Restored 19th-century hotel with contemporary rooms, a courtyard, breakfast, and an off-site cabin

Overview

Yndō Hotel is a 19th-century private mansion renovated as a lavish property near Bordeaux's downtown area. The building blends traditional French architecture with contemporary furnishing and decor. You'll be just six minutes on foot from Basilique Saint-Seurin, an 11th-century basilica with a crypt containing a marble sarcophagi. The Garonne River is a 21-minute walk from the hotel, and along the way, you'll pass other attractions such as Monument aux Girondins and Placette de Munich. If you walk an extra 10 minutes along the river toward Pont de Pierre, you'll arrive at Miroir d'eau, one of the largest reflecting pools in the world.

Each room at Yndō Hotel is thoughtfully designed to create a modern and inviting space. The hotel offers about 10 rooms and suites with titles that hint at their decor. The Secret Room, for example, is nestled further away from the other rooms and has its own terrace. The interior decor is light and neutral, with tiled floors and wooden elements to create a warm space. The Cozy Rooms are carpeted and adorned in linen furnishings and whites, with a seating area and outdoor space for added comfort. Crazy rooms are loud and bold, with an elevated Bohemian look, exposed beams, wooden features, and stone elements. Suites offer a more upgraded stay and provide larger sleeping and lounging areas. Sofas are organic and velvety, while the large desks provide a good reading space.

Yndō Hotel offers breakfast that you can enjoy in the courtyard under a towering magnolia tree. The airy interior courtyard provides a relaxing space to unwind when not exploring the city. For more dining options, visit Agnes' Table, carefully curated to create nutritious dishes that you can pair with local wines. Yndō Hotel also offers an off-site 13th room, a house at Cap Ferret. This old oyster cabin has been renovated to provide a fully furnished, contemporary property with a terrace. The interior decor features a metallic bathtub, deep sea colors, and light furnishing.

Authenticity & Character
This hotel added an unexpected dimension to my stay. Each guest room is different and carefully designed, and the themes of the rooms are very inspiring.
Location
This hotel is 10-15 minute walk from the city center along a quiet street. The closest restaurants outside of the t hotel are three blocks away.
Staff
The front desk staff was very knowledgeable about the area. I asked him how he knew so much, and he said when the front desk has time it is their job to do research about the area and become experts in the things to do in the area.
Cleanliness & Comfort
The bedding was very comfortable, and the rain shower was very relaxing
