Raj Rijal
I was born in a neighboring district of Kathmandu and moved to the city at an early age for school. My childhood was filled with exploring Kathmandu’s alleys and traveling to different towns to celebrate festivals with family. For nearly a decade, motorbiking has been my passion—when I’m not running tours, you’ll often find me exploring Nepal’s remote corners on two wheels.
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"I specialize in trekking, cultural tours, nature tours, and motorbike tours across Nepal—covering everything from Mechi in the east to Mahakali in the west, and from the towering Himalayas in the north to the lush lowlands of the Terai in the south."
How did you get involved in travel?
"My love for traveling and exploring from a young age led me to pursue a degree in Tourism and Hospitality, after which I joined Himalayan Trails. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to work with a team of passionate travelers dedicated to sharing the beauty and stories of Nepal with visitors from around the world."
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
"Back in high school, a few friends and I planned a weekend hike to a village festival on the other side of the hill near our home. Instead of taking the usual trail, one of my friends (Man vs. Wild fan) convinced us to try a lesser-used route. At first it was fine, but once we reached about 2,500m, thick clouds rolled in and we completely lost our sense of direction. What was meant to be a 3-hour hike stretched into 8 hours, and we finally stumbled into the village around midnight. It was scary being lost in the dark forest, but the teamwork, laughter, and sheer adventure made it one of the most memorable experiences of my life."
