How did you get involved in travel?

"When growing up, my dad used to take us for weekend visits to our far staying relatives in upcountry and once in a while to the city. These were the best times of my life as a child. We could not wait for the next visit and we almost slept in our shoes the night before the visits! The love for any travel away from home for family meetings, leisure or fun was quite fulfilling for me and I said to myself that making people happy through travel is what I wanna do and voila!"

"Being on an afternoon game drive in Maasai Mara Game Reserve with 56 guests in 12 4x4 land cruiser vehicles on a rainy day and 2 vehicles get stuck in the mad near a pride of lions! It was quite adventurous but scary at the same time. But our highly experienced tour guides used the vehicles bull bars to pull the vehicles out and guests had a great experience. They saw the Big Five Animals in 2days! "

From the planning stage with Liz to the on the ground experience everything was fantastic.
Liz included all our requirements including a last minute request for an additional member. She and Estha always replied very promptly to all our queries before and during the safari.
A special mention of our guides Rafael in Kenya and George in Tanzania.Rafael saw to it that we saw all the big five in Kenya. He already had a roadmap in his brains about what animals to see everyday ,we had to just sit... Read more

A special mention of our guides Rafael in Kenya and George in Tanzania.Rafael saw to it that we saw all the big five in Kenya. He already had a roadmap in his brains about what animals to see everyday ,we had to just sit and wait for the surprise.It was an awesome experience. George did not believe in listening to the chatter of the radio but looking out for the animals himself, I suppose that was his Masai background but that was fun too and we landed up seeing two groups of about 18 tiger cubs each ,one with no other jeeps around in Serengeti .A big Thankyou to all the above people for making our first trip to Africa memorable and now we are looking forward to going back again.

The property was good overlooking the Kilimanjaro. The only negative was it was very hot and they had only one wall fan which strangely changed speed on its own and hence the nights were very uncomfortable and it was far away from the double bed. The staff was very courteous and always smiling special mention of Julia.

This property overlooks the savannah plains of Serengeti till your eyes can reach,it has no fences and hence in the night one has to be escorted for dinner due to the wild life.It was an experience.

She fine tuned all our requests and feedback throughout the booking process and everything came out perfectly - plus, she was checking in throughout the trip and the communication was greatly appreciated. Our guide (through KimKim partner Sense of Africa) was Freddy and he was also incredible. He was extremely friendly, polite, helpful and he made our safari trip one that we'll remember forever. He was so knowledgeable about everything we did, knew all of the best spots to go and we simply cannot say enough good things about him and how great he was. I would HIGHLY recommend booking a trip through KimKim, especially an African safari (specifically to the beautiful country of Tanzania) as it was so simple to do and ended up being the best honeymoon vacation we could ever dream of.

First off, everyone we dealt with were super friendly and professional. Our accommodations, including meals and local staff, were 100% incredible. This was a bucket list trip and it did not disappoint in that department. Where things went a little sideways, was Liz got our travel dates confused from the onset. We looked to travel in September, however were advised that was not available, so we changed our dates to early mid August. As it turns out all the reservations were made for us in September. Liz called just days prior to our departure date recognizing their error. This caused us to make many changes in other trips to work around new dates for Africa. KimKim covered any out of pocket expenses we incurred, but it was a headache to change. During our trip we ran into three other problems. The resort we were at did not have us scheduled for a hot air balloon ride, which we had scheduled through KimKim, we had a tour of Stone Town in Zanzibar that included lunch, however the guides directions is that we did not have a lunch included. We ended up paying out of pocket for that. Lastly, when we departed Zanzibar for Dar es Salaam, we arrived in Terminal 3. International departures are Terminal 1, which was 3 to 4 kilometers away. Other families had rides waiting, we did not. So it was either walk with our bags or get hustled by the taxis there. I paid out of pocket again. Maybe these oversights are part of big packages, but, for the cost of the entire trip, these would be expected to come off like clock work.

Liz was very apologetic in her dealings with us. The trip dates and hot air balloon ride issues were remedied quickly. The other two were not. We love the KimKim service and our trip was tailored exactly to our wishes. I just wish it was a little more seamless in its execution. Things we had to worry about, should have been managed well in advance of our arrival.
