Overview
Kimkim's Take

- You're well placed in a central location in Byron Bay, surrounded by shops, restaurants, and cafés.
- Families and travelers committing to a longer stay can opt for the 1-, 2-, or 3-bedroom apartments, which have full kitchens and access to self-service laundry.
- Leisure facilities include a full-sized tennis court and a recently renovated swimming pool and hot tub.
- Enjoy perks like late midday checkouts, complimentary bikes and surfboard rentals, and on-site car parking.
- You can take advantage of the barbecue area, which is great if you're traveling with a group of friends or with family.
- Though centrally located, it's still a 10-15-minute walk to the beach.
- Don't expect great views at The Lord Byron. Some balconies look out onto an overgrown train track that parallels the property and separates it from the natural bushland beyond, while others face Johnson Street (the best views are of the pool area).
Authenticity
Even though The Lord Byron is set inland from the beach, the hotel embraces Byron Bay's laid-back coastal vibe with its tropical setting and landscaping. Not to mention, the use of boho-inspired decor (many of the guestrooms are outfitted with hand-picked fabrics from Sydney's Bourkeshire Interiors) supports the beachy aesthetic, while the complimentary bikes and surfboard rentals help to immerse yourself in the area's offerings.
Location
Centrally located, The Lord Byron is flanked by native bushland (behind the property's tennis court) and busy Jonson Street, which leads you to all of Byron Bay's attractions (including shops, restaurants, cafés, and a farmer's market—great if you're staying in one of the apartments). It's about a 15-minute stroll to reach the beach, though you can cut that down to 3 minutes if you nab one of the free bikes. Free parking is on-site, and there's a bus stop just across the street.
Rooms & Bathrooms
Recently renovated (2023), the main building's guestrooms are individually decorated in a bohemian aesthetic. You'll find colorful textiles printed with tropical motifs or geometric patterns, white wood paneled accent walls, and reclaimed wood, leather, and/or linen furnishings, all characteristic of coastal architecture. Choose from Deluxe Queen, Deluxe Queen/Single, or King Rooms with Garden Views, each featuring private balconies and recently refurbished bathrooms with backlit mirrors and textured walls. For more space, opt for the fully furnished 1, 2, or 3-bedroom apartments, which are light and airy, complete with fully equipped kitchens and simple living rooms.
Amenities
Perks of The Lord Byron include the outdoor pool and hot tub, surrounded by wraparound decking (and sun loungers) and backed by a tennis court (there are rackets for rent). There's a spacious cabana and barbecue area, and guests can also enjoy complimentary bikes and surfboard hire. While there isn't an on-site restaurant or bar, the hotel has a drink service app that allows you to order refreshments poolside, in-room, or under the cabana with just a tap on your phone.Family-Friendliness
The hotel's spacious apartments with full-service kitchenettes and laundry, as well as its proximity to local attractions, make it a convenient option for those traveling with children. Meanwhile, the availability of bikes and surfboard rentals adds an element of fun for active groups.Like what you see?
