Tenzin Dhondup

Tenzin was born near the mighty North Face of Mt Everest. Inspired by the beauty, energy, and love for his homeland, he started his career in the tourism industry in 2003 by working at Mt Everest North Face Base Camp in a tent hotel, "Hotel California". The hotel provided basic accommodation needs like beds, hot meals, and tea to trekkers taking the overland route from Lhasa and also providing them with information for safe journeys.

Tenzin also worked as a tour guide and porter, assisting climbers heading to the North Face Advance Base Camp on Mt Everest at an elevation of 6,500 meters.

In 2005, he relocated to Lhasa where he worked as a tour guide. He led groups to all regions of Tibet and has completed the pilgrimage circuit of Mt Kailash 5 times, something that he feels very blessed to have done.

In 2006, based on his valuable experience gained in traveling all across Tibet, he was recruited to work for a very well-known local Tibetan travel agency in Lhasa as a sales manager and an itinerary developer.

In the past 10 years, he also began learning more things about the Tibetan Buddhism and local meditation techniques, gaining valuable knowledge, insights, and experience.

In the past 14 years, Tenzin has successfully guided more than 2000 clients from all over the globe while showing them all the beauties and sharing his love and knowledge of his homeland Tibet.Tenzin is also mentioned in the Lonely Planet Guide of 2010 as Mc Tenzin, in another edition guidebook as Tenzin or Big Tenzin.

All of the above encounters, together with his love and passion for sharing all of the beauties, customs, knowledge and personal experiences of Tibet, led him to start his own company in 2016, namely the "Tibet Travelers".

"Central Tibet, Lhasa, Shigatse, Tseteng, Ngari region."

How did you get involved in travel?

"Since my home is around 40km from the Mount Everest North Face Base Camp, my parents had opened a tea house at Everest base camp from climbers and they let me work there for 2 years and since from that, I started working for tourism."

"Riding a motor bike from Mount Everest North Face Base Camp to New Tingri ( 100km ) one way in a rainy season was one of the most special experiences of my life. "
