Miðhraun Lava Resort, Snæfellsnes Peninsula

5.0 (4 reviews) · Comfort
Family-run farm with large apartments and houses, a restaurant, a geothermal pool, and a kids' area

Overview

Located in the southern part of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, just two hours from Reykjavík, Miðhraun is a family-run hotel on a farm in the middle of Iceland's countryside. You can reach some of the area's best attractions within an hour by car, like Snæfellsjökull Glacier, Arnastapi and the arched rock Gatklettur, and the black sand beach of Djúpalónssandur.

The hotel offers a mix of modern rooms, apartments, and houses with the necessary amenities to stay in this remote area with limited dining options. Most rooms have a shared bathroom, while the apartments and houses are ideal for larger parties of up to 15 people. Rooms have access to a common kitchen area, while houses and apartments have fully furnished kitchens and washing machines. Some have mountain views, and all have patios, and bathrooms include rainfall shower heads.

The common facilities include a restaurant with tasty homemade food, where you can have dinner or breakfast (not included). Kids will love the playground with its trampoline, and they can also meet sheep on the farm, while adults can relax in the geothermal bath that's accessible for a fee.

This resort was set on a sheep farm and it was a really nice place to stay. However, they did not include breakfast which would have been helpful to know in advance, as the location was quite remote. The resturant at the resort was very good. Read more
