Fred Ackerman
Born in the Mojave Desert, raised in Northern Minnesota and blessed to call Cape Cod “home” for most of my life, I began traveling from a young age. I have not only traveled six continents, I have lived in four of them. Now the San Francisco Bay Area is where I have hung my bike helmet for the last 20+ years. I approach travel with an eye for creating the best possible experience within the given parameters.

"I specialize in bicycling in the Western US: California, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and more."
How did you get involved in travel?
"I have always loved travel. Twenty years ago I was a busy young professional with no time to plan vacations, but had a strong desire to get out there and explore. After traveling with a few adventure tour operators, I realized that I wanted to be on the other side of the equation to be out seeing the world and to share my passion for being active outdoors with others."
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
"This is hard to narrow down, but I'd say designing and participating in a custom, weeklong bicycle tour for 70 Virgin Atlantic employees and friends in California's Eastern Sierra was pretty epic. We started by Lake Tahoe and ended up about 500 miles later at Mojave where the grand finale included a visit the Virgin Galactic design and test facility. Amazing group - amazing trip!"
