Mohamed El Asely
I was born and raised in a small village in the Atlas Mountains, the same village where we now welcome our travelers. That detail matters to me: when I bring guests into these valleys, I am not showing them a destination, I am opening the door of my home.
I have worked in Moroccan travel for over eight years, but my real education happens on my days off. I have an old car with a lot of kilometers on it and an unshakeable habit of driving to small towns nobody visits, just to see what is there: a weekly souk, a good roadside grill, a valley I had not crossed yet. Half of the best stops in my itineraries were found that way, by accident, on a Tuesday.
That is the Morocco I design for my travelers. The famous places are in there, of course, and they deserve their fame. But the moments people write to me about afterwards are almost always the other ones: the fishing village lunch, the shortcut with the impossible view, the family that waved us in for tea.
My job is simply to make sure your trip has room for those moments to happen.
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"All of Morocco is my field: the imperial cities, the Atlas Mountains where I was born, the Sahara, and the coast. What I love designing most are trips built around real life: hiking between mountain villages, cultural journeys, family vacations, local life immersion, and community projects where travel gives something back to the places it visits.
Every trip I build is custom-made. Tell me who you are and I will draw you a Morocco that fits."
How did you get involved in travel?
"Honestly, by driving. I loved traveling from the time I was small, and as soon as I could, I started crossing Morocco region by region, and I kept falling in love: with the biodiversity, with the landscapes that change completely every two hours of road, and most of all with the people, who will invite a stranger to lunch as naturally as they say good morning. At some point I realized I was already doing the job before it was a job. Turning it into my profession was just making it official."
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
"Climbing M'Goun, one of Morocco's highest summits at 4,072 meters, when I was 20. The mountain itself was magnificent, but what stayed with me happened in the villages on the way up: the hospitality of families who had little and offered everything. On that same trail I saw with my own eyes how travel, done respectfully, helps these mountain communities live and grow. Somewhere between the summit and the last glass of tea on the way down, I decided this would be my life's work. It still is, with the same passion."
