Hey, I’m Abdel, born and raised in a small Berber village under the Atlas Mountains. Growing up surrounded by Morocco’s rich traditions, I always knew I wanted to share my homeland with others — but in a way that goes beyond the usual tourist spots.
Starting out as a tour guide, I realized my dream could be bigger. That’s how Original Travels came to life. For me, it’s not just about showing Morocco’s beauty. It’s about helping you experience it the way we do — connecting with local communities, honoring our traditions, and preserving the incredible culture we have here.
At Original Travels, we focus on meaningful, sustainable journeys that respect both the land and the people. We’re all about creating experiences that go beyond the surface and invite you to truly discover Morocco’s soul.
This is my story, and my invitation to you. Let’s explore Morocco together, in a way that stays with you long after the journey ends.
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"At Original Travels, we focus on showcasing Morocco's rich landscapes and cultures through tailored experiences in:
Cities: Exploring the vibrant streets of Marrakech, the serene blue alleys of Chefchaouen, and the coastal charm of Essaouira.
Mountains: Trekking in the Atlas Mountains, visiting traditional Berber villages, and enjoying the natural beauty of Morocco’s highlands.
Deserts: Venturing into the Sahara for camel treks, luxury desert camps, and unforgettable star-gazing sessions under the clear, vast sky.
Activities include:
Cultural Immersion: Family meals, traditional ceremonies, and artisan visits.
Luxury Travels: Top Notch stays, private Trips, honeymoons
Culinary Tours: Cooking classes and market tours.
Historical Explorations: Guided visits to ancient sites and landmarks.
Wellness: Yoga retreats and traditional hammam experiences."
How did you get involved in travel?
"I was drawn into travel by my Berber heritage and the natural beauty of my hometown in the Atlas Mountains. Wanting to share Morocco's rich culture and landscapes with others, I started as a tour guide. This passion led me to establish Original Travels, where I could offer more authentic and meaningful experiences to travelers, deeply rooted in local traditions and sustainability. My journey into travel is a reflection of my love for my homeland and its stories."
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
"A night spent in the Sahara Desert remains an unforgettable travel experience for me. Riding camels at sunset, we ventured deep into the dunes, where the vast silence and the blanket of stars overhead offered a profound sense of solitude and connection to the universe. Away from the campfire, under the dense, starlit sky, I felt an overwhelming sense of awe and humility. This moment, stark and beautiful, underscored the transformative power of travel, revealing the earth’s magnificent scale and mystery in an instant. It’s a vivid reminder of the world's wonders, forever etched in my memory."

We had a fantastic half-day tour in Morocco with Chafik, and he was absolutely outstanding. From the very beginning, he was warm, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable, instantly making us feel comfortable and excited to explore.
Chafik brought the history, culture, and daily life of Morocco to life with clear explanations, fascinating stories, and thoughtful context. He struck the perfect balance between being informative and relaxed, allowing the tour to feel immersive without ever being rushed. His deep local knowledge, professionalism, and passion for what he does were evident throughout the experience.
He was attentive to our interests, patient with questions, and incredibly respectful and courteous at all times. Thanks to Chafik, we gained a much richer understanding of Morocco in just a few hours, and the tour felt both meaningful and memorable.
If you are looking for a guide who is knowledgeable, personable, polished, and genuinely excellent at what he does, Chafik is an outstanding choice. We would recommend him without hesitation and would gladly tour with him again.

Our trip was amazingl. Kim Kim paired us with the local travel provider “Original Travels”. To begin with, we were supported by Abdellah who helped guide us to our booking. Once booked, we were handed over to Saïd who ably supported us, quickly and patiently answered all our questions. Once we arrived into Casablanca, we found two of our checked in luggage had not arrived. We filed a complaint with the Royal Maroc Desk, exited the airport and met Ayoub, our driver for the entire trip. He immediately took us to several stores to help us buy immediate necessities like tooth brush, a few clothes etc. With that, we started our trip with a promise from Air Maroc that they would send our suitcases to Fes once they arrived in Casablanca. The two suitcases arrived at Casablanca on Dec 23. But Dec 24 and 25 came and went and they did not arrive at Fes. So, on Dec 26 we told Saïd that we needed to go to Casablanca to try and get our suitcases instead of continuing to the desert camp in Merzouga as per original plan and requested him to make needed changes. Ayoub drove us to Casablanca airport and patiently waited for several hours while we tried to wade through terrible bureaucracy and rude staff at the airport baggage claim. Luckily with the help of a gentleman named Karim who took personal interest to find and get us our luggage, we were miraculously united with the two suitcases. In the meantime, Saïd silently and efficiently worked out needed changes which included booking us into a Riad for the night at Fes, delaying our arrival at the Desert Camp in Merzouga by a day and adjusting our stay in Boumalne Dades by a day. Everything was seamless! In addition to driving, Ayoub was a repository of knowledge and helped us learn about culture, music, geography and history of Morocco. He also guided us to good shops along the way and helped us buy high quality rugs, ceramics etc. in addition, for tours of Fes Medina Mohammed, the guide was very good. Idriss, the guide for the tour of Marrakech Medina was very good as well. Overall, a very memorable trip of a beautiful country and friendly people and tasty food!
I need to talk about Amazigh music. Our driver Ayoub played this form of music throughout the trip and we have gotten hooked. We don’t understand the language but the tunes have a meditative chant-like quality. It was fun drawing parallels with certain forms of folk music from across the world and playing some samples as we drove past gorgeous countryside!

Very good breakfast, good location
The place was very quaint and beautifully decorated. However there was one small problem. The single restroom had a small window which let in outside air which was cold. So at night we shut the window. Next morning we realised that a smell had accumulated in the restroom, the kind of smell that happens when sewage does not flow smoothly. We reopened the window and that took care of the issue. That apart, it was a pretty property with great views from the terrace and a very good breakfast.

It was pouring rain the evening when we arrived in Chefchaouen. Walking the hilly streets in the rain was fun and next morning we took a self guided walking tour of the main sites and also went down pretty alleys and at times got lost. Volubilis Roman ruins with frescos like ones in Pompeii were interesting. Our guide, forget his name, looked and sounded very like Joe Pesci!
We drove through Moulay Idriss to get a sense of the little town. From Volubilis it sparkled on the hillside in the afternoon sun like a jewel. It is a holy site for Islam and non-Muslims are not allowed into any of the mosques or holy sites. So, not much to do.
In Meknes there is a mausoleum. We did not go in. Not sure if non Muslims are allowed to. We checked out the nearby shops and then had a very good lunch at a traditional restaurant just close by….

Fes
Mohammad, our tour guide, picked us up from our Riad and we drove to one main gate of the Royal palace and walked from that point. He was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of history as we walked through the medina. The medina itself is amazing and a veritable feast for our senses! Not to be missed!
Fes is an ancient town and holy to Islam. It also has the oldest Royal palace and the current King Mohammed VI spends most of his time here. We were told the climate helps his asthma.
The alley close to one of the main palace gates has lines of homes with balconies. We were told these homes were owned by Jews. For protection they chose to live close to the palace.
Inside the medina there is Al Qarawyn, an ancient mosque established in 985 AD and an ancient madrassa with beautiful ornate calligraphy established in 1400s.
Also right there is a large tannery where all kinds of leather is processed and there is a large shop for leather goods where one can buy high quality leather goods.
Apart from above spice shops, sweet shops, little shops with all kinds of things and milling crowds make a fascinating mix. Beware of the labyrinthine alleys. One can easily get lost!

We just returned from our 7-day Morocco trip. We had a wonderful time. All of the arrangements went very smoothly despite a short-notice reschedule of a couple excursions due to weather disruptions, which is an absolute credit to KimKim and the supporting tour companies (especially Original Travels). Our driver, Hamza, was incredibly punctual and got us everywhere we needed to be and expertly navigated us through the pure chaos that is Moroccan traffic. The hotels and Riads we stayed in were comfortable and accommodating.
Our individual tour guides were each friendly and took us through the locales while giving a rich history of the sites. The guides for the Roman ruins at Volubilis and Fez Medina were standouts and the hot air balloon ride was the absolute highlight of the trip. Our trek into the Imlil Valley was a lovely way to end the trip and the food served by the Berber family that was kind enough to host us was delicious, enhanced further by the wonderful view of the valley from their home.
The one area that could have been better (maybe) was in the planning stage. Our itinerary necessitated fairly long drives on many of the days and it might have been helpful for KimKim to have provided more recommendations within the itinerary to perhaps minimize that further. That said, the itinerary checked off a large swath of the experiences we wanted to have in the relatively short duration of the trip, so it may have been the best one for us. Regardless, the countryside was quite beautiful and our driver Hamza made the journey comfortable.
Thank you again for the wonderful experience!
Hotel Review
Don't let the location fool you! Despite its specific location on what felt to be a very deserted alley, further complicated by Apple Maps' inaccuracy on how to get to it (Google Maps knows the correct location and will get you there, so use it instead), it was a very comfortable stay and very central to the heart of Marrakech. It made for a great home base from which to explore the market and maze of alleyways. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating!

Day Trip to Imlil Valley: High Atlas Mountains Adventure & Lunch with a Berber Family
Marrakesh
A lovely little hike to a waterfall and then onward (upward) to the village for a delicious lunch overlooking the valley, offering yet another taste of the variety of terrain and culture that Morocco offers (especially in late December...solid Tibetan vibes at play).
The one element that didn't quite meet our expectation, though not specifically a negative, was that we didn't actually each lunch with anyone from the family hosting it. The food was very delicious and the setting on the house terrace was comfortable with fantastic views, but we were a little bummed to not have the opportunity to talk more with the family hosting us. Nonetheless, it was still a very positive experience!

The vehicle was always clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making even long drives relaxing. Most importantly, we always felt completely safe and in excellent hands with Karim behind the wheel.
If you are looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, warm, and professional driver/guide in Morocco, we cannot recommend Karim highly enough. KimKim, Original Travels, and Karim, truly made our journey special.

About the Tiziri Luxury Camp, we are sorry you were not able to stay there. As Said explained, there was a special event and a birthday party that night, and the owner told us there would be a lot of noise. For your comfort, we decided to move you to another camp so you could enjoy a quiet and relaxing night.
Said will be very happy to hear your nice words. He always tries his best to help and make the trip smooth for everyone.
Thank you again for choosing Original Travels. We truly appreciate your recommendation and would love to welcome you back to Morocco anytime!

Said was fantastic—always quick to respond and attentive to our needs throughout the trip. Our private driver, Tayebb, made our travels even more enjoyable. He was personable, courteous, and an absolute pleasure to spend time with. We could not have asked for a better driver.
Redouane was a fabulous guide through the markets of Marrakech, filling our ears with history and great stories. He was the ultimate professional and made the experience come alive. In Fes, Shariff did an amazing job helping us navigate the city’s intricate streets and hidden gems—his knowledge and enthusiasm made our visit truly special.
I look forward to utilizing Kimkim’s services for future travels. They are honest, responsive, and kind—everything you could hope for in a travel consulting agency. Thank you for helping us create such unforgettable memories!
