High Point Holidays and Randonnees Outre-Manche

Since taking our first booking in 2007, High Point Holidays has grown from small beginnings in the Beaujolais region of France to cover active holidays across the UK France, and elsewhere in Europe.

We specialise in active holidays including hiking and cycling trips, mainly self-guided, where travellers immerse themselves in the local way of life, through our careful choice of accommodation, location, and routes.

We are a truly independent tour operator; not part of a large company. The majority of our holidays are set up or created by us based on our principles, so we have full control of all aspects of the trip from the choice of the guest house and transfers to the smaller key details.

The philosophy of the company has been clear from the beginning; to provide good quality, active holidays with a commitment to personal and flexible service. We create unique walking holidays with authentic local experiences.

We are here to help you every step of the way. You can contact us always, before, during and after your holiday, to ensure your satisfaction.

We challenged her by needing trains, buses and drivers to get us around Wales and some of England (none of us wanted to drive). She managed that task very well, and not having to drive lowered our stress level considerably! She put together excellent tours for us. Every tour guide was just perfect for us; they helped us feel at home and taught us so much about the London Borough Market, the Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire coast in Wales, the mining history of the Cornwall regions, and the county of Yorkshire. Just wonderful. The accommodations were sometimes challenging with the size of the rooms, the shower facilities, and the locations. But overall, it was a wonderful trip!

This was our stay in St. David’s, and the place itself had everything we requested. A full kitchen, living room, etc. We could spread out and relax in this space. It was located a bit further out of the center of town than we would have liked, but I imagine it could have been challenging to find this kind of accommodation right in town.

The location of this apartment was wonderful; a great view of the bay and very near shops and restaurants. Our only complaint was that it was situated over a bar that on our first night, had very loud karaoke until midnight. We were very concerned about the next 2 nights, but fortunately, the bar closed after the first night for renovations. So we feel like we lucked out. The narrow staircase up to the apartment was a bit of a challenge for my husband who has balance issues with his feet, but he managed.

Our room was so small that we had no place to put our suitcases, let alone our clothes, etc. The bathroom was no more than 4’x5’, including the shower, which made it very difficult for my husband (who has significant balance issues) to navigate the shower. The location was good, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

She showed us the beauty of southern Wales, and gave us a real insight of what it is like to live there. She also gave us the choice of seeing St. David’s cathedral or a visit to the best ice cream ever (on a dairy farm). We chose the ice cream and didn’t regret it. We were very disappointed with this hotel. Hotel was beautiful, centrally located, with parking adjacent, and had a huge room with a view across the canal to City Hall. Our room was very warm and the air conditioning was not working. We called the front desk who sent up someone to look at it. We had a wonderful trip. Each and every stop was unique and interesting. From urban settings to small towns and even the seldom traveled Shetland Islands, the scenery was beautiful. We found out many new and unknown facts about England and Scotland and their rich and interesting history. Our guide Paul, in London was very knowledgeable about all things Beatles. When we got to Edinburgh Robert gave an excellent walking tour of the city and told us many stories of unknown facts about events that have occurred in the town. From there we headed out into the country where we received gracious hospitality at all of our lodging stops. We were especially happy with our stay on the Isle of Sky and also the Shetland Islands. When we arrived in Lerwick Lara gave a wonderful and car tour of the town and some other historical sites on the Island. She was interesting, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We all enjoyed the day with her.
After the Shetlands we head back to London for some more rich history tours with Angie and Tracy. The walking tour to the Buckingham Palace was interesting and Angie was full of fun facts about the Royal family and the traditions. Tracy took us on a Black cab tour of London. Tracy was also interesting and knowledgeable. She took us to some local shops and eateries unique to London. She was great as well and we enjoyed our day with her. We could not have had more fun. Stephen you kept us busy and entertained. It was better than I imagined it could be. Thank you for the great planning and great guides!

Thank you so much for your wonderful note — it absolutely made my day. I’m delighted to hear how much you enjoyed every stop along the way, from the bustling streets of London to the windswept beauty of the Shetland Islands. It sounds like you truly experienced the full spectrum of what makes England and Scotland so special.

I loved hearing that Robert’s walking tour through Edinburgh was a highlight — he has a gift for bringing the city’s history to life with those quirky little-known stories. I can just imagine the four of you relaxing afterwards at Tigerlily, perhaps reminiscing later over your elegant afternoon tea at the Signet Library!

It also sounds like you made the most of your time in the Highlands — the whisky connoisseur in Blair Atholl would have been thrilled to share his knowledge (and perhaps a dram or two), and your 4x4 adventure through the Cairngorms with Steve must have been truly unforgettable. He always runs a great experience.

I’m so glad the mix of guides — Paul, Robert, Lara, Angie, and Tracy, and all the others— helped bring each stage of your journey to life, each in their own unique way. Thank you for being such engaged and good-humoured travellers; it was a real pleasure to plan this adventure for you all.

Every day was absolutely perfect for us. Hotel locations were excellent, recommendations by Jane/KimKim were spot on. The one and only glitch was when we arrived at the airport, the driver wasn’t there. We phoned and they had planned for the next day. However they immediately came to retrieve us, so no major impact. Fortunately the weather was also perfect with the very first rain drops en route to the airport to leave. Thank you Jane, and I will definitely be using KimKim again in the future!

Claire suggested an itinerary for 9 days in Connemara and Galway as an add-on to a group trip I was taking to County Clare. I just loved the natural beauty of Inishbofin, the Killary Fjord and Connemara National Park. The excursions and activities she put together for us - Kylemore Abbey, sheep and oyster farms, kayaking and a food tour in Galway - were both educational and enjoyable. And our accommodations were authentic and charming.

Claire really went above and beyond in accommodating a last minute additional person to the itinerary and even more last minute logistics issues with our rental car. I can’t thank her enough for her patience and diligence in working through those issues under difficult circumstances. She has even assisted us after our trip ended.

Great location and facilities. Very unimpressed with front desk staff worker who was present during short stay. Extremely unhelpful, unmotivated and unknowledgeable about basic matters.

I'm also glad I could assist with the last-minute changes and logistics. We certainly experienced a bit of a roller coaster, but I'm happy Kathleen was able to join you ultimately.

If you ever plan to explore more of Ireland, the UK, France, or need assistance in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you many more wonderful adventures!

We were contacted by Stephen Malloy in April 1, 2025 and began planning our Ireland Vacation. From the beginning, Stephen made us feel like he cared about making this trip an adventure for us. We exchanged emails, had two videos chats, questioners, and even received feed back and help from his partner in crime: Elisa Gjepali, Two for One! We must have been important or a big pain.
We received our first itinerary on April 6 and it was almost perfect. We could tell Stephen had listened to us and was trying to make our dream vacation a reality. A few changes were made and we had booked our trip by April 26 and excited to be on our way.
From May through September, Stephen or Elisa answered many. many question we had and not just about our bookings and outing. We had never traveled internationally and had no idea about anything. From travel insurance to customs procedures, they helped us feel comfortable and never acted like it was a bother.
We received our travel book a week before we left on our trip. Some scheduling changes had been made and they wanted to make us aware of the changes. Stephen even did another video chat with us because there was on very confusing day and he wanted to make sure we were all on the same page about the changes for that day.
Our first day in Ireland, we received an email from Stephen welcoming us to Ireland. A friendly face in a new town. He made sure we had numbers to call in case of problems, and let us know we could still contact him or Elisa if needed.
And we did need them a couple of times. Problems were handled and we had a wonderful time.
Thank you Kimkim for a wonderful time and to Stephen and Elisa,
You will be remembered in our hearts and prayer from this day forward.
Blessings,
Pat and Patti McHugh

Dear Pat and Patti,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed comment, both here and along the kimkim chat feed. Reading your words has truly made my day :)

The most special part of this journey through Ireland for me wasn’t just putting together the logistics, but the connection we built with you both. It’s been a joy to accompany you from the very first Teams Video call through to the last details of your trip, and I hope our paths cross again in the future. Perhaps a trip to another of our destinations (UK, France...) or at least a message at Thanksgiving.

Elisa and I are so grateful for your blessings. I think I can speak for her, when I say that we wish you both all the very best, and may your travels continue to be filled with discovery, joy, adventure and a whole lot of laughs.

With warmest regards,
Stephen Molloy
