Bimon Soodkampa

Traveling to new places and sharing my experiences so others can feel the same sense of discovery is my main purpose. I aim to showcase the beauty of Thailand and Southeast Asia through memorable and inspiring destinations.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"I’ve traveled to many countries, but Thailand remains my favorite destination and I believe many other travelers feel the same. What I’m most passionate about, and love to recommend, are jungle trekking and mountain adventures in Chiang Mai, waterfall activities in Kanchanaburi, and scuba diving around Thailand’s beautiful islands, such as Krabi, Phuket, Koh Tao, and Koh Samui."

How did you get involved in travel?

"I have loved traveling since I was a child, which sparked my passion for studying tourism and destination development in Thailand. This passion led me to explore various areas both within the country and abroad, and these experiences inspired me to pursue and complete a degree in tourism."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I traveled alone to Koh Tao to take a scuba diving course something I had always dreamed of doing. When I arrived, I instantly fell in love with the kindness, fun spirit, and friendliness of the Thai people. My instructor was incredibly patient, and even the new friends I had just met were ready to be my dive buddies in a relaxed and supportive way. It was a memorable experience that opened up the underwater world for me one I’ll never forget."

Very happy overall with our experience. Regarding our trip activities and hotels, the only complaint was that the Chiang Mai hotel was not as we had hoped. Trying to take a shower was rather difficult, as hot water came in waves lasting less than twenty seconds. It was a bit weird and actually seemed like it was a purposeful design to reduce water usage. Normally, once you get hot water, you have it until it runs out, but here it lasted twenty seconds, and then you had to wait like thirty seconds until it came back, very consistent, like there was a pulse timer or some other hot water control measure. Didn't ruin the trip or anything. Just something I thought worth noting. It will make me do more due diligence when selecting hotels, since I had asked about the quality of the hotels and the possibility of upgrading, but was advised otherwise.

De Charme Hotel
Amphoe Muang, Si Phum, Chiang Mai

Friendly but indifferent staff that smiled occasionally. The hot water situation was abysmal; I would not stay here again for that reason alone. Good location.

Authenticity & Character
It was fine, but the hot water, per above, was a big negative. It almost had a hostel feel.

In retrospect, this was not a particularly good tour. You can't get close to the Big Buddha because it was damaged by a landslide, so it's not really worth the time. The view was nice. The time at the market was nice and fun, but part of the tour was described as a visit to a honey and pearl factory, which turned out to be just a honey and pearl store. After going to the honey store, we asked if the pearl factory was just a store, and they said yes. They were accommodating when we asked to skip it and just go to the market. Stores are fine if that's what you want to do, but that's not how it was initially presented.

The park was a good time. The highlight of the day for us was the village visit, where our tour guide took us off the beaten track and actually walked us around the village and just went the extra mile. We saw lots of tourists coming to the town and just going to the shop. That would have been disappointing from our perspective. The extra time/effort just made the experience so much better. We really loved of tour guide.
