Hotel Costaustralis, Puerto Natales

4.6 (23 reviews) Upscale
Contemporary waterfront hotel with clear fjord views, a cozy restaurant, and free bikes

Overview

Hotel Costaustralis stands on the waterfront of the Channel of Last Hope fjord within walking distance of the major attractions of Puerto Natales. Walk to Plaza Muñoz Gamero in five minutes or visit the Municipal History Museum in the same amount of time to learn about the area's Indigenous history and culture. Torres del Paine National Park is 1.5 hours away by car or two hours by bus.

Currently, this is the largest hotel in Puerto Natales, with 110 rooms that range from doubles to triples for larger parties. The style is contemporary and simple with neutral tones. All rooms except for the Standard have sea views, and bathrooms offer rainfall showers. Suites include a living room with windows all around to give you a panoramic view of the fjord and Puerto Natales. The hotel's central location can make it a bit noisy, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

The hotel's restaurant and lounge is a cozy place to enjoy a Chilean meal or cocktail while soaking in a view of the fjord. Free bikes are available for those who want to take a ride down the waterfront bike path of Puerto Natales, and the hotel engages in other sustainable practices like working with local producers and supporting the Indigenous community.

We were not able to get to adjoining room for our family of six but we had two rooms next to each other, which worked well. Breakfast was excellent. Excellent hotel for a stay in Porto Natales. The location is perfect for exploring town on foot. The view from the front of hotel is beautiful. The staff and breakfast buffet were fabulous. Stunning hotel with beautiful waterfront view. Our room looked out over the water and we loved that we could open the window to catch the sea breeze. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were very kind and helpful to us.

This is a great location with excellent views. You can walk to a lot of cute restaurants and shopping. The only flip side to this hotel is the noise. You can hear the wind, the traffic down the street and perhaps from the top floor if they are furiously packing. If you are a light sleeper then this might bother you. The second issue is the food. I found it to be so so. But you can easily walk to many restaurants close by. Over all a great place to stay. Read more
