Specializing in personalized tours, I love to help travelers partake in authentic experiences that allow them to immerse themselves in Iceland's stunning landscapes and culture fully. Whether it's hiking, exploring remote areas, or diving into local traditions, my goal is to craft unforgettable trips that focus on truly connecting with the environment!
I live in Iceland for half of the year and love to continue exploring every corner of this beautiful island by taking road trips whenever I have the chance.
My (not-so-secret) passion is learning about every legend and folk tale I can find. I will be more than happy to tell you a few!

How did you get involved in travel?

"I am originally from France and discovered a deep love for Iceland a few years ago.
I used to work as a Tour Manager in the performing arts, so I always loved organising travels suitable to everyone's specificities and preferences.
Since then, I have dedicated myself to helping others experience this extraordinary land's unique beauty and wonders. "

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"-I will never forget the first time I visited Jökulsárlón and Diamond Beach!
Seeing giant icebergs drifting across the lagoon before ending up on the beach while sipping some hot coffee was truly a special experience.
Paired with a hike on the Vatnajökull glacier and some delicious mushroom soup at the end of the day, this was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
-My first time touring the Ring Road in Iceland in early March. We were surprised at the last minute by a strong gale in the Westfjords and found refuge in our friend's home. Since all roads were closed, we explored this small fishing village and ended up in the local outdoor hot pool. Soaking in wonderfully hot water while snow is falling on your head turned out to be my favorite memory of this trip!"

Icelandic hospitality is top-notch. The food is freshly prepared and incredibly good. The hotel/hostel staff are helpful and welcoming. We changed hotels nearly every night of a 2 week trip and only had 1 or 2 minor issues, which is pretty incredible! It was so nice to have everything booked and arranged so that we could just enjoy the experience.

Guesthouse Gullsól

The guesthouse made a great home base for our time in Grimsey. The rooms were small but comfortable. We had a cool view of the dock as a fisherman offloaded his catch of fish. You can bring food and prepare it in the guesthouse kitchen or eat at the restaurant nearby. The restaurant was very good. Just be aware, if you need groceries, the grocer is only open for a few hours each day and, as you can imagine, has limited options. Grimsey is a special place. It is absolutely worth it to stay a night or two!

Authenticity & Character
You're staying in an old house converted into a hostel and shop. They did a good job retaining the feel of a home while making it accessible to guests.

It was so neat to be able to stay on a working farm. The owner, Mangus, was friendly and happy to show us around the horse stable. We loved getting to watch the mom and baby horses grazing in the pasture near the house. The rooms are comfortable and clean with an amazing view!

Authenticity & Character
It's on a working farm. You can have a chat with the farmer and learn more about life in Iceland.
Location
Great halfway stop between Akureyri and the Westfjords or Snaefellsness Peninsula.

Sel - Hótel Mývatn
Myvatn

The staff was very helpful and hospitable. We stayed two nights during the halfway point of our trip and were able to use their laundry service (2 night stay is required). The rooms were very nice. They felt more like an American hotel due to the larger size, bathtub, and having several electrical outlets throughout the room. The restaurant on site is very good with a large selection including a buffet option that includes traditional Icelandic foods like lamb stew and fermented shark.

Authenticity & Character
Location
Very close to several scenic stops in the area. You don't have to drive far to see a lot.
Staff
We had a mix up because of how our rooms were booked. The staff discovered the issue and resolved it quickly.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Very clean. Larger rooms with lots of electrical outlets. The only downside was the absence of a fridge in the room.
Skuggi Hotel by Keahotels
Reykjavík

Very nice hotel with friendly staff. The breakfast was excellent. They also have a free parking garage for guests. We really appreciated not having to worry about finding and paying for overnight parking.

Authenticity & Character
Location
Close to the restaurants and shops, but off the path enough to avoid a lot of noise.

Hótel Kea by Keahotels
Akureyri

The hotel is very nice. It's probably the fanciest hotel we stayed at in Iceland. The staff are very helpful and the breakfast was good. However, since it's right off of the main street, it can be very loud in the evening with events going on or people enjoying themselves outside. We stayed two nights and there was a good amount of noise both nights when we were trying to sleep. Our room on the east side of the hotel also got quite warm in the morning with the sun streaming in.

Authenticity & Character
Location
Very convenient to the restaurants and shops in town. However, that brings with it a lot of noise.
Staff
We stayed two nights with a trip to Grimsey in between. The staff was very accommodating in letting us store our luggage there while we were gone.

Hvammstangi Cottages
Hvammstangi

This was one of my favorite places to stay in Iceland. It's tucked away in the countryside of a small town. Right outside of our cabin, we had a view of a small stream with several birds. Just beyond that was a field with grazing horses. Even though there are 8 cabins bunched together, it was so quiet and peaceful.

Location
The view was spectacular, and it was so peaceful!
Cleanliness & Comfort
It's a tiny cabin, but it's set up well. It felt like we had plenty of space. The bunk bed is tucked into a corner, which made it feel darker in the room at night. Probably one of the best night's sleep I had on the trip.
Hotel Laugarvatn
Laugarvatn

We had a great stay at Hotel Laugarvatn. It's a easy drive from Thingvellir National Park, Geyser, and Gullfoss. We ate dinner at Lindin (so good!) and walked down to the lake by the geothermal baths to see the steaming sand where they bury and bake the geyser bread. Very cool area!

Authenticity & Character
Location
Central to several stops on the Golden Circle route.

The lava show was so good! It was incredible to see the lava flow and watch how it quickly changed form. It was so great to work with Alicia. She was so helpful and very responsive! I recommend doing a lot of your own research too so you can feel confident adjusting your plan if needed. I also recommend training ahead of time if you plan on hiking a lot. The elevation is a bear! 10 days was a great amount of time for our trip but would have loved maybe 2 more days. We rented a 4x4 and explored the golden circle and down to the south.
This was the greatest trip of my 50 years!

This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at! We had a superior room. It was hands-down the nicest room I’ve ever stayed in. The design of the hotel is wide open and airy, floor to ceiling windows to take the view. Lots and lots of seating areas, beautiful breakfast buffet and fantastic bar menu. I highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich. The sheep wandering around the hotel grounds was so appreciated and charming. The outdoor bathing experience was perfect. If only they had a spa!!

Puffin watching tour at the Ingolfshofdi cape
Iceland

The puffin tour was hands down one of the best things!! The guide was super knowledgeable and third generation. They started as sheep farmers and now run these tours. Really cool tractor ride out to the island and fun walk up the black sand dune. Once up to the grassy part of the island you are not prepared for what you see! 100’s of puffin flying, building nests just hopping around. You can get so close to them they aren’t afraid of you unless you make fast movements. We were really lucky with the weather just a little rain to keep them close to home but not enough to send them into their nests. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Alicia listened closely to what we wanted, understood our traveling vibe - how much we wanted to drive in a day, the kinds of things we wanted to see and do and the kind of experience we wanted to have - and she planned an itinerary that matched the mandate exceptionally well. She was very responsive and communicative, had great ideas, and even handled a last-minute glitch seamlessly. Alicia helped us create a self-guided portion of the trip with a short group-guided portion and the combination was great. It is difficult to say what part of our trip was the most memorable as each natural wonder seemed more beautiful and awesome than the next. We enjoyed staying near the Harbor in Rejkyavik and beyond that it is hard to choose between the waterfalls, black sand beaches, glacier lakes and ice formations and lava fields. But one thing is certain: a steamy hot water lagoon experience is a must and is amazing whether it's sunny or cloudy and rainy.

Alicia was responsive and knowledgeable, and it's hard to pick a favorite part of our trip as everything was wonderful in very different ways! The only things that kept the experience from being a 5/5 review were finding out when we got to our hotel in the Westman Islands that we were on the 3rd floor of a hotel with no elevator (and a lot of heavy luggage), and not having clearer check in instructions attached to our reservation at the Glacier View Guesthouse. I also had to spend several hours plotting out drive times between each attraction and average time spent at each, in order to ensure we'd arrive at our timed destinations on time and not miss out on anything. Having this information available ahead of time would have saved me several hours of work, but I'm glad I took the time to do it as it made our trip much less stressful!
