Eirik Bekkevar Nilsen

I work for a company called Hvitserk of Norway. We specialize in trips to Norway with a large emphasis on outdoor activities. I approach travel as a way of exploration. Both by experiencing, learning and pushing yourself. Then you have a better understanding of not just the world we live in, but also of yourself as a human being.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"I specialize in travels to Norway, either to our world renowned fjords, our vast mountain ranges, our beautiful coastal regions, our arctic sector, or to our cultural significant cities. The focus is always to show my customers our country through participanting in outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, skiing, kayaking, dogsledding, ice climbing etc. That is without a doubt the best way to explore Norway!"

How did you get involved in travel?

"As many others, I got involved in travel simply by travelling extensively myself.
And as we all know, when you do that, there is no turning back. You either keep travelling or eventually start working with it. I did the latter. "

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"One of my first truly memorable encounters with Norwegian nature was at the age of 8, hiking down the Aurland Valley all the way from Geiterygghytta at 1224 meters above sea level and down to Aurland, a small village nestled at the shores of Aurlandsfjorden. I could't believe the scenery that was presented before me. Steep cliffs, narrow gorges, spectacular waterfalls, thundering rivers. Nature's beauty in all its glory. After four days me and my famliy reached our goal. Since then this place, and that valley has always been close to my heart. "

October is an ideal time of year to enjoy Norway's colorful fall scenery in peace and quiet, as travelers are few and far between. This is also when days get shorter, temperatures drop, and the Northern Lights begin to reappear above the Arctic Circle. Find out what to do and where to go with this monthly guide.
