What you'll do

This small-group La Rioja adventure begins in the morning, when your guide/driver picks you up at your hotel in Logroño. Enjoy the views as you journey into the vine-covered countryside in a comfortable air-conditioned van, and listen as your guide shares stories about the history and traditions of this renowned wine-growing region.

Along the drive, you'll stop at one or two smaller, traditional wineries for in-depth tours, learning about La Rioja's unique growing methods, distinctive terroir, and ancient grape varieties (including the famous tempranillo). Discover lesser-known whites made with viura and malvasía grapes, learn the difference between Crianza and Gran Reserva wines, and taste a selection of each winery's finest vintages. You'll end at a local resturant for a traditional, multicourse Riojan lunch (accompanied by more local wines) and a celebratory toast before the scenic return drive to Logroño.

My guide, Eduardo, was incredibly kind and knowledgeable — he shared so much interesting information about the region and its history. We visited two different wineries, and both were absolutely amazing. Each was family-owned and operated, which made the visits feel personal and authentic. Eduardo handled all the driving between locations and gave great insights along the way, while the tours and tastings at each winery were led by guides who were part of the wineries themselves — a nice touch that added even more depth and character to the experience. To top it off, we stopped at a beautiful viewpoint at the end of the day — a lovely bonus that wrapped everything up perfectly.
