Her associate Lisbeth was our point of contact and did an amazing job in going over the schedule with us when we landed in Cusco; and was kind enough to arrange a half day trip of Lima before we left Peru with her travel partners. The drivers and guides on each part of our trip were punctual, courteous and friendly, all knowledgeable about the Sacred Valley region. Special thanks to our guides - Oscar (Sacred Valley), Javier (Machu Picchu) and Marco (Palccoyo) & the drivers who got us everywhere safely! The team at Andean Travel ensured we had a memorable visit, and would definitely recommend them to anyone planning a trip here!

Hotel Reviews
Tika Wasi Casa Boutique
Cusco

This is a estate/mansion renovated into a hotel, located in the San Blas tourist district in Cusco. The hotel serves complimentary hot water & cocoa tea to help cope with altitude sickness. All rooms have comfortable beds and continuous running hot water. The staff here are helpful and courteous. Overall the place is great; but the couple of nits are that: 1. as a boutique hotel the rooms aren't uniform - we weren't satisfied with the initial room offered that was a converted attic, but the staff offered a good alternate room. 2. The space heaters provided aren't effective against the cold nights in Cusco and need to be updated; though the blankets/wool provided do help.

Wonderful hotel, located close to the Ollantaytambo main square and the train station. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The heater had a very slow pickup, but considering the weather was warm that didn't bother us. The breakfast options were from locally sourced vendors - breads, cereal and milk tasted very good. Staff were very courteous, and stored our luggage for a day as trains to Agauas Calientes don't accommodate heavy luggage. Overall, a great, reasonably priced option in the Sacred Valley!

We have had a fabulous first experience with KimKim. Our guide Fran helped us plan the perfect trip and found hotels that suited exactly what we were looking for. She also helped with local tips on things like clothing and safety which was really helpful to hear from someone who really knows the country. From the moment we landed we were greeted with a lovely and friendly driver, and in Lima we had a great balance of fantastic guide called Jimena for our food tour, as well as time by ourselves to explore Baranco. Jimena was so friendly and helped us to experience the amazing food that Lima had to offer. They accommodated me well as a vegetarian and I really enjoyed everything we tried. We then went onto Cusco where we met our fabulous driver Alex and lovely guide Flor. Both were friendly and made us feel very safe. Flor was also like a personal photographer and seemed well known and liked by all the other local nature reserve staff and more. She was so knowledgeable on the history of Peru and the sites we visited and helped us with every question we had. Machu Picchu was an amazing experience with Flor and we felt really lucky having her as our guide. Other people nearby commented that they were jealous of us having such a good guide! Finally we went to Arequipa where we landed late and were met by Maya and Gonzalo. Both were also so friendly and kind. Maya became like a friend to us and we even saw her for lunch on her day off! They took us to the beautiful Colca Canyon and helped us with various issues like altitude sickness and travellers stomach issues (as did Flor!). We can’t fault our trip, it was spectacular. I only wish we had even more days to enjoy it all! All our hotels, food, visits and everything were amazing. Lots of little touches like travelling first class on Peru Rail we’re unexpected delights on our trip too. Thanks so much Fran, Kristy and all of the amazing staff we met along the way, we were delighted to be supporting local businesses as well as benefiting from their amazing expertise.

Food
Some of the tourist buffet stops were great for trying a whole mix of foods, but didn’t feel as authentic as some local restaurants. I’m sure in some of these places there aren’t so many options but our favourite things were local stops where we felt more immersed in the culture rather than getting out with loads of other tourists

We loved hearing about the history in Cusco and just outside the city centre, but would have liked more time to also explore the life in the city itself. If you're looking for the epitome of travel excellence, look no further than Tamer. Let me tell you, our experience with Tamer, in collaboration with Kim Kim and Responsible Travel, was nothing short of enchanting.

This marks our second consecutive year entrusting Tamer to craft a journey of a lifetime for our students, and boy, did he deliver! Our destination this time was Peru, with all its awe-inspiring beauty. Tamer's meticulous planning ensured that every moment was infused with magic and wonder.

One of the highlights of our trip was undoubtedly the outstanding tour guides he arranged for us, Renato Diaz and Henry Gonzales. Their expertise in working with high school students was evident as they effortlessly blended fun and education throughout our 14-day adventure. From delving into the history of the Incan Empire to exploring the mystical Peruvian Amazon, every aspect of our itinerary was flawlessly executed.

Our journey took us through Lima, Cusco, Ollantaytambo, and Puerto Maldonado, with each destination offering its own unique charm. The accommodations were nothing short of breathtaking, and our air travel arrangements went off without a hitch.

From the bustling streets of Lima to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu, every moment was filled with awe and wonder. Our days were packed with unforgettable experiences, from cooking classes to day trips to Rainbow Mountain and exploring the ancient ruins of Moray. And let's not forget our daily excursions into the heart of the Amazon rainforest – an experience that left us spellbound.

Already, we find ourselves eagerly planning our next adventure with Tamer. Year three beckons, and this time, we're setting our sights on Chile. With Tamer at the helm, we know that another extraordinary journey awaits us.

In short, if you want an unforgettable travel experience that seamlessly blends adventure, education, and pure magic, Tamer is the only choice.

Johanna crafted the perfect itinerary for us. We started out in Lima, where we learned what a beautiful city it was, although quite busy it was there that we experienced a wonderful food tour. The Lima culinary experience tour was a highlight, offering a plethora of new tastes for us to savor, which even our children thoroughly enjoyed. The accommodations, especially the Ecolodge in Ollantaytempo , Palace Marriott in Cusco, exceeded our expectations. We wished we could have spent more time in Cusco. Each guide we encountered was incredibly welcoming, making us feel safe and enlightened throughout our journey. Our excursions, including ATV and rafting with Cesar and Gabriel, were made even more enjoyable thanks to their expertise and reassurance. Edy, our guide in Moray &Maras, left a lasting impression, enriching our understanding of the culture and landmarks. Our last big adventure was epic being able to experience Machu Picchu and our guide was perfect for our family. Overall, our trip to Peru was unforgettable, thanks to the thoughtful planning and exceptional hospitality we experienced. We did have to contact Kimkim a few times to up the experience and they were quick to help us figure out a few changes to the itinerary. They even reassured us when our train was delayed there was a reason, but things were still on track. Thank you Johanna and Kimkim we’ll def use this service in the future.

Pretty much everything went off without a hitch. Our guides were all knowledgeable, organized, attentive, friendly, helpful and prompt. Very professional!
Peru is an absolutely beautiful country with amazing history and an incredible culture.
I did feel like we were a little unprepared for some things and perhaps that’s on us! Inkaterra Resort in the rainforest is magical (excursions, lodging, staff, food) but be prepared for no AC in extremely hot & humid temps, fans and electric off mid day for several hours and from 10pm-4am each evening. No wifi. Still worth it! Also, Definitely take plenty of bug spray :)
For the 8 mile Inca trail hike into Macchu Picchu it was quite a bit more difficult than expected and we had to carry all of our things on our backs for the overnight (thankfully we had backpacks), along with enough water for the full day. We had to borrow 2 hiking sticks each from our guide as there was a great deal of climbing and descending very uneven and sometimes wet and slippery terrain. Took us about 8 hours. Totally worth it however and a must do if you can!
There were lots and lots of street peddlers in many areas, predominantly Cusco, that were pretty aggressive with their selling techniques and stray dogs and puppies in various states of well being almost everywhere we went (except for Lima). A few were almost hit by our driver! That part of things was a bit stressful.
On our last day there we were scheduled to go to Rainbow Mountain but read it was a 3 hour drive there, a difficult 4 mile round trip hike to the mountain in very high elevation, followed by a 3 hour return drive. We also heard that at the present time it was covered in snow so not visible anyway. Luckily we researched that on our own and were able to cancel it and book an easier and more laid back excursion that was much closer to Cusco for our last day. If we’d gone through all of that and been unable to see the mountain we’d have been very disappointed. We are in our 50’s with a few health issues and were a little surprised with the strenuousness of some of the activities that it wasn’t fully explained or discussed (what the excursion entailed and if we were capable of it). Other than those few things to be aware of, so you do not make the same mistakes we did - we highly recommend this trip! Extremely special indeed. Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this a delightful and memorable trip for us.

Absolutely beautiful inside and out. Even smelled amazing! They provided us with green mandarin oranges daily and there was a wet bar available in the room. Conveniently located right by the train but that only added to the charm. Laundry service available for an incredible price, restaurant on site as well as resident pup. Staff was attentive and friendly. Breakfast included daily and incredible boxed lunches provided for our Inca Trail hike.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent trip to Peru. We're thrilled to hear that your itinerary was filled with spectacular experiences, remarkable sights, and encounters with our country's vibrant culture.

Your kind words about our guides truly warm our hearts. We take great pride in ensuring that our team is knowledgeable, organized, and attentive, and it's lovely to hear that they enhanced your journey with their professionalism and friendliness.

We deeply appreciate your understanding regarding some of the unexpected challenges you encountered during your adventure, especially at Inkaterra Resort and on the Inca Trail hike. While we strive to communicate the level of difficulty beforehand, we understand that with the passage of time, some details may fade so we have taken more measures and provide more information into day descriptions.

Once again, thank you for choosing to explore Peru with us. We hope to welcome you back someday for more unforgettable adventures!

Warm regards,
Anne

Embarking on a journey to Peru is a dream for many, but with Anne's expertise and meticulous planning, it became an unforgettable reality. From the moment we decided to explore this enchanting country to the very last day of our 9-day expedition, Anne's passion for travel and attention to detail shone brightly, ensuring every aspect of our trip was nothing short of perfection.

Anne's dedication to crafting a personalized itinerary tailored to our preferences was evident from the start. She took the time to listen attentively to our interests, weaving together a diverse tapestry of experiences that showcased the rich cultural tapestry and natural wonders of Peru. In addition, we were celebrating my 30th birthday, and each tour guide and hotel we were paired with took the extra time to recognize this special occasion. It made me feel very special!

Our adventure began in Lima, where Anne's thoughtful selection of accommodations provided us with a luxurious haven amidst the bustling capital. Her recommendations for must-visit landmarks and hidden gems allowed us to delve into the city's vibrant history and culinary delights with ease.

As we journeyed onwards to Cusco, the heart of the ancient Inca Empire, Anne paired us with an amazing local tour guide - Miguel. Miguel's expertise truly shone. Miguel led us through the cobblestone streets, sharing captivating tales of the city's storied past, We loved how connected Miguel was to his culture/history. From exploring the majestic ruins of Machu Picchu to wandering through the colorful markets of Pisac, every moment felt like a discovery guided by an expert hand.

One highlight of our trip was the breathtaking trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Anne's meticulous planning and Miguel's wonderful hospitality. Both ensured our safety and comfort throughout the journey, with comfortable accommodations, and gourmet meals that fueled our spirits as we traversed the rugged terrain.

Anne's passion for sustainable travel was evident in every aspect of our journey, from supporting local artisans to choosing eco-friendly transportation options. Her commitment to responsible tourism not only enriched our experience but also ensured that the communities we visited thrived in harmony with nature.

Throughout our 9-day odyssey, Anne's unwavering support and attention to detail surpassed all expectations. Her warmth, professionalism, and genuine love for Peru left an indelible mark on our hearts, turning a mere vacation into a transformative adventure of a lifetime.

In summary, Anne's expertise as a travel planner is unparalleled. If you're seeking an extraordinary journey filled with authenticity, adventure, and unforgettable memories, look no further than Anne to guide you on your next Peruvian escapade.

It was great having him to walk us through Macchu Pichu because he was a fountain of knowledge about the site itself and Peruvian history. We admired how connected he was to his culture. Our journey with PeruvianSoul through the heart of Peru's culinary and cultural delights was an absolute delight. From the vibrant streets of Lima to the serene landscapes of the Sacred Valley, every moment was filled with unforgettable experiences.

Our adventure began with a walking food tour through the charming streets of Barranco. Led by the knowledgeable Marcus, we explored hidden culinary gems while soaking in the artistic ambiance of the area. The ceviche we sampled was a revelation, showcasing Peru's culinary prowess and leaving us craving more.

Arriving in the Sacred Valley, we were treated to a picturesque lunch on the shores of Piuray Lagoon, a moment that quickly became a favorite for Jim. The stunning scenery paired perfectly with the delicious cuisine, setting the tone for the rest of our journey.

Exploring the Moray Terraces, Maras Salt Ponds, and Ollantaytambo provided fascinating insights into the region's rich history and natural wonders. However, it was our visit to the Amaru community that left the most lasting impression. Welcomed with open arms by Pedro and his family, we experienced genuine hospitality as we learned about their traditions and sampled local delicacies.

Of course, no visit to Peru would be complete without witnessing the awe-inspiring wonder of Machu Picchu. The ancient ruins left us spellbound, offering a glimpse into the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the Inca civilization.

Throughout our journey, we were fortunate to have the expertise of Kevin, our skilled driver, and Miguel, our passionate guide. Kevin navigated the winding roads with ease, while Miguel's wealth of knowledge and infectious enthusiasm brought each destination to life. His attention to detail ensured that every aspect of our trip was seamless, leaving us feeling cared for and well-informed.

The personalized touches from the PeruvianSoul team truly set our experience apart. From remembering special occasions like my birthday to surprising us with thoughtful treats, their genuine care and attention to detail were evident at every turn.

In conclusion, our adventure with PeruvianSoul surpassed all expectations, leaving us with cherished memories and a newfound appreciation for the soul of Peru. Thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable journey. We cannot wait to return and explore more of this incredible country.

Joseph and his wife at Sarapampa Hacienda were so kind and informative. Oscar was a very interesting tour guide and we learned much about the Incas. Would have been nice to hear more about the previous cultures who inhabited the area before the Incas. One comment was that Oscar said the valley was named "The Sacred Valley" was named because hippies settled in the area in the 1960s. I beg to differ because everything I read said that the indigenous people thought it was sacred because of the water, climate and soil conditions.

Could have skipped the salt mines - not really mines and not at all interesting. The climb up and down the stairs was not worth it for what we saw. I hated this part of the tour and felt like we were just filling up time. We stopped for lunch in a very nice town (sorry, can't remember the name) and ate in an old colonial house. It was excellent.
