breakfast, which they called continental-style, but it was definitely more than that. They had a great coffee machine that served everything from lattes to espressos to hot chocolate. They also had bacon, beans, and a scrambled egg station for hot food. The breakfast included the usual cereals, yogurt, meats and cheeses, along with a variety of breads and mini pancakes with different toppings. There were hot tubs outside, and many guests used them. The hotel provided each guest with a fluffy robe and slippers, which was a nice touch.

Authenticity & Character
The Blue Hotel had a typical minimalist Scandinavian style, yet it was comfortable. Their reception area and breakfast room were in a separate building, designed in a more log-cabin style, but very charming.
Location
There was a charming restaurant called Mika across the street, and we dined there both nights. The tomato farm was next door, and we had lunch at the new wine bar and cafe. We shared a delicious appetizer and their famous tomato soup with bread. Location was great as it was within 15 minutes of waterfalls, geysers, and our lagoon to take a wonderful soak.
Staff
All of the staff were friendly and eager to assist.

Our room was sufficient and offered enough space for two. It was clean and comfortable. I still can't get over not having a top sheet or washcloths. It must be a European thing, and I will remember to pack washcloths. The staff was excellent. When we needed a cab, we just went to the front desk; they pressed a button, and a cab driver arrived in the lobby to pick us up within minutes. Breakfast was included with our stay. There was a variety of cereals, yogurts, meats, and cheeses, wonderful bread including their rye bread, a tasty tuna salad, and I happened to like pickled herring, which was available every morning. They also had hard-boiled eggs and some fruit. It was definitely enough to start your day and get you through.

Authenticity & Character
This appeared to be a contemporary hotel. It had an elevator, a breakfast room, and a place for happy hour, but no food was served after breakfast.
Location
It could have been more centrally located. Reykjavik is a walkable city, but we had severe winds and blowing snow, which made it a little more difficult to walk to the areas we wanted to visit.
Staff
The staff was friendly, kind, and personable, and their English was flawless. I needed medication kept refrigerated, and they accommodated me.

My day tour of the Subterranean River NP (mangrove and cave tours) was very nice — the highlight of my visit to Puerto Princesa!

My trip in a “public van” was a nightmare — one of the worse travel experiences of my life! I was the 10th of 10 oassengers, squeezed into a temporary seat with no seat belt or headrest squeezed between two oversized men pressing hard against me on my sides! This was a 6 hour ride — I feel lucky to have lived through it !

My 2 days in El Nido went as planned — 2 days island hopping with snorkeling at each island including lunch and some caving. I was not picked up by a tricycle as expected, but by a tour agent on foot, as I was in easy walking distance of the gathering spot.

I was picked up on time for my ride to the El Nido airpprt and again at the Manila airport for my ride to the hotel. I used the Grab app to visit downtown Nanila before deoarting for Guam :-)

Mouad is not just a driver; he’s a guide, a storyteller, a problem‑solver, and someone who genuinely cares about creating an exceptional experience.

He planned our route with so much thought, balancing adventure with comfort. We explored the Atlas Mountains, wandered through ancient kasbahs, watched the landscape shift into the vast Sahara, and woke up to sunrise over the dunes—each moment more magical than the last. Mouad always knew the best viewpoints, the most authentic food stops, and the perfect timing to avoid crowds.

What stood out most was his kindness and professionalism. He was patient, flexible, and always one step ahead—making sure we had water, adjusting plans when needed, and sharing insights about Moroccan culture, history, and daily life that made the trip feel deeply personal. Thanks to Mouad, our Morocco adventure was seamless, romantic, and full of memories we’ll carry forever. We couldn’t recommend him more highly.

We loved wandering up to the rooftop to take in the city lights and enjoy the quiet after the bustle of the medina. 🌿 **Hammam & Spa — A Highlight of the Entire Trip We booked the hammam and massage during our stay, and it was one of the most relaxing, memorable experiences of our entire trip. The hammam was authentic and soothing—warm steam, gentle exfoliation, and a feeling of being completely cared for. The massage afterward was exceptional, leaving us relaxed, refreshed, and glowing. It was the perfect romantic reset in the middle of our travels. 🌙 **Last Night — A Beautiful Farewell Returning to Riad Al Rimal at the end of our journey felt like coming back to a familiar haven. The staff remembered us, welcomed us warmly, and made our final night in Morocco feel special. We enjoyed one last rooftop moment, soaking in the atmosphere and feeling grateful for such a comforting place to end our adventure. Our trip to Japan was truly a 5-star experience from beginning to end. We traveled as three generations — my mother (70), my daughter (13), and me (43) — and the pace of the itinerary was absolutely perfect for all of us. Every accommodation reflected what we had shared as priorities, including thoughtful locations, wonderful amenities, and memorable meals. We especially appreciated the ryokans and the opportunity to experience onsen culture in such an authentic and comfortable way.

One of the most meaningful highlights of our trip was the private cooking experience in Takayama with Toma, Hisa, and Bob. Being welcomed into their home was incredibly special. They created such a warm and comfortable environment and even invited us to dine in their formal dining room. Their home is a cultural treasure, having been the birthplace of more than 6,000 babies over generations, as their family served as obstetricians for the community for decades. Sharing food, stories, and history in such a personal setting created memories we will cherish forever.

Our journey from Takayama to Kanazawa with Ku included a stop in Shirakawa-go to see the UNESCO village. Ku was an excellent driver and guide, sharing insider knowledge about the best times to visit each house and helping us avoid crowds. Her kindness and professionalism made the day feel relaxed and seamless. In Kanazawa, Megu introduced us to the local food scene, taking us to places we never would have discovered on our own and helping us navigate ordering and regional specialties. It was an incredible culinary experience and truly one of the highlights of our trip. The following morning, Megu guided us through the samurai district, beautiful gardens, and geisha district, sharing thoughtful context that made each stop feel meaningful and engaging.

Throughout the entire experience, Leny and her team were incredibly attentive and supportive. They kept us informed about where we needed to be, were always available to answer questions, and even helped recover my daughter’s retainer after it was accidentally left behind at a hotel. Their attention to detail and genuine care allowed us to fully relax and enjoy every moment.

Overall, this was an exceptional trip filled with unforgettable experiences, cultural connection, and thoughtful planning. We are deeply grateful for the care and expertise that went into creating such a special journey for our family. Highly recommend.

Her storytelling brought each location to life, providing context that deepened our appreciation for the history and traditions of the area. The pacing was perfect, allowing time to explore, ask questions, and truly take in each setting. Megu is thoughtful, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing her culture. We left with a much richer understanding of Kanazawa and memories our family will cherish. We highly recommend touring with Megu — it was truly a 5-star experience.

Our private transfer from Takayama to Kanazawa with Ku, including a stop in Shirakawa-go, was outstanding and far exceeded our expectations. Ku was an excellent driver — professional, safe, and incredibly kind — making the journey feel comfortable and relaxed for our three-generation group. The visit to Shirakawa-go, the UNESCO-listed historic village, was a highlight of the day. Ku shared thoughtful insights and insider knowledge, guiding us on the best timing to visit each house and helping us avoid the busiest crowds so we could fully enjoy the beauty and history of the village. Her familiarity with the area allowed us to experience the destination in a much more meaningful way than we could have on our own. Throughout the day, Ku was attentive, flexible, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a wonderful experience. The transfer was seamless, enjoyable, and stress-free, allowing us to focus on taking in the scenery and making special memories together. We highly recommend Ku for anyone traveling between Takayama and Kanazawa, especially if visiting Shirakawa-go along the way. Truly a 5-star experience.

Japanese Cooking Class with Local Family in Takayama Old Town
Japanese Cooking Class with Local Family in Takayama Old Town
Takayama

Our private cooking class in Takayama with Toma, Hisa, and Bob was one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip to Japan. From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us into their home with incredible warmth and hospitality, immediately making our multi-generational family feel comfortable and at ease. The experience went far beyond a typical cooking class — it was a meaningful cultural exchange. We prepared traditional dishes together while learning about local ingredients, customs, and daily life in Takayama. Toma, Hisa, and Bob were patient, engaging, and generous in sharing their knowledge, making the experience enjoyable for all three generations traveling with us. What made the experience especially unique was the setting itself. Their home is a cultural landmark, having been the birthplace of more than 6,000 babies over many generations, as their family served as obstetricians for the community for decades. Sitting together in their beautiful formal dining room to enjoy the meal we prepared felt incredibly special and personal. This experience created memories our family will treasure forever. If you are looking for an authentic, welcoming, and truly meaningful cultural experience in Japan, we highly recommend this cooking class. It was truly 5 stars.

We had private drivers on two separate occasions who were both excellent. They were timely and had clean vehicles. They were also sure to point out local highlights on the drive and restaurant recommendations.

Both of our guides were fantastic as well. They were helpful in sharing tips on the trail including challenging spots coming up and good places to break during our hike.

Overall I highly recommend booking with kimkim!

We have just returned from an extended tour of New Zealand, which we planned with the help of KimKim's New Zealand specialists, Monika and Michelle. Our trip involved two couples traveling together over thirty days, and travel to Great Barrier Island, North and South Islands, Kapiti Island and Doubtful Sound via internal airline flights, ferry, train, bus, shuttles and rental cars. Along the way we stayed in thirteen different cities and towns. Our vacation also included two multi-day backpacking (tramping) trips that we arranged ourselves and incorporated into the KimKim itinerary. In short, our vacation had many moving parts.

Happily, there was not a single hitch/glitch at any point. Every hotel was expecting us, every shuttle driver was on time. Our accommodations were clean and comfortable and located conveniently to venues, restaurants, etc. Monika's and Michelle's recommendations were all very helpful and tracked with the kind of experiences were all were looking for.

We have used KimKim services before, have recommended KimKim to our friends, and will certainly use KimKim again where we choose to do our own planning (as opposed to tour groups).

We are so happy we made this decision as we would have never been able to plan a trip with the kinds of experiences that Michelle booked for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of experiences Michelle booked for us, from visiting Doubtful Sound, to the 4 x 4 trip on a Station, to the kayak trip at the blue penguin sanctuary, to the Geo-thermal park and the experience at the Dark Sky Reserve. As fabulous as those experiences were, our absolute favorite experience was our stay at the Te Karaka Lodge. Whoa! Whoa x 10. I'm glad that you suggested that we added one more day to our trip to accommodate that extra night. We had a good trip, we enjoyed Morocco, and received excellent service from KimKim. Our local guides were all excellent. Sharif in Fez was highly knowledgeable and professional. The guide who took care of us on our camel trek was so friendly and helpful. We do not recall the name of the two guides who helped us on the ATV trek. They were fantastic. We were not accomplished at driving through sand and they helped us constantly and with good cheer. Sa'id led us on a hike through the 'monkey fingers' near Dades. He knew a lot about the area and was exuberant. That hike is listed in the itinerary as 'easy' and we were a bit concerned that it would not hold our attention as all 4 of us are accomplished hikers. The hike was NOT easy. We walked up-stream and over rocks and boulders. Perhaps Sa'id could see we were excited by a challenge and took us on that route. It was perfect! We needed a bit of help up some of the taller rocks, but all of us enjoyed our experience greatly. Our next local guide was Oosama in Marakesh. He was excellent, knew his history and territory, helpful, and showed us many things.

Our driver/guide was a very nice young man. Your itinerary suggested that our driver would be knowlegable but might have little English language skills. We found his English to be excellent. We landed during Eid and could not visit the great Mosque, so we had excellent alternatives. We visited the Chellah archaeological site. But Samah did not really know about either. He explained we should just enter and walk about. A local guide would have been far more helpful in framing and orienting things. The second stop, which included an excellent place to have lunch, was the Chellah site. Of course our driver could not come with us, but he was also unfamiliar with the site. We were told we would have to buy tickets, but we did not know why or for what. I'm not sure he knew. As it ended up, the Chellah site was absolutely perfect. The archaeological digs were explained in a guided recording and were very interesting. The gardens were nice, and lunch was excellent. But we had no way of knowing any of this before being asked to pay an entry fee. We understand that a driver is not a guide, but perhaps Kim Kim should sponsor the drivers to visit the sites so they know what to tell tourists. The same issue arose when we did visit the Mosque in Casablanca at the end of the trip. Samah had not been there, he took us inside but they would not allow him to buy our tickets (perhaps as he is not a registered guide) but after he handed us entry funds we were really confused about what to do. The ticket seller didn't help at all. We didn't know the museum was right there and free and we could see things while we waited for our formal tour. The formal tour was oddly organized (herding all different language speakers into the same group until we got inside the Mosque itself.) It would have been great to know that. My sense is that Samah will be an excellent driver/guide with a bit of help from Kim Kim in visiting the sites himself, and as he learns more about how tourists think.

The hotels were nice. The food was excellent. The Dades hotel was especially excellent. The staff did everything possible to make our stay wonderful. We did have real issues with the hotel in Marakesh, but a call to Sa'id, our local contact, and everything seemed to be taken care of. Sa'id was really helpful both before and during our trip. He helped make it a great experience.

An amazing experience not to be missed. The guides were great at assisting us if we got stuck. They provided a snowboard to try on the dunes. They took picture and videos. We enjoyed the adventure.

Hi Cynthia,

Thank you so much for your kind review. I am really happy to hear that you had a good trip and enjoyed Morocco.

It is great to know that your guides made such a positive impact. Sharif in Fes, Sa’id in Dades, and Oussama in Marrakech will be very happy to hear your feedback. I also loved reading about your hike in the Monkey Fingers. It sounds like it turned into a fun challenge and a special moment of your trip.
I am also glad you enjoyed the camel trek and ATV experience. I will make sure to share your kind words with the team.

Thank you as well for your honest feedback about the driver and the visits in Rabat and Casablanca. You are right, and your comments are very helpful. We will work on improving this so future travelers have a clearer experience at these sites.

I am happy to hear that you liked the hotels and the food, especially your stay in Dades. I am also glad Sa’id was able to help quickly when needed in Marrakech.

Thank you again for traveling with us. We really appreciate it and hope to welcome you back again in the future.

Warm Regards,
Abdel
