Maria Jose has a university degree in System Engineering, but about 20 years ago she found her true passion in tourism, having worked in a DMC environment ever since. "I specialize in creating tailor-made itineraries for travelers to discover the hidden gems of Nicaragua, with a focus on cultural immersion and nature-based experiences. My tours highlight the country's volcanoes, beaches, colonial cities like Granada and León, and unique experiences such as hiking, coffee farms, and wildlife spotting.

How did you get involved in travel?
"Although my academic background is in System Engineering, I discovered my true passion for travel and tourism about 20 years ago. I started working in the travel industry here in Nicaragua, where I joined a Destination Management Company (DMC). From there, I quickly realized how much I enjoyed helping people create unforgettable travel experiences, especially in a country as rich in culture and natural beauty as Nicaragua. It’s been a wonderful journey ever since!"

"One of my most unforgettable travel experiences was a trip to the Río San Juan region in Nicaragua.
I had the chance to stay in a remote eco-lodge nestled in the heart of nature, surrounded by lush tropical rainforests. I’ll never forget the peacefulness I felt as I explored the area by boat, hearing the sounds of the wildlife and discovering the incredible biodiversity. From the rich culture to the diverse flora and fauna, it was a truly life-changing experience that deepened my appreciation for the importance of preserving such unique ecosystems"
