What you'll do

It's common to begin the excursion with hotel pickup in Puerto Natales and a 30-minute drive to Puerto Prat, where you'll meet your guide. Then, they'll likely provide you with the necessary gear, including dry suits, Neoprene shoes, gloves, and a dry bag to keep your belongings safe. Before you set off, they might walk you through a safety briefing and explain the route.

As you paddle your way through Eberhard Fjord, you can admire the views of the Andes Mountains in the distance. Also, keep your eyes open for wildlife, as it's common to spot various species of swans, ducks, and flamingoes. During your journey, you'll likely drift past Kruger Island, known as the Island of the Dead.

The excursion might include a pause in paddling, where you'll head on land for a brief trek around the area, an excellent opportunity to snap photos of you and your group with the beautiful Patagonian landscapes in the background. After the hike, it's common to kayak back to Puerto Prat, where you can enjoy a light lunch. To end the day, a guide may take you back to your hotel in Puerto Natales.

It was very windy and difficult but still so much fun! There were many beginners on our trip who did great, and one blind woman! It was definitely hard, but worth it. There is a mini hike on the island where you kayak to with amazing views of Patagonia.
