Faroe extension, the Faroe Islands - Jul 1 - Jul 8, 2019

Traveler: Kaye D. - Local specialist: David Whale

Every day was with a different guide. Every day was unique. David adjusted the itinerary to my mobility limitation and the weather. All was good. The day on Suduroy with David was special. We got o observe a sheep shearing. The helicopter return from Mykines was a rare treat. And the "frosting on the cake" was happening onto a folk music concert at the Nordens Hus on the last day.

Our first tour of Mykines with Thomas was absolutely amazing. Transportation (drive from Tórshavn to/from ferry) were all very organized. The hike at Mykines was amazing and Thomas was extremely conscientious of our needs (couple and 5 yo son), other members in our group that needed attention, and perhaps most importantly the natural environment. He taught us a lot about the land, the community, the birds and the animals. Our second trip to Vestmanna was led by David - he did the transport to the various sites. He was easy to talk to and we also learned a lot from him. The boat trip was amazing and that boat captain was funny (repeated in English, Faroese and maybe Danish language) and a brilliant sea captain. He steered the boat into/out of these crazy crevasses and it was dramatic and gorgeous. I was initially skeptical about the cost of these tours but as they were happening we were so happy to be doing them and so grateful for the hard hard work that David and Thomas put in to make them happen. It was definitely worth it.

Perfect hiking trip, the Faroe Islands - May 16 - May 21, 2019

Traveler: Linda B. - Local specialist: David Whale

I am not sure who David is, our local specialist was Tummas. Tummas was very knowledgeable, flexible, and in great physical condition. We had wonderful hikes and on a very foggy day, which occurs often in the Faroes, we had a great road trip to remote picturesque villages driving through spectacular scenery. His personality provided pleasant company. I would highly recommend him.

KimKim, at a higher level of the experience, was difficult to communicate with and sent rather confusing emails at times. The problematic KimKim communications lost 4 people to the Faroe trip.

Thank you for your review of your tour with Heimdal Tours and especially your glowing report of Tummas. Tummas and I are really pleased that you enjoyed your Faroe Islands adventure and hope that you will spread the word. Just to refresh your memory, David is the co-owner of Heimdal Tours together with Tummas and the person who has been communicating with you since February 2019. Kimkim have been nothing but professional in their dealings with us since we starting partnering with them back in Jan 2018. I agree that their system was not the best for multiple bookings, but I know that they are taking steps to improve that.

Trip to the faroe islands, the Faroe Islands - Aug 18 - Aug 18, 2018

Traveler: Dorothy N. - Local specialist: David Whale

David and the Heimdal Tours provided a fabulous full-day private tour for us. He was very knowledgeable of the history and explained the various sites that we saw in a clear and comprehensive conversation. We were very relaxed, did not feel rushed, and very satisfied with the amount of territory we covered. It truly was very well worth the cost. We can highly recommend you take advantage of this tour when visiting Faroe Islands.

Trip to the faroe islands and iceland, the Faroe Islands - Aug 3 - Aug 8, 2018

Traveler: Katherine D. - Local specialist: David Whale

Our family of four engaged Heimdal Tours to show us Mykines Island. It was an amazing experience! Our guide Tummas was extremely knowledge about the history, flora and fauna, and the people of the Faroe Islands. It was a busy day with more than one ferry to Mykines, but, even with the additional crowds, we felt like the island was ours. We would highly recommend Heimdal Tours.

Falls in torshavn, the Faroe Islands - Jul 11 - Jul 11, 2018

Traveler: Nancy C. - Local specialist: David Whale

David was an excellent guide, however; for the cost of this tour, there was ample time to stop for lunch at a local restaurant for a complimentary hot meal, in lieu of a sandwich from a convenient store with one bottle of water for the day. The van was a beautiful new vehicle, seating 4 comfortably (with room for two more in the rear seat). David is soft spoken so a wireless headset with speakers in the 2nd and 3rd row in his roomy VW van, is highly recommended. David listened to our... read more

The van was a beautiful new vehicle, seating 4 comfortably (with room for two more in the rear seat). David is soft spoken so a wireless headset with speakers in the 2nd and 3rd row in his roomy VW van, is highly recommended. David listened to our suggestions - buy a step stool for short/petite guests, always have a trash bag on board and a roll of paper towels or napkins (we ate in his van because it was too cold/windy to eat at a outdoor picnic table). The tour itself was EXCELLENT....the island is so beautiful and seeing the local villages, getting a photo of a man on top of his roof mowing, breathtaking waterfalls, local dogs entertaining us with a game of fetch....priceless. Thanks David for sharing your knowledge and lovely island.

Hi Nancy, thank you for your review - we will always take EXCELLENT as a compliment. Just to clear up the restaurant v sandwich issue as this is a public review. Hi Nancy, thank you for your review - we will always take EXCELLENT as a compliment. Just to clear up the restaurant v sandwich issue as this is a public review. Our brief was to provide "a faster paced tour to take in waterfalls and tunnels in particular as you had a keen photographer with you" Also essential to be back at the cruise ship at 14:15. this tells us that you want to spend as much of your valuable time actually out in the Faroese country, rather than sitting in a restaurant for an hour of that time, especially as much of the time on the cruise ship is doing just that. So sandwiches on the go were the order of the day. You mentioned also that they were bought from a convenience store. As you will have seen as we travelled around the Faroese countryside, we do not have restaurants, delis and supermarkets on each street corner - quite the opposite. So the "convenience store" that you mentioned is one of many "lifeline" stores around the islands that serve as grocery store, bakery, fast food, gas station, post office etc - we are able to order sandwiches to be freshly made and packaged that day to be collected as we pass. Just to clear up an impression that we may have just stopped to buy a motorway sandwich off the shelf. We take many tours from cruise passengers that run from 09:00 until 17;:00 and we offer the choice of a packed lunch or lunch in the restaurant in Gjógv on our Highlights Tour. We also conduct VIP tours where we can offer anything from Champagne picnics to privately chartered boat with lunch included - so anything is possible. It was a great pleasure to meet you all and to spend a lovely day together with you. Regards David

Runavik to lake sorvagsvatn and return, the Faroe Islands - Jun 24 - Jun 24, 2018

Traveler: Philip K. - Local specialist: David Whale

David was great! Very knowledgeable and delivered exactly as promised. The weather did not cooperate but David made it great. We hiked several miles crossing hundreds of small streams and rocks to see a lake but the clouds never lifted. David was funny as well with his 'picture a rock cliff over there...'
