High Point Holidays and Randonnees Outre-Manche

Since taking our first booking in 2007, High Point Holidays has grown from small beginnings in the Beaujolais region of France to cover active holidays across the UK France, and elsewhere in Europe.

We specialise in active holidays including hiking and cycling trips, mainly self-guided, where travellers immerse themselves in the local way of life, through our careful choice of accommodation, location, and routes.

We are a truly independent tour operator; not part of a large company. The majority of our holidays are set up or created by us based on our principles, so we have full control of all aspects of the trip from the choice of the guest house and transfers to the smaller key details.

The philosophy of the company has been clear from the beginning; to provide good quality, active holidays with a commitment to personal and flexible service. We create unique walking holidays with authentic local experiences.

We are here to help you every step of the way. You can contact us always, before, during and after your holiday, to ensure your satisfaction.

PLEASE NOTE: all of experiences and activities are subject to availability at the time of booking.

I'm so glad the itinerary came together perfectly for the two of you. The Killary Sheep Farm and Faha Falconry are such special experiences, and it warms my heart to hear how much you loved them. And the ebike tour along Galway's coastline is one of my absolute favorites to recommend, nothing quite like taking in that scenery on two wheels!

I'm also thrilled to hear the accommodations exceeded your expectations. Beautiful surroundings and warm, hospitable staff make such a difference, and it sounds like everything delivered.

Thank you for trusting High Point Holidays to help craft your Irish adventure. It was a true pleasure, and I hope Ireland calls you back again someday. Safe travels! 🍀

Booking my mom’s 70th birthday trip to Scotland through Kimkim was one of the best travel decisions I’ve ever made. Stephen planned a truly beautiful journey from the moment we landed in Edinburgh until our plane took off nine days later. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged, allowing us to experience both the iconic highlights of Scotland and deeply personal moments tied to our family history.

Of course, even the best travel plans can encounter unexpected changes. When our itinerary was suddenly disrupted, Stephen and his team stepped in immediately and seamlessly organized a last-minute hotel stay in London along with train transportation to Edinburgh. What could have been a stressful situation turned into just another memorable part of the adventure thanks to their calm professionalism and quick problem-solving.

Throughout the trip we were able to visit our ancestral home and explore so many unforgettable places: Scone Palace, Blair Atholl Castle, the breathtaking Isle of Skye, and a captivating boat tour in Oban where dolphins followed alongside our boat. Every stop felt meaningful, magical, and perfectly paced.

This trip gave my mother memories she will cherish for the rest of her life, and I am incredibly grateful to Stephen and the Kimkim team for making her milestone birthday so special. I cannot recommend them highly enough for anyone planning a personalized and unforgettable journey through Scotland.

Dear Ray and Family,

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful review—it truly means a lot.

It was such a pleasure working with you again, and we're absolutely delighted to hear that this Ireland trip was just as special as your time in Scotland. Knowing that the whole family—including your daughters and son-in-law—had such an incredible experience is exactly what we hope for when putting these journeys together.

We loved reading your highlights, especially your time with Aodan—he really is fantastic, and we're so glad he helped make the Dingle and Slea Head tour such a standout day. It sounds like you were treated to Ireland at its very best (and with good weather too, which is always a bonus!).

Thank you as well for your trust and loyalty—it genuinely means the world to myself and the team that you return to plan your travels with us. Building these experiences for you and your family is something we truly enjoy, and we're so grateful to be a part of your travel memories.

Whenever you’re ready to start thinking about the next adventure, the team and I would be absolutely delighted to help bring it to life.

Warmest wishes to you all,

Adrian was wonderful to work with planning our trip. I have booked 6 trips with KimKim and their partners in the last two years. Adrian was the most responsive we have had. He always got back to me quickly and answered my questions fully. He has a wonderful personality and I would highly recommend him.
My only compaint was not with Adrian but with his companies policies. This was the shortest and most expensive trip we have ever taken, even though we have been to Norway and Australia also within the last 2 years booking through KimKim. Not only were these trips longer, but we had lots of private guides with additional drivers for the tours. I feel the price for this trip could have been much lower than the price we received. While on our trip one of our drivers drove 3 to 4 hours to pick us up and then 3 to 4 hours back home after dropping us at the end of the day. He did this 3 days. I talked with many of the hotel staff and tour operators in the area and were told there were plenty of people in our location we were staying that could have been booked for us and saved us some money instead of having someone drive such long distances for our tours. I ended up spending $10,000 more than I had originally planned. I asked many times if there were any suggestions on ways we could cut down the cost and was always told only if I cut down the amount of days of our trip. That was not the case when I booked with other companies for trips to Norway and Australia. They were happy to suggest things that did not take away from what we were seeing but would help us cut cost, such as taking a public ferry to see the same things we would see on a private boat. When I tried to come up with ways to bring the price down myself by changing to a train trip instead of private driver, the price didn't go down. When I suggested hotels that were listed for lower prices on booking.com than the hotels listed, the price didn't go down.
I was also told they could not book us window seats on our plane trip to Edinburgh but we had to have aisle seats, which I can only assume was because they would have had to pay extra for a window seat and I had already paid for the trip by then and they wanted to keep every penny. Because there were window seats available beside us and the air hostess suggested we take them so my husband and I could sit together.
When we arrived at the airport in Edinburgh the driver wasn't there and I called them and was told they were given the information to not pick us up until 9 am. We arrived, received our luggage and were ready to leave at 8:10. My information did say 9 but also said the driver would watch the arrivals and the time could change. Other than that time the drivers were always there at least 10 minutes early to pick us up.
I was also told they couldn't reserve seats for us on the train journey because we had asked for passenger assist because my husband has problems walking. So I told them to take off the passenger assist and reserve the seats and we would make it on our on. But I decided to check at the train station and we were listed for the passenger assist even though we had reserved seats. So not sure why we were given the incorrect information.
Over all the trip went smoothly and other than the price I was happy with the trip. I guess I should have shopped around for a better price, but we had been happy with the companies KimKim had partnered was with in the past and Adrian was wonderful to work with, so we just paid the premium price and went on our trip.

They wouldn't let us check in a couple of hours early when we arrived. We asked if we could leave our smaller suitcase for 5 days until we came back to the hotel to stay again before catching a flight home. We were told no by the staff when we checked in. My husband who has memory problems asked again to a different person at the desk that evening when we got back from sight seeing and was told we could. So that meant they could have done it when we asked the first time. The first time we stayed they gave us a room very close to the reception desk which was helpful for my husband who has problems walking. Hi Sonya,

Thanks a mil for the kind words, it truly means a lot. You were an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish, and I really appreciate the time and care you put into planning your trip with me. I’m delighted to hear that overall you had a smooth and enjoyable experience.

I also genuinely appreciate you sharing your feedback so openly. I completely understand your perspective on the pricing, and it’s a fair point to raise. Ireland (and Scotland) can be surprisingly expensive destinations, particularly when it comes to private driver/guides and ensuring the level of comfort and reliability you needed for your husband.

At High Point Holidays, we focus on working with trusted, vetted partners to make sure everything runs smoothly on the ground, especially for more complex itineraries like yours. That does sometimes mean costs are higher than what you might find when booking individual elements independently, but it allows us to provide a fully supported, seamless experience with dependable drivers, properly insured operators, and consistent service throughout the trip.

That said, I completely hear your comments around flexibility and cost-saving alternatives, and it’s valuable feedback for me going forward.

I’m really glad to hear that, aside from the pricing concerns, the trip itself went well and that you enjoyed your time, that’s ultimately the most important thing.

Thanks again for trusting me with your travels, Sonya. It was genuinely a pleasure working with you, and I hope you and your husband have many more wonderful adventures ahead.

That being said, I know I need to be more flexible when I travel to account for things like 1) phone not working (it was necessary to have a cell phone), 2) transit worker strikes, 3) illness changing plans. Even then, I felt confident in knowing that if I reached out for help, Jane and her team were there to provide what I needed.

This is a quaint hotel in a great part of London that is near the Metro and yet has a neighborhood feel. Close to many diverse restaurants. I felt safe and the rooms are clean. The only drawback is that there is the same (but well apportioned) breakfast served every day.

This is a clean and comfortable hotel, but the room was the smallest I've ever been in. It had everything we needed; it was just small. The bed was comfortable, as was the room. The view was OK. The location was great in that it was close to the city Metro and suburb trains, a few blocks from many great restaurants and bakeries and shops and fairly close to the Arc. The breakfast was the same every day, so that got to be a bit stale at the end of our stay. The staff are so friendly and will help with anything you ask. The elevator is a bit small, but the way it empties to the dark, circular staircase was a bit treacherous for my eyes. A better understanding of the train system would have helped us save some money and some lost time as we went in the wrong direction a couple of times. During our final walk-through conversation, it was a good thing we took notes as those notes were very helpful in finding meeting points of tours. Also, if you want to go to the top of the Arc, understand that the only safe way to get there is via a tunnel from the Champs-eLysees side.

I'm so glad to hear you had a wonderful trip and felt well supported throughout. That's exactly what I strive for, and knowing that it made a difference brings me real joy.

What a beautiful way to sum up Ireland — its people really are its greatest treasure, aren't they? Their warmth and genuine friendliness are something that stays with you long after you've come home.

I'm thrilled that all the experiences we selected were such a good fit for you — the sheep farm, falconry, bike tour, Cliffs of Moher, jaunting car, abbey, and Rock of Cashel. It's so rewarding to know that the activities aligned perfectly with your interests. That's exactly the kind of feedback that makes the planning process so worthwhile!

On the hotel front! I'm sorry the Green didn't quite hit the mark. I had selected what I believed to be one of their more conventional room configurations, but I'll follow up with them about the setup and pass along your comments.

I'm grateful for your kind words and for trusting High Point Holidays with your Irish adventure. I truly hope we'll have the chance to plan another trip for you soon, there are so many wonderful destinations waiting to be explored, from Scotland and England to Italy and beyond!

Warmly,
Claire & The High Point Holidays Team

Hi Jean-Marie!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about your tailored trip to Scotland - it truly means a lot to us. We’re delighted to hear that, despite the airline problems (unrelated to our work), your trip turned into a beautiful and memorable experience. We’re really glad we were able to step in quickly, arrange the London hotel, reorganise the travel by train the following day, and make sure you still arrived in Scotland as smoothly and comfortably as possible. Supporting you behind the scenes and being there when plans unravel is an important part of what we do.
It’s wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed Edinburgh Castle (it certainly earns that uphill climb!), the birthday high tea, the castles and ruins, Loch Ness, Oban (your highpoint), and especially the hike to the Fairy Pools. We’re also very pleased that the accommodations suited you well and that everything felt organised and easy to follow throughout the trip.
Thank you as well for sharing your detailed hotel feedback - it’s incredibly helpful for us and future travellers alike (and we’ll remember those heroic earplugs against seagull noise!).
It was a pleasure planning this journey for you, and we’d love to help again whenever you feel like dreaming up your next adventure. Perhaps France next time?
