Tour of Tayrona National Park, Tayrona National Park

Overview

Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona (Tayrona National Park) is one of about 58 national parks in Colombia, and this protected area is known for having some of the most virgin coastal landscapes in the entire country. Indeed, it's home to one of the most iconic "postcard" destinations in Colombia: the coastal paradise of Cabo San Juan. A half-day guided tour includes visits to Tayrona's gorgeous white-sand beaches as well as rainforests further inside the park.

The tour begins with a hike in the tropical foothills near Playa Cañaveral, at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Following this is a visit to the exotic beaches of Arrecifes and La Piscina, the latter of which is ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The tour continues to Cabo San Juan and its bay of white sand surrounded by large volcanic rocks. All throughout the experience, the knowledgeable English-speaking guide will point out several species of flora and fauna in the area. The tour ends with lunch on the beach followed by some time for sunbathing and swimming.
