Eden Rose Grand Hotel, BW Premier Collection, Bormes-les-Mimosas
Historic estate-turned-hotel minutes from medieval village with commanding sea views, dining options, and luxe infinity pool
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- This former 1903 residence has been modernized with light Provençal touches that are polished yet not overly formal.
- You're just up the hill from Bormes-les-Mimosas' medieval center (a 5-10-minute walk) and its flower-lined streets and cafés.
- Given its hillside perch, you get that classic Côte d'Azur panorama of sea, islands, and terracotta rooftops.
- Light-filled rooms are spacious with elegant marble-clad en-suites.
- The large infinity pool overlooking the coastline is a real highlight, where lazy poolside afternoons naturally stretch into sunset drinks.
- The Eden Flow restaurant focuses on refined Mediterranean cuisine, and the small Mona Spa adds a nice, relaxing touch.
- Pass kimkim travelers give high marks to the very attentive reception staff.
- Private parking is available at a daily rate with reservations from June to October; otherwise, you're competing with the public.
- Because the hotel sits above the village, getting around the region (or down to the beaches in Le Lavandou) is easiest with a car. Walking into town is possible but involves hills.
Authenticity
While Eden Rose Grand Hotel is part of the Best Western Premier Collection of hotels, it upholds its historic charm in Provençal style (sunny and comfortable yet refined), occupying a restored 1903 residence overlooking the Mediterranean in Bormes-les-Mimosas, a medieval hilltop village recognized as one of France's most picturesque. Owners Monika and Juvénal da Cunha have thoughtfully preserved the estate's heritage while adding an elegant, romantic aesthetic inspired by the rose found in and the surrounding landscape. The hotel's gardens are replete with regional vegetation: olive trees and cork oaks, cacti, and aromatic mimosas, especially fragrant during warm, humid evenings.
Location
Set on the Bormes-les-Mimosas slopes, Eden Rose views sweep across the terracotta rooftops and trees to the sea, and the nearby trio of Golden Islands. You're just outside the historic village center, a 5-minute downhill walk, where you'll find narrow medieval lanes, colorful houses, and flower-filled terraces, with access to cafés, restaurants, and shopping. You'll need a car to explore your surroundings (concierge can order you a taxi). It's a 12-minute winding drive to the beaches of Le Lavandou (much less to reach local sites, including the Bormes Museum of History and Art), and 15-40 minutes to notable viewpoints and other points of interest, with the Toulon-Hyères Airport about 30 minutes away. There's private parking for a fee from June to October, with two electric vehicle charging stations.
Rooms & Bathrooms
Rooms are bright and airy, modestly decorated with spare, though plush furnishings, a neutral palette with bold pink and blue accent rugs (with a large, stylized rose motif) and throw pillows, many opening up to panoramic views of the Mediterranean, the Golden Islands, or the village and surrounding vegetation. King or queen beds with premium bedding are comfortable, while larger VIP and luxury categories add spacious layouts and private outdoor balconies or terraces. Bathrooms are simple yet well-appointed, stocked with organic French bath products and plush linens, and most have separate toilet areas. Accessible rooms with walk-in showers are also available for travelers with reduced mobility.
Amenities
Dining centers on Eden Flow, the hotel's restaurant serving gourmet breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner of refined Mediterranean fare prepared with fresh, daily ingredients. Guests can also relax with a drink at the Rose Garden terrace bar, the Victoria Lounge Bar, or the seasonal pool bar, all delivering on those scenic vistas over the village and coastline. The cliffside infinity pool is a highlight, set against a wide Mediterranean panorama and backed by a sunbed-lined pool deck. Mona Spa features treatment rooms for massages and facials, plus a restorative aquatic area with a leisure pool, sauna, and hammam.
Family-Friendliness
The hotel makes a thoughtful effort to welcome families, offering flexible room options, from standard rooms with cribs to larger family suites and connecting rooms that can accommodate up to five guests. Parents traveling with young children can request baby supplies, including a crib, changing table, baby bathtub, and bottle warmer, helping families pack lighter, while little extras like daily snacks, welcome treats, and board games keep kids entertained. The restaurant also provides high chairs and booster seats.
