Derren Patterson

When I was 19 years old and traveling/living in Ghana, West Africa I made a list of 30 things I wanted to do before turning 30. On my list was live in every continent (except Antartica...sorry guys). Eventually, this brought me to Bolivia where a 9-month trip exploring this amazing country has taken me on a nearly 10-year adventure in this remarkable place.

The vast diversity in landscape, cultures and ways of living have kept me enchanted since my first day here and I love sharing all that Bolivia has to offer with others and am constantly looking for my next adventure in the mountains, jungle, rivers, lakes, trails and roads of this authentic and off the beaten path part of the world. And I take great pride in knowing that our trips also help the communities we work with.

Travel has been my greatest teacher in life and I can't wait to learn more. Let's go on an adventure!

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"We specialize in doing what we love, and that is authentic adventures on a scale only the Andes can provide. We started with biking trips and have grown from this to offer unique adventures adapted to those we share them with throughout this amazing country."

How did you get involved in travel?

"Just about as soon as I could, I started travelling independently and haven't stopped yet! It soon grew from a passion into a lifestyle.

No se cuenta segundos, se cuenta historias."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"One of the most recent ones I will never forget was a river expedition where we built local rafts and floated down a river through Class IV rapids and fished for el Dorado, camping out along the way, travelling the length of the Madidi National Park, the world's most biodiverse natural park. Such a great experience and what an amazing place."

The planning for this trip was very seamless. I left everything up to Derren and he made sure I was set up with the best Salt Flat tour company and day tour in La Paz possible. I had no idea what tour operator I was joining in the Salt Flats but once I got there I knew I was in good hands and they were very good. I had the best time and the pictures were priceless. It took the stress of out of booking on my end since there are hundreds of tour companies to choose from and it's hard to know if you are making the right decision with all the trip reviews online and so on. Thanks again for a successful experience!

Derren gave me great tips on what tours to do and where to stay. He suggested the Adventure Brew Hostel. I would never had known that if Derren didn't suggest it. It was right next to the bus terminal etc.
