Day 1: Arrive, Salvador (Bahia-Brazil) to Lençóis City

Welcome to Brazil! Start your journey in Salvador da Bahia on the coast. You'll be met by a tour representative at either the Salvador airport or bus station and transferred to your accommodations in the city of Lençóis which is situated a 5-hour drive to the west in the heart of the State of Bahia, in the Chapada Diamantina region.  

Settle into your hotel, then if there's time get to know the charming town of Lençóis. Get a good night's rest, as tomorrow is your first hiking day in the Pati Valley. 

Day 2: Lençóis, Vila do Guiné, Beco

Get an early start in the morning and transfer to the beginning of the trek in the Pati Valley, a 50-mile (80-km) car trip. You'll pass through the fields of the Rio Petro and Vale do Pati Belvedere until you reach the local homestay houses where you will spend the night. 

Grab a quick bite to eat then hit the trail for your first day of hiking. You'll cross the Black River and see incredible landscapes along the 8.7-mile (14-km) adventurous hiking path.

Start your morning with a delicious breakfast in the home of a local indigenous family. The valley and surrounding areas are home to people from the Maracas and Cariris tribes who have lived in the area for millennia. Enjoy a typical local meal, then continue your expedition to the Valley of Cachoeirão to see the incredible Cachoeirão Waterfall

Today's views of the valley are some of the trip's best, and the views to the bottom of the 920 ft (280 m) waterfall are absolutely breathtaking. 

Continue to the local homestay in the valley and enjoy a delicious homemade dinner before getting a good night's rest.

Day 4: Morro do Castelo Trek

Enjoy breakfast at your homestay, then hike up to the Morro do Castelo Rock along a steep and rocky path. Cross a grotto that crosses the hill, then climb higher to the lookouts to see the trail that you'll hike in the following days. You'll ascend to 5,250 ft (1600 m), then pause at the Funis Waterfall to relax, rest your feet in the cool water, and take an energizing shower under the water's spray. 

From here, the remainder of the trail is rather steep until you reach your overnight accommodation.

Day 5: Tree Well Hike

After breakfast, say goodbye to your local homestay and head out for a beautiful hike in the valley. You'll hike through several remarkable landscapes before reaching another local homestay in the afternoon. Stop here for a meal and a natural bath in a tree well in the serene forest, then relax and enjoy the evening.

Day 6: Pati Valley to Andaraí to Lençóis

Today is your last day of hiking. Get an early start, then after breakfast head for the town of Andaraí, a traditional exit from the Pati Valley. Here, the coffee that is grown and produced in the Pati Valley is transported to be sold in other Brazilian cities. 

You'll travel along the famous "empire ascent", reaching the top for incredible views of the surrounding area. Bid farewell to the Vale do Pati paradise, then descend to the city where you'll transfer back to Lençóis, a 65-mile trip (105 km). Check in to your hotel and enjoy your last evening in the city.

Day 7: Free day in Lençóis & Transfer to Salvador, Depart

Today is your last day of adventure in the Chapada Diamantina. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then hit the road for your transfer back to Salvador and your connecting flight home.
