Claire Monfray

Born and raised in France I grew up in a multicultural family. Passionate for languages, I realised later that this passion had for roots my will to connect with other people and cultures. This passion brought me for 10 years of my life in Ireland, and in a "3-year 4-continent" trip

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"I specialize in the Ireland, the UK and France. The activities I focus on are a high-end selection of private guides and lodgings. I adore sharing activities and experiences"

How did you get involved in travel?

"It all started with a year of studies at Aberdeen University in Scotland!"

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"While traveling in Malaysia I met a lovely lady from New Zealand at a cafe. We talked for 20 minutes max and connected on Facebook without real expectations. Almost a year after, when I went traveling in New Zealand she invited me to visit her family. I discovered amazing Picton region and spent 10 memorable days with her family learning about rugby, everything about Mustang car and horse racing, hikes in the Abel Tasman... "

The flow of the itinerary and timing was amazing---so we were always able to arrive in destinations on time and explore. We loved our drive around Dingle with Aodan, and our drive in northern Ireland with James, who even "went off course" at our request to go find ancestors in rural Derry. Also, the cab tour in Belfast was eye-opening and had so many personal touches and stories to bring it to life. And the weather was so perfect to top it all off.

What should have been my first clue, I got a call from a hotel in Dublin at 2 AM in the morning trying to confirm our stay for a day before we even left Canada.

Second. The final e-mail outlining our details of the trip was addressed to someone else and it created a lot of
confusion.

The info from the service provider was very awkward to use and it took some time to sort it all out.
The information we needed access at least once every day of our trip was a royal pain to get to.
It involved many hidden steps every time.
The process is listed below….
1) Find the email containing the trip info
2) Find where it says read more.
3)Open trip summary.
4) Locate view details.
5) Scroll to. The current day.
6) Then open show details.
It shouldn’t have involved all those steps every time.
Our excursion to an abandon village never listed a time for our private tour. Luckily we decided to just go there and we arrived at the correct time. Lucky.
The distillery tour indicated that we needed a voucher for the tour. Wrong. They had quit giving tours last year. Fortunately we did get a self guided look at their equipment and had a tasting that is always free.
We booked a this trip to Ireland because of the wonderful experience we had with your company with our trip to Croatia two years ago.
To put it succinctly, if this was our first experience with KimKim Travel it would have been our last.

We recently returned from an incredible 8-day family trip to Ireland, and we cannot thank your team enough for the care, detail, and thoughtful planning that went into our itinerary. From the very beginning, everything was smooth, organized, and clearly designed with our family’s interests in mind.

From start to finish, we felt fully supported. Even through our arrival delay, Claire and her team were available and made the needed adjustments seemlessly. The personalized itinerary balanced scenic drives, cultural highlights, and hands-on adventures perfectly — something that kept all four of us engaged, including two teens! The mix of guided experiences and flexible time allowed us to explore at our own pace without feeling rushed.

Highlights of our trip included:
The Falconry Adventure in Killarney was a family favorite and something we’ll be talking about for years.

Kayaking on the Lakes of Killarney was both peaceful and thrilling (when the wind picked up on our return paddle).

The Cliffs of Moher, especially seeing them from the water, was absolutely breathtaking.

And of course, the warm welcomes and live traditional music in local pubs made the evenings feel like a celebration.

We also appreciated the well-chosen accommodations — each hotel was comfortable, family-friendly, and conveniently located. The included breakfasts were excellent and helped us fuel up before big days of exploring.

Your team's attention to detail, from Google Maps links and local tips to activity vouchers and backup contacts, made this trip feel easy and stress-free. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches for navigating car rentals and parking.

This was our first trip to Ireland, and because of your team, it definitely won’t be our last. We’d recommend your services without hesitation to anyone looking for a well-curated, immersive, and family-friendly travel experience.

Thank you again for helping us create memories that will last a lifetime.

We had a great trip and very much appreciated the work of Claire and kimkim. Our trip needed to be postponed because of a pilot strike at the last minute. We did need to pay some fees, but we did not need to do any of the work. Things that were chosen fit us well. We loved to see so many sites and have a chance to visit with relatives on this trip. I particularly enjoyed going to the pubs in Galway and hearing some Irish music, seeing the Cliffs at Kilkee (the Cliffs of Moher could be skipped in my opinion once we walked at Kilkee - many fewer tourists there and a nice restaurant to have breakfast, lunch or a snack at the base), and touring Guinness. We had nice accommodations that fit our budget. We got good recommendations for things to see in Dublin.

If you can find a way to get off the beaten path to meet locals, please do so. I had the wonderful opportunity to visit with cousins I knew and meet some cousins I did not know. They showed us where my ancestors came from and the beauty of the Knockmealdown Mountains where Johnny Cash was inspired to write is song - Forty Shades of Green. Ancestry research had been done by relatives and I will never forget walking in their footsteps.

Aherlow House Hotel & Lodges
Aherlow

Cool, hunting-lodge style hotel. Old Europe feel. Loved the bar. Came on hottest day of the year and was still comfortable without air-conditioning.

Nice walk, but our guide was a little quieter than I would have liked. More walking than sharing.

Much better experience than I expected. Very interactive and detailed! If you like history and appreciate Irish History, it is a must do!

The boat was not what I expected. I liked seeing the monestary, and you need a boat to get there, but not much said by the guides.

Did Guinness and a bus tour. Loved Guinness tour, Trinity College and the Walking Tour on the last leg. Not sure if we needed the hop on and hop off tour, but it did give us an overview of the city.

Cliffs of Moher Visitor Center tickets

Center's short experience was not an IMAX experience and my least favorite part of the trip. Walking the Cliffs at Kilkee was so much more beautiful and so many fewer people to see. This might be the one thing in Ireland that I would not do again.

They have improved this experience. I might give it a 4.5 because I did not appreciate it as much as all my other experiences, but for some people it would be a 5.

Hi Patrick,

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I’m truly delighted to hear that you had such a memorable trip to Ireland. Your detailed feedback is incredibly valuable, and I’m sure it will resonate with others who, like you, are looking to explore Ireland off the beaten path.

I’m glad you enjoyed the Cliffs at Kilkee—it's a hidden gem, and your comparison with the Cliffs of Moher is spot on. The tranquility and charm of Kilkee, especially during peak season, offer a more intimate and equally breathtaking experience.

It’s heartwarming to know that visiting with your relatives and walking in your ancestors' footsteps made your journey even more special. The beauty of the Knockmealdown Mountains and the connection to Johnny Cash's "Forty Shades of Green" must have been truly inspiring.

Thank you again for choosing us to help plan your trip. If you’re ever looking to explore France, the UK, or Italy, we would be thrilled to assist you with another unforgettable adventure.

Warm regards,
Claire & High Point Holidays Team
