Khadija Ouamalik

Hello, I’m Khadija Ouamalik, originally from Imilchil, a beautiful mountain community in Morocco’s High Atlas. Growing up surrounded by Amazigh culture, traditions, and landscapes gave me a deep appreciation for Morocco’s rich cultural diversity. My passion for sharing my country’s culture led me to work with the U.S. Peace Corps in Morocco, where I helped American volunteers learn about Moroccan culture, traditions, and everyday life as they prepared to serve in Moroccan communities.

This experience strengthened my passion for cultural exchange and tourism and inspired me to pursue higher studies in the field. I’m currently in my second year of a Master’s degree in Tour Guiding . As part of the Under Moroccan Sun team, I’m excited to combine my knowledge of Morocco, my experience working with international visitors, and my passion for tourism to help travelers discover the best of Morocco.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"I specialize in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains, Sahara Desert, cultural and heritage experiences, and exploring Morocco’s cities and local communities. I particularly enjoy helping travelers discover Amazigh culture, local traditions, Moroccan cuisine, mountain landscapes, desert experiences, and authentic experiences beyond the usual tourist highlights. I also have experience coordinating trips and activities for international travelers and enjoy creating personalized journeys around their interests. "

How did you get involved in travel?

"My involvement in travel has also grown through exploring Morocco firsthand. I’ve had the opportunity to travel to different parts of the country, discovering its many landscapes, cultures, traditions, and ways of life. These experiences have allowed me to see Morocco from different angles and appreciate how each region has its own character, stories, and unique experiences to offer. This is what inspires me to help travelers look beyond the well-known highlights and discover the many different sides of Morocco."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"One travel experience I will never forget was traveling as a coordinator with a group of students from the U.S. while exploring northern Morocco. When we reached Chefchaouen, they were fascinated by its famous blue streets, local shops, and beautiful old medina. A funny moment happened when they kept stopping every few minutes to take photos in front of the blue walls we joked that we might never make it out! Seeing their excitement reminded me how special it is to discover Morocco through someone else’s eyes."
