Michael Lynden-Bell

Hi, I'm Michael, a seasoned travel industry professional with 28 years of experience in creating unique and personalized travel experiences. Based in Sydney, Australia, I am passionate about responsible and sustainable tourism, and believe in supporting local communities and businesses. With extensive travel experience around Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and beyond, I believe in tailoring each trip to the specific needs and desires of the traveler, ensuring that every experience is unique and unforgettable.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"As a travel specialist, I take pride in offering unique and unforgettable experiences that showcase the best of a destination while staying within a traveler's budget. The experiences I suggest are tailored to personal tastes and can include unforgettable activities such as sunrise treks, hot-air ballooning, and staying in unique accommodations like floating houses or oceanfront hotels. I also prioritize introducing travelers to local foods and cultures, ensuring that they have a truly immersive experience. My goal is to create one-of-a-kind, once-in-a-lifetime experiences that will leave a lasting impression on every traveler."

How did you get involved in travel?

"I began my career with Lonely Planet Travel Guides and while there I learnt the art of exploring the lesser-known and often more interesting places outside of the classic tourist sights.

After 14 years with LP, I moved to an Asia based travel company and spend 7 years living and working in Thailand with my family. "

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I had the privilege of being on the Great Barrier Reef during the annual coral spawning event. This phenomenon, which occurs once a year, sees entire colonies of coral releasing their tiny eggs into the ocean. The sight is breathtaking, with billions of colorful flakes cascading in white, yellow, red, and orange, resembling an underwater blizzard. The coral spawning takes place at night, as it is when plankton feeders are sleeping, providing the eggs with the best chance of survival. It was truly an unforgettable experience!"
