Mirela Slonjsek
I was born in Croatia, and finished my education in Zagreb. I graduated from the University of Zagreb, Faculty for humanities, in Art History and Philosophy. I lived in Italy, Torino, for 2 years, working in a travel agency and attending language school.
After university, I started to work as a free-lance tour leader and as such have been in all European countries, all North African countries, plus some South as well, Asia (India, China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, etc), South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile), Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Rep. USA, etc. For 8 years I was secretary of the board of Croatian sommelier association, and worked on establishing sommelier courses in Croatia, national competitions and wine tours.
Since 2003, I have been working as a group leader for US travel companies (Overseas Adventure Travel, Odyssey Unlimited; Road Scholar) here in Croatia, but also in Slovenia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece. With Road scholar, I was working as a consultant on creating the tours here in region. Also I work as a local guide here in Zagreb, for some years.
In 2014, I started with one colleague my own travel company specialized in tailored travel. I am fluent in English and Italian, good in Spanish and some French.
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"I am specialized in all Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Albania not only as organizer who provide service but also as a person who guided and had been in all this places many times."
How did you get involved in travel?
"I started as a group leader for Croatian tourists abroad, then as a group leader for American and Italian tourists, local guide for Zagreb and its county, consultant for travel planing for Croatian companies and also for American companies. I wanted to travel myself but couldn't afford at that time so that was good start that continued to be my life."
