Luc Durieux

I took over the management of Terra Brazil in October of 2014, after four years as a travel designer sharing my experiences with travelers and advising them on places to see as well as finding them good deals to discover Brazil. Travelling is about sharing great memories and authentic experiences with locals and other travelers, always respecting the local culture and surrounding nature. Our goal is to offer the best travel experience for travelers by sharing our expertise and providing quality service.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"Everywhere worth discovering! Brazil is a perfect “playground” with something for everyone, from the summit of Mount Roraima in the far north to the Aparados da Serra canyons in the south, by way of the Lençois Maranhenses, the Pantanal, the Amazon, Salvador and Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and the Green Coast.

We specialize in tailor-made trips. We offer adventurous and off-the-beaten path personalized expeditions, family trips, cultural visits and other very specific tours, such as a special mining tour, an architecture trip and a special bird-watching tour. "

How did you get involved in travel?

"I graduated in sustainable tourism management in France. After gaining experience in Africa, I worked for a travel agency that specializes in trekking in the Pyrenees and all over the world. I was constantly in touch with local agencies and their job seemed really exciting. That’s why I decided to realize my dream of exploring South America. But after stepping foot in Brazil in 2010, I ended up never leaving its borders, having been fascinated by the beautiful mix of cultures and variety of landscapes.
After four years as a travel designer sharing my experiences with travelers and advising them on places to discover, I took over the management of Terra Brazil in October of 2014."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"Probably my best travel memory is trekking across the Lençois Maranhenses National Park in the Northern Brazil. I did a 3-day trek through unique and dreamy scenery with infinite sand dunes scattered with crystal clear lagoons where we could take a swim at every possible moment. At night, we stopped in beautiful oases where locals welcomed us into their modest homes. We slept in hammocks and enjoyed beautiful sunsets over the dunes and lagoons all to ourselves."
