Hotel Lunajuim, El Chaltén

4.2 (14 reviews) · Standard
Rustic Patagonian retreat with cozy rooms, a relaxing lobby bar, and services for outdoor adventures

Overview

Located in the beautiful El Chalten area, Hotel Lunajuim is in a national park, providing breathtaking views and easy access to the nature of Southern Patagonia. You'll find the Capilla de los Escaladores and the Salto El Chorrillo Waterfall just a short drive away. The hotel is also within close proximity to Viedma Lake and Huemul Glacier, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to explore the Andes.

Hotel Lunajuim features 24 individually decorated guestrooms with down comforters and premium bedding for a cozy and comfortable stay. The private bathrooms have deep soaking bathtubs and rainfall showerheads, so you can relax after a day of adventuring. Previous Kimkim travelers have praised the hotel's cleanliness, comfort, and rustic charm. The hotel's friendly staff is also known for providing excellent support services for hiking, including helpful trail reviews, guidance, and packed lunches for your excursions.

The hotel offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a lobby and bar area perfect for unwinding. The authentic character of Hotel Lunajuim is evident in its slightly frayed edges and older amenities, which add to the charm of this older property.

This is a clean hotel in the middle of town. If you want a hotel with more amenities or a view, you need to stay elsewhere. That said, the staff was amazing. When we arrived, our assigned room was very dark and small and the manager found us another room with much more light. Thank you! Also, the staff provided great hiking and transportation information and were very accommodating. Read more

The hotel lounge was nice but the rooms were very dated and not super cozie (felt more akin to a hostel). They also requested we leave our key at the front desk whenever we left, which we weren't super comfortable with. Staff were all very friendly though. Read more

This was more of a hostel experience as I believe KimKim's normal partners were booked up. The rooms were fine. The breakfast was okay. The staff was very friendly. Location was great. For a hostel experience, I think this was good, though we usually prefer staying in nicer places. I think "luxury" is not something that is in abundance when you are in remote Patagonia though, so this was fine for us. Read more

Great place to stay. Kind of rustic rooms as are most places in Chalten. They offer great support services for hiking (helpful trail reviews and guidance/suggestions of best trails for the day given erratic weather conditions) and they offer a packed lunch service which is great if you’re on the go and don’t have time to grocery shop.
Wifi is insufficient during wind storms (super frequent) and also when the hotel is full (afternoons and evenings after hiking). Wifi is ok early AM and late...

Very nice lobby with bar.
