Jules Domine

I was born in France, but Colombia is my home. I am fluent in Spanish, English, and French and I specialize in eco-adventure and cultural travel. Since founding Expedition Colombia in Medellin, I have worked with local Colombians and indigenous communities to celebrate Colombia’s biologic and cultural diversity, and protect some of the country’s wildest places. I can design unique travel experiences to share these places with you and connect you with warm, happy, and unforgettable personalities along the way.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"Adventures that let you see Colombia’s top natural and cultural destinations from a completely different perspective. Fun active travel: hiking, river rafting, kayaking, biking, surfing, horseback riding, etc., that naturally lead you to interact with local people on riverbanks, in mountain villages, or in Colombia’s beautiful beach towns and cities. Custom built trips with experts in fields of study such as wildlife biology, cultural anthropology, archeology, photography, botany, and language. "

How did you get involved in travel?

"I have been a professional whitewater kayaker for over ten years and had the chance, through this sport, to travel to remote, natural places across the world. Eventually, fellow athletes started to ask me for advice on trip planning and expeditions, and this naturally led to Expedition Colombia. "

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"Bay-hopping off the coast of Parque Tayrona from a chartered sailboat with Santa Marta’s greatest captains and explorers. We hiked in Parque Tayrona and visited the archeological sites, but when the tourist groups crowded the park, we escaped to sea kayak, scuba-dive, and snorkel off our boat!

What makes Colombia so magical, and why I am so grateful to call it my home, is how you can go from the black sand beaches of the Pacific Coast to the snow-capped summits of the Sierra Nevada, or from the desert of La Guajira to the rainforest of the Amazon, and always make a Colombian friend. The people are just so friendly and there are simply a million ways to share unforgettable memories. "

While we really enjoyed our trip overall, I would not book with Kimkim again without there being more transparency on the costs. We spent nearly $6800 with Kimkim for only about 9 days of services including one internal flight for 2 people. Jules did a pretty good job communicating with us but he did say the following about providing us with some tips on packing but he did not provide this detail, even after we followed up with him inquiring about this. Jules did a pretty good job communicating with us but he did say the following about providing us with some tips on packing but he did not provide this detail, even after we followed up with him inquiring about this. He later apologized saying he was on a trek in the Amazon but if he's unable to properly respond to people he should make sure someone else is monitoring his emails to do so. From Jules: "I will get in touch with you 15 days prior to the trip with the last details and a checklist for the things we recomend you bring on the trip (nothing too special, but like this you have a good idea on how to pack ! )."

Our Guides:
Nicholas was fantastic. We really loved him. 5 stars
Diana was also very good. We enjoyed the time we spent with her. 4 stars.
Qapac was okay. He spent too much time talking about politics and religion. He made assumptions about food that we would like. For example we went to a restaurant after a hike and he ordered us plates of spaghetti without consulting with us. I don't want spaghetti when I'm in South America. 3 stars.

Regarding your comments, please let me know what would you like to know about cost and I'm always happy to give you all the details you need. As for the missed email, I really apologies for that and it will not happen in the future again. Corey, our other specialist now has access to all my conversation and can fill in for me when I'm guiding.

We take note regarding Qapac, and will do more training on him before he can guide any other trips.

Our family of two teen boys + Mom & Dad had the best time on our trip to Cartagena and the Caribbean coast. Our guide Nicholas was amazing. Flexible enough to change things on the fly, but also got to every place on the itinerary. Jules and Nicholas put together a terrific itinerary based on our looking for a mix of city and country. We wanted some off the beaten path and we got it in spades! Colombia is a big country and we look forward to exploring more next time.

We had a wonderful time on our 1 1/2 Medellin tour last week. Our guide couldn't have been more friendly and informative. It was abundantly clear he loved his city and his job! Despite the mix up with the itinerary at the start, everything was smooth and fun, especially the fabulous hike to Angel Waterfalls. Definitely recommend Kimkim Tour for any sort of tour and adventure! They are so responsive and professional from all the emails to their vehicles, thank you!!
