How did you get involved in travel?

"Growing up in Japan with a blend of Filipino and Chinese heritage, my world was colorful, dynamic, and deeply rooted in diverse traditions from day one. Instead of filling our home with material toys, my parents made a conscious choice to invest in experiences, taking us to explore a new country every single year. Those annual trips were so much more than simple vacations; they were my favorite classroom, teaching me how beautiful it is to connect with people across different cultures. That upbringing completely shaped my perspective, instilling a lifelong curiosity about the world and the incredible stories within it.

Stepping into the travel industry felt like a natural extension of the life I was already living. Navigating different cultures while embracing my multicultural background gave me an appreciation for nuance, hospitality, and authentic connection. I realized I had a real knack for bridging different worlds and helping others experience that same magic of true cultural immersion. Turning that passion into a career allowed me to take everything I learned growing up and use it to craft thoughtful, unforgettable journeys for others.

"Of all the places I’ve explored, my first solo trip overseas—a journey to Vietnam—holds a sacred space in my heart. Stepping off the plane completely on my own was both exhilarating and intimidating, but the nervousness dissolved the moment I stepped into the country. Standing amid the lively energy, the scent of fresh herbs, and the organized chaos of motorbikes, I felt an immediate, overwhelming sense of familiarity. It didn't feel like I was thousands of miles away from everything I knew; instead, it felt like an echo of home, deeply echoing my own Southeast Asian heritage and the cultural roots that shaped my upbringing.

What struck me most was how effortlessly the Vietnamese people connected with me. From street vendors welcoming me with warm, knowing smiles to locals sitting beside me on low plastic stools sharing steaming bowls of phở, there was an unspoken kinship that transcended language. My mix of Filipino, Chinese, and Japanese influences allowed me to recognize the shared thread of warmth, communal care, and hospitality that runs so deeply through the region. They didn't just see a tourist; they welcomed me like family, eager to share their food, their stories, and their pride in their culture.

At the same time, being a solo traveler opened up incredible doors to connect with fellow foreigners from every corner of the globe. Gathering around hostel tables or navigating day trips together, we were all bound by a shared sense of wonder and curiosity. Sharing my perspective as a Southeast Asian with travelers who were experiencing the region's magic for the first time was deeply fulfilling. Vietnam taught me that traveling alone doesn't mean being lonely—it’s a powerful bridge where local warmth and global connections meet, reaffirming why I fell in love with exploring the world in the first place."
