Sergio Castillo
I love designing personalized journeys through Guatemala, Belize, and Central America. My main goal is for travelers to return home with unforgettable memories and meaningful experiences they can share with family and friends. I focus on adventure, nature, and cultural immersion, creating trips that go beyond the typical itinerary by blending unique locations, authentic local connections, and well-paced activities. Whether it’s exploring Maya sites, discovering coastal villages, or enjoying the outdoors, I aim to craft seamless, enriching, and truly memorable travel experiences from start to finish.
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"I specialize in creating travel experiences across Guatemala, Belize, and Central America, focusing on places that highlight the region’s natural beauty and cultural richness. Some of my key destinations include Tikal, Antigua, Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, as well as Hopkins, Placencia, and the Belize Barrier Reef.
In terms of activities, I focus on adventure and immersive experiences such as visiting Maya archaeological sites, snorkeling and marine excursions, kayaking and cave tubing, hiking through jungles, and cultural encounters with local communities. I also design well-balanced itineraries that allow travelers to enjoy both active exploration and meaningful moments of connection with the destination."
How did you get involved in travel?
"I got involved in travel at a very young age. My father is a tour guide in Guatemala, and I remember meeting his travelers and loving every moment of it—talking with them, “explaining” local dishes, and teaching them a few words or phrases in Spanish. I enjoyed seeing their curiosity and helping them connect with our culture. From that early experience, I realized how special it is to share our traditions with people from different parts of the world.
Over time, as I traveled through Guatemala and Central America, visiting small villages and experiencing the diversity of people, customs, and traditions—even within the same region—my passion only grew stronger. Today, I love experiencing travel through my travelers’ eyes and helping them discover the richness of our culture in a meaningful way."
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
"One of the most unforgettable travel experiences for me was visiting Tikal and Río Dulce.
At Tikal, I remember walking among the temples, imagining how our ancestors once lived there. The sounds of the howler monkeys echoing through the jungle, spotting wildlife, and even finding snake skins made the whole experience feel alive and deeply connected to history.
Later, in Río Dulce, I had a completely different kind of adventure. I met a boat captain who, to my surprise, let me steer the boat for a few minutes. I was only 12 years old, and it was an incredible thrill—feeling the adrenaline of navigating open water, the breeze on my face, and just pure joy and laughter in that moment. It’s a memory that has stayed with me ever since."
