Hugo Bailly
As Co-Founder and manager of Bretzel Travel, I help travelers by designing authentic, tailor-made journeys through Germany. My approach is highly collaborative: I stay in close contact with each traveler to understand their interests, pace, and style, then craft immersive experiences that feel personal, seamless, and full of local character. Whether it’s an FIT itinerary or a small-group adventure, my goal is to design trips that truly reflect your vision—memorable, meaningful, and uniquely yours.
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"I specialize in crafting immersive trips across Germany, with a focus on Berlin’s alternative, off-the-beaten-path scene; Bavaria’s mix of nature, culture, and mountain landscapes; and the charming small villages and windswept coastline of the North. Whether it’s uncovering hidden neighborhoods, exploring alpine trails, or experiencing authentic local life in lesser-known regions, I love helping travelers discover Germany beyond the usual highlights."
How did you get involved in travel?
"I come from a family of passionate travelers, so exploring the world has always been part of my life. I’ve lived in four countries across three continents and visited more than 40, which naturally led me toward working in travel. My brother, a friend and I co-founded Bretzel Travel in Germany—the country I call home since 2017, and a place I felt deserved to be shared as a true “under-the-radar” gem. Creating trips became a way to help others discover the authentic, surprising, and often overlooked sides of this destination I love."
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
"One of my most unforgettable travel memories is climbing a mountain in the Alps before sunrise. We started at 4 a.m., hiking in complete silence under a sky full of stars. Reaching the summit just as the first light broke over the peaks was magical—golden light spreading across the mountains, crisp air, and a feeling of absolute calm. Even better, a small group of wild ibex joined us near the top, quietly observing the sunrise with us. It felt like sharing a rare, intimate moment with nature."
