Hakim ALIBOUCHE

Hello dear travelers,

My name is Hakim ALIBOUCHE, your local Travel Specialist in Morocco and your future “Dream Tour” designer.

My parents are originally from Midelt, one of the smallest towns in the Middle Atlas, known by the production of apple. I am living in Agadir, the city where I was born and grew up too, which is located on the Atlantic Ocean. With its large beaches, Agadir is considered as one of the main coastal cities in Morocco, especially for the Surfers.

Travelling is an art, it’s a way of life but most of all, it’s an achievement for every single traveler. My duty here is to assist you before, during & after your visit to my beautiful country. I will be very happy to share every single information about Morocco and of course help you design & tailor made your trip to make it "memorable".

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"I am organizing tailor made tours around Morocco. The main activities are related to:

* History & Culture
* Trekking & Adventure
* Beach & Relaxation
* Sustainable Tourism "

How did you get involved in travel?

"Tourism was always one of the sectors that attract my attention a long time ago. As a first step, after my baccalaureate, I decided to involve my English skills and there was no better choice than applying to the English Studies department at the university where I had the chance to get a Bachelor's degree in Literature. Just by earning the diploma, I applied to a Specialized Institute where I decided to study Travel Agencies and Tourisme before I applied to the Higher Institute of Tourism in Tangier where I got my professional Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality & Tourism Marketing. Now, with over 4 years of experience in this field of Tourism, I could already say that it influenced me in both my personal and professional life."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"One of the experiences I'll never forget is the 2 days trekking activity I participated in in 2018 through the High Atlas Mountain and especially on its second day where I reached the Sommet. It was such a great adventure, standing at the top of the mountain near the sky and the cloud. Additionally, the night at the gite with the locals was also remarkable in my life. I'm definitely sure that I'll do this activity twice & trice in the nearest future."

All of the guides we had during the trip were wonderful. They were very well informed about the areas we visited. They took in to account our health needs and paced the tours to accommodate our slower needs. We learned so much from each of them.
Finally, our local specialist, Hakim, did a great job organizing a diverse trip of Morocco for our family. The suggestions he made gave us a small taste of the country.
I would recommend KimKim Travel to anyone who was planning a trip to Morocco.

We were very lucky to have the top floor apartment. Having access to a kitchen and terrace was an unexpected plus. The only difficulty we had was the 5 flights of stairs to get to the rooms. Strictly an issue just for us, perhaps not for other travelers. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. More food than we really needed but appreciated the options.

Tips for future travelers

If you have any health issues that would prevent you from climbing lots of stairs, ask for a room on a lower floor.

We weren't sure what to expect from a camping experience but were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. There were plenty of towels and blankets in the tent. There was plenty of room in the tent even for 3 people. The food we were served was a great example of Moroccan cuisine.

Tips for future travelers

Be sure to pack a jacket for the evenings as it does get cooler. Be prepared to get sand in everything especially if it's at all windy.

The couscous the cook prepared was delightful.

I'd like to add some notes to my travel partner's review of our trip to Morocco. I echo her sentiments about how perfectly Hakim, as a representative of kimkim, handled our trip. Which wasn't easy, given the number of delays and changes due to Covid. Also, I agree whole-heartedly that our driver Mohamed (last name to be supplied by Hakim!) really made the trip what it was: he was well-informed, articulate, funny, attentive, and always willing to share his thoughts on culture, politics, and history. Mohamed made sure we could purchase rugs from a cooperative rather than a tourist trap. When I had a problem with the pottery coop he resolved it for me quickly making that another good experience. While the local guides were, for the most part, engaging and full of info, Mohamed was able to fill in the blanks between guides.

Speaking of guides: all but two were top notch. In one case there was a clear tempo and maybe personality misalignment. We were struggling until Mohamed gave him a secret signal and he began to ask what we wanted and what he could do better, resulting in a good overall experience. (Because Mohamed knew most of the guides he could navigate the rough places for us.) The second guide that was a bad fit was a local young man, new to the business; he may improve with time.

A word about the accomodations: we had such a wonderful variety of places, most unique and charming. And just when we were ready we got a Western style 5 star hotel. But I wouldn't have traded a single place, no matter the quirks. A few stood out, not to be missed: Riad Yacout in Fes was beautiful, although quirky in the electrical and plumbing department. But the people were so warm and accommodating and the food so delicious that everything else fell away. (Note - be prepared for a lot of steep stairs and music into the night!) The Kasbah in Imlil was a personal favorite. Walking up on narrow paths while a donkey carried our baggage was the start. The Kasbah was under the highest mountain in N. Africa and while it was cloudy and snowy for most of our stay, the views were amazing. We had scheduled a full-day hike but the snow put a damper on that. Still, the staff found a jacket and boots for me so I could still go hiking. The group of people working there could not have done more for us, all with smiles. Again, the food was just fab. In Essouria we stayed in Riad Chbanate - a real jewel. Once again the people were so very wonderful, and the room and the view and the part of town just perfect.

Finally, I'd like to commend kimkim and their partner on the itinerary. We went from cities to towns to the desert, then to the mountains. Down to Marrakech and out to the coast. We skipped the touristy things and concentrated on getting to know the real Morocco. We had so much variety, every day a real adventure. I feel like we met and supported a lot of off the main street people. And that leads me to my final comment...

The Moroccan people are warm and generous. Yes, some try to get you to buy their whatevers, but a simple "No thank you" works. They have suffered tremendously during that last two years and we were happy to buy from them, to tip them generously, and to talk and laugh with them. I've traveled in many places around the world - I won't forget this trip.

Kimkim created and executed a Moroccan trip for my travel partner and I that was unforgettable. We first planned the trip in 2019 for March 2020 travel. COVID changed all that but kimkim, Hakim in particular, stuck with us for the next 3 years as we rescheduled several times only to postpone until this past March. Hakim’s service was stellar: informative, responsive, reliable, patient—and whatever other positive adjective could be applied to a travel professional. Hakim and kimkim were also available to us throughout the trip-proactively checking in or responding quickly to any questions we had.

The other notable representative of kimkim’s excellent service was our driver throughout the trip, Mohamed. From start to finish he ensured we were well-looked after. Another set of adjectives: great driver, accommodating, helpful, accessible 24/7, well-informed, friendly; equal parts driver and general guide. We were very fortunate to have had his services.

The itinerary kimkim created was also a treat. I experienced mountains, cities, villages, desert areas that were fun and/or eye-opening. Food was fabulous throughout. The various tagines and pastillas were so special, as were the breakfast spreads.

The guides provided had deep knowledge of each leg of the trip-both historical and cultural. Accommodations ranged from charmingly rustic to very high-end with the Riads being especially wonderful. My only note on the Riad is to expect to climb lots of stairs. My 72-year old legs were a bit challenged by 3 and 4 flights. However the Riad experience is absolutely necessary!

All the stops were terrific, but I’d say a “not-to-be-missed” experience is the medina in Marrakech at night. It comes to high-intensity life with scores of food stalls (pick the meats and veggies for your meal and watch them being cooked right there), musicians, drum circles, snake charmers, dancers, henna tattoers and more all in motion.

It was a truly magical trip!

It seems like we managed to include Riads for you. I am happy you made the decision to go for the one of most authentic experiences in Morocco. Despite the challenge. I can only admire your courage and willingness to try new adventures.
I gladly share with you the same opinion about Marrakech, the way the Medina and the square come to life evening time, the food stall, and the typical Moroccan street art never gets boring and are always fascinating.

Once more, Thank you so much for your trust and patience with us, and hope to see and hear from you again!

With most operators you have a hard time getting a hold of once you send in that last payment. We had the good fortune of working with an exceptional driver, Mohamed, who was a great source of information. In fact I have requested that Mohamed work with my sister and BIL when they visit Morocco in a couple of months. We loved the Riad Chergui in Marrakech. Must try their lamb tagine with the apricots, pear, and prunes. What a fabulous combination. There were a few hiccups with the accommodation in Fez, but it was due to lack of communication on the hotel end. Our tour guide Youssef was a trooper. He stuck with us the entire 6 hours for our walking tour of Marrakech. We were all tired, but he was very professional to the very end.

Local drivers arranged by Hakim were on time and courteous. Guides were also very good and informative. One minor delay was resolved promptly by Kimkim and Hakim.

We loved our Morocco trip from the mosque at Casablanca to the overnight stay in the desert and the palaces. And the medinas in Fes and Marrakech. Lovely country with a lot of history. Wish we had more days to also visit the rest of the country.

The two guided tours arranged for us in Marrakech and Fes were fantastic. Our guides were very friendly and their eye for detail and knowledge of the places we visited was very impressive. We were asked what we wanted to see by our guide in Marrakech, and we visited the secret garden and Bahia Palace. These were really a highlight! Having a guide is definitely the best way to discover the medinas. You really need someone who knows the streets and history to get the best from your time there. We would have been lost without our guides.
We were blown away by the accommodations selected for us. The Riad's were all beautiful and in great locations so it was super easy to explore the cities after our tours. The staff were all very welcoming and enabled us to feel comfortable. They informed us where to take a taxi and gave us maps and personal recommendations of restaurants. We are both vegetarian and we enjoyed the breakfast provided at each Riad. We wouldn't have found such amazing Riads without the help of a local specialist.

Hakim & Brahim pieced together our trip based on our desired cities and worked it perfectly around the flights we already had booked. Each place we visited was as compelling and engrossing as the next. On the night we arrived, we met at the Riad and it was the most beautiful room I think I've ever stayed in. It had blue marble walls and a shower fir for a king. That evening we ate at a restaurant called Nomad, which had an open upstairs sitting area with really cool views of the city. Starting in Marrakech our wonderful guide Hussain led us around the city taking us deep into the cities medina, showing us the beautiful Bahia Palace as well as taking us to the secret gardens. Hussain ended the tour with us at Koutoubia Mosque.

From Marrakech we caught a long train to Fes, it was super easy with no changes and we met some interesting people to share our journey with. In Fes, we caught a taxi to our Riad where we were greeted gracefully with tea and biscuits. The Riad was spectacular and the staff were kind and accommodating. The following morning we started our tour in which the guide took us up to the top of the medina before leading us down to the deepest part at the river basin. Without him we would've been hopeless, the narrow windy streets held many traders and secrets that we would've missed without him. It was unbelievable, I loved it. He led us back up and took us to a cafe for food. In the evening we ate at Cafe Clock which shared some excellent views and delicious food.

From Fes, we caught a bus to Chefchaouen which was full of beautiful views. And then we got to Chefchaouen. I couldn't quite get my head around it at first, it was magnificent. The city is built in the mountains and boasts beautiful blue painted buildings all over the city. We accidentally missed our Riad on the way up through the Medina and found ourselves looking down over the city, not many views quite like it. We met some lovely locals in the evening and found some interesting tourists too! The Riad was super cute too and did a delicious breakfast.

On the final day, our private driver took us to Tangier. The views we had been met with on the way into Chefchaouen, were just as good (perhaps better) on the way out. We passed through Zinat and Tetouan on the way and passed some stunning lakes. On arrival in Tangier, you could immediately tell there was more of European influence on the city with it being so much closer. The sight of the sea was very welcomed for it was the first time we'd seen it while in Morocco. We found our way around the Medina quite easily with it not being too big and found some great places to eat.

My first experience of Morocco has left me desperate for more. A combination of the pure friendliness of the local people, the iconic scenery and superb hospitality has made this my favorite trip. The organization from Hakim & Brahim was so pinpoint that there was never any time for concern, the trip only ever allowed me to enjoy myself. Thank you!

My overall experience was great, and what an adventure it was in Morocco! Hakim organized my trip efficiently as I booked rather last minute in mid Nov for a Xmas holiday. Unfortunately he could not book many of the riads I initially wanted to stay in as they were full, but it all worked out fine. 13 days allowed me enough time to get a good sense of the country as I went from Casblanca to Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fez, Merzouga desert, Ouarzazate, the Dades and Draa Valleys, Marrakesh, and Essaouira. The one thing I did not count on was how many hours we would be on the road. There were 3 days during which we had to travel in the car for 9 hours each day (with breaks included) which is tiring if you are not used to that. However, it was well worth it seeing the amazing and varied landscape. Redouane my driver was outstanding. He was warm, kind and very genuine and helpful, always making sure I was ok. Since I need to eat a lot of fresh vegetables, he even bought some to make a fresh salad for me during the long drives!

I loved the call to prayer everyday rising above the din of the medina. Absolutely love the culture, the history, the people, the food and the fashion. The highlight for me was staying in a tent in the Sahara desert. Nothing like watching the stars and the sunrise from the desert. Since I was traveling alone as a woman I relied on my guides to make sure I could find my way in the winding medinas. I felt safe generally although I did get harrassed slightly by men a few times. In all cases, I simply say 'la shukran' and moved on.

Morocco is a very special place and I would definitely go back again.

So pretty with the blue walls and the handcrafts displayed against them and no harrassment by vendors. Just delightful.
I especially appreciated the female tour guides as there is a conspicuous lack of presence of women in Morocco so these younger , highly educated women were such a delight to meet. Fatima in Fes and Bushra in Meknes. They were professional, kind and so interesting. They are the ambassadors for women in Morocco.
Thank you again, Sue and Ari.

I love that we were taken to all the places we wanted to go, including high quality restaurants, without having to do the planning ourselves. However, I don't think we were quite prepared for the amount of driving that the trip entailed, which definitely wore us out. It would have been nice if the team were a little more upfront about how many hours of driving the trip would involve. Also, we were given the luxury tent in the desert, which was separated from all the other travelers. I wish we would have been given the option of the standard tent instead of the luxury tent. The running water in the tent didn't actually work and we didn't use the outlets since we were there for such a short time. I would have preferred to sleep in the standard tent and save the money, had I been given the option. A tour guide at the kasbah also would have been nice, since we didn't really know much about what we were looking at. I do feel we could have done this trip for less money, although all the arrangements were very nice. It would have been overwhelming without the support of kimkim. Overall, we had a great time on our trip and enjoyed the country very much.
