Edda Sigurðardóttir

I am a travel consultant specialized in both self drive and private guided tours. I am an experienced and educated horse trainer and know the horse industry quite well in Iceland. About horse breeding farms, lessons and riding tours all around the country. I mostly work with small groups, families and couples that want to have a unique experience in our beautiful country Iceland.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"North, mostly Skagafjörður fjord.
Horses, horse riding tours, lessons and visits to farms all over Iceland meeting different animals. "

How did you get involved in travel?

"In the last 5-10 years, I've worked at hotels and activity providers mostly focused on horse/equestrian experiences. Started working for Ísafold Travel, as a Travel consultant, just after my graduation with a bachelor degree in Business administration 2016. "

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"Horse back riding over black sandy beaches in north Iceland on a warm June summer day. "

It seemed to be an excessive amount of emails back and forth to get things settled.

It was a huge relief to have Edda plan our trip. The route, plan, and hotels were terrific. It would have been nice to have seen the details before we arrived in Iceland.

Of course we had a wonderful time. The difficulties we had were 1. connecting with Ben after we arrived in Iceland. He didn't answer his phone, so we had to use the emergency phone number. 2. Enterprise Car Rental gave us a car which had two very worn rear wheels. We had a flat tire on the rear right side. We had to take the car to a mechanic, who said that the rear tires were illegal in Iceland and unsafe to drive on which is why we had the flat tire. This took time out of our trip, which... This took time out of our trip, which was a disappointment. 3. We were promised that Heimir (sp?) would pick us up from Enterprise Rental when we returned our rental car and would drive us to our hotel. He had to back up of this agreement due to a delayed plane flight at the airport, so we were stuck. I asked him how I was supposed to return the GPS and he told us to leave our GPS with Grayline counter at the bus terminal when we were heading to the airport, but Grayline was not happy about this.

Our trip to Iceland was great! I had no idea that the landscape would vary so much in the different regions - it is amazing. I loved the fact that every day we would have different experiences - waterfalls, glaciers, geysers, geothermal pools, cliffs, beaches, whales, birds, horses, I could go on... We really enjoyed trying to find all the "hidden" nature baths too. My only complaint was that a more detailed printed itinerary would have been useful (or at least a more detailed paper map in... We really enjoyed trying to find all the "hidden" nature baths too.

My only complaint was that a more detailed printed itinerary would have been useful (or at least a more detailed paper map in the booklet). Our GPS wasn't working properly so we ended up not using it. Since all of the stops were marked on the GPS, it was hard to plan our days without having to look up all of the sights listed briefly in the itinerary to see where they were on the map and how to get there (the detours etc). Otherwise, we had a splendid time bouncing along in our Defender ;-).

Everyone was terrific!
