Claire Dean
I have worked in tourism in Peru for 20 years and adore my adopted country! I was a trekking guide for many years and have a lot of experience of trekking and travel in this area. I come from a sustainable, environmentally friendly, low impact travel approach which is why I love to work as a travel advisor for Haku Expeditions.
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"trekking in the Cusco region, travel in Cusco and Peru."
How did you get involved in travel?
"I was a tour leader for many years , for a company with a strong "Responsible travel" ethic, leading groups all over Latin America. I am now office based and love helping people to have the best possible experience of traveling in Peru."
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
"I think trekking in the Espiritu Pampa area when I first came here, I went off with a friend, a guide and a mule! For some of the way we were accompanied by a gentleman with a rather large gun! He was checking that we were not going to disrupt his coca leaf plantation . After 5 km he was convinced that we were not spies or reporters and left us to trek this amazing place! The army base has now made this area a lot safer to trek ! :)"
