Jane Davey

I grew up in the UK and developed a real passion for the great outdoors, which inspired me to work in travel. As a child, I spent my holidays in the UK with my parents and my brother. My dad used to race pigeons and they would often become lost. Quite often we would travel around the UK, retrieving my dad’s pigeons that had been found by members of the public. This inspired me to explore more remote areas of the UK.
My heart is divided between the Peak District (Derbyshire), Scotland, and Wales (as I have been to the summit of all the Welsh 3000 ft mountains). I live in the French Alps in the Winter as I love skiing. The rest of the year I flit between my home in France and my home in the UK. I have discovered a love for the Vanoise National Park, and spent the Summer of 2022, exploring the area on an electric mountain bike. I am a keen skier and as I live close to the Paradiski region, I can be found on the slopes almost every weekend during the ski season, and in the Peak District and Vanoise National Park in the Summer.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"With an in-depth knowledge of the UK, I specialize in not only single destination but multi-destination, including England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
My favourite TV program is ‘All Creatures Great & Small’, filmed in and around Yorkshire.
As I have been traveling to France for many years, I have a passion for researching the 2nd World War, ski locations, and summer activities. My love of the French mountains and culture was the main reason that I moved there in 2021, but still visit the UK often.

How did you get involved in travel?

"My Grandad was a coach driver and he traveled all over the World. On returning from his ‘trips’, he would always buy me a doll, in native costume, from the countries he had visited. I was in awe of his knowledge of how to find locations without a map. His passion and experiences inspired me to become a travel agent, as I love to find new places to explore."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I once traveled on a guided group tour on a Greek Caique Cruise boat, where we went island hopping. It was a rustic experience, and I met many people that had traveled. We slept above deck and looked at the stars whilst chatting about our travel experiences, swam in the sea and I saw a Manta Ray and giant starfish. We visited several destinations that were off the beaten track, met local people, and supported their economy directly, and I just took it all in."

Overall the trip was amazing. I wish I had some better guidance on making flights arrangements. My connections in Heathrow were very tight. The executive car travel in Edinburgh was excellent. The Hotel du Vin was lovely. Food was very good. The rooms face the courtyard so it can be noisy. Timberbush is the best tour group. Mercat and Raabies were ok too but Timberbush guides were very polite and engaging. The hotel in Inverness was ok. Food and staff not so good. Location... Read more

Train ride to and from Inverness were great but KimKim needs to remember that not all tourists know the rail system and it can be tricky. Glen Afric, Cava Cairns, Culloden, Eilaen Donan Castle, St. Andrews are a must. The most incredible journey was the Isle of Skye. We had a beautiful day and the guides were amazing. Our return to Edinburgh on train was lovely but we were asked to get our own taxi. That was difficult since no taxis are allowed at Waverly and must be prebooked. We had to haul our luggage a couple blocks to where the taxis were. The Tiger Lily was an incredible hotel. Did not eat there. This part of the city looked amazing. We called KimKim on check-in to Tiger Lily that we missed our Whiskey tour since we could not get a taxi. We were told someone would reach out on Monday. We have not heard anything. Overall, I would recommend KimKim but the travel advisors need to remember that we are not all European travelers and need additional assistance.

It's such a shame that you missed the whisky tour we arranged for you, which was scheduled just an hour after your arrival at Edinburgh Waverley. We completely understand how navigating such a large station can feel overwhelming. I was hopeful our conversation before your trip had covered the steps for getting a taxi, and I thought the introduction of Edinburgh Waverley's dedicated taxi zone in 2023, the largest in the city, would make things easier. We had discussed that there were staff inside the station to help book taxis for you, meeting you at the main entrance, which we felt was a better option than locating a pre-booked transfer. Perhaps this wasn’t as clear as it should have been during our call.

We’re sorry to hear you had to walk, and we truly wish we could have provided immediate assistance through the on-call number we gave you. Unfortunately, by the time you contacted us after checking into your hotel, the tour had already started, and we weren’t able to rearrange it or secure a refund. This feedback is very valuable to us, and we'll ensure we add extra details to our roadbook to clarify these steps even more.

Thank you also for your comments on the hotels and tour operators. This information is incredibly helpful as we continue to improve our service.

Awesome trip, well planned and perfectly executed, from the start, the day we arrived on the 15th in London to the last day the 24th in Edinburgh. The Wellington Hotel by Blue Orchid in London and Leonardo Royal Hotel in Edinburgh was perfect, centrally located, and walking distance from all the meeting points / attractions. Awesome trip, well planned and perfectly executed, from the start, the day we arrived on the 15th in London to the last day the 24th in Edinburgh. The Wellington Hotel by Blue Orchid in London and Leonardo Royal Hotel in Edinburgh was perfect, centrally located, and walking distance from all the meeting points / attractions. The schedule was very well planned with plenty of downtime to enjoy family time and relaxed dinners.
Our trip included view the changing of the guards, the war museum, was memorable. The private Jane Austen tour was fantastic, our guide Kevin was very knowledgeable provided unique insight. Our trip to the stone hedge, Dover castle, Canterbury, Cliffs and Kent was a lot of fun and got to see some of the less tourist traveled locations.

In Edinburgh, the visit to the Castle and watching the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo was the a great start on the first day. Planning a trip to Edinburgh again just to watch the Military Tattoo again soon. Our Whiskey tour with Graham (driver / guide) was amazing made the trip informative and very enjoyable. Trip to Lock Lomond and Stirling castle with Pete (driver / guide) was fantastic and got some great family pictures.
Overall, my family and I enjoyed the trip and created awesome family memories. Thank you Jane and Sarah for putting together a great travel itinerary and executing it flawlessly.

Whenever we experienced an issue or a question with our trip plan, we contacted the team and they responded immediately to resolve our issues. This was one of our priorities based on several friends’ experiences with other tour companies.

Lessons learned: (1) Make sure that you understand what amenities are offered at hotels. A couple of our accommodations did not provide lifts and it was difficult to get our luggage to and from our rooms. (2) Because the weather was unseasonably warm in London, it would have been nice to be aware whether the hotel had air conditioning.

We would definitely use KimKim again and recommend them to our friends and family.

Our guide was fabulous and since we were the only ones on the tour, she tailored her tour just for us. Definitely would recommend this for anyone visiting York for the first time.

It was great having private transport! It was always on time and the vehicles were spotlessly maintained. In particular, our idrivers in St. Andrews were knowledgeable and enjoyed sharing their home with us.

This was not what we expected but still enjoyable. Feel that there was too much time spent at the Tower of London (90 minutes) and not enough time at other sights on the tour.

We had KimKim ( and Julia and Sara) make ALL the arragnemtns for our Ireland trip. though I typically enjoy and do my own planning, I got busy with other things and had KimKim do it all. Amazing job.

Great tours arranged, and all the personal touches worked out perfectly. The ONLY issue we had was we could not do more. Our days were packed! We wish we had added more days to the southern and western coasts. but just could not.

Our 16 person tour van from Bath that included Stonehenge, Avebury and Cotswold village was okay. The van was full and I felt quite cramped in comparison to a similar tour we had taken in Iceland. Driver gave no instruction about moving one’s seat around to give everyone an opportunity to sit up close or not. We were on time and the van was already fully seated so we were trapped in the rear seat for the entirety of the day. Shouldn’t have been my responsibility to complain rather than provide some up front guidance. L

Eddie on the hidden gem food tour was very kind, intelligent and interesting. By far one of my favorite tours. Tim in Brussels showed us more than meets the eye and gave us some great info on the history of Belgium and its capital city all while having a great smile and witty banter 👍 Loved his tour as well. This was our first trip to Europe and we were traveling with our children, ages 11 & 9. Jane and her team could not have been more amazing. Before our trip we met and communicated about our interested and they designed an itinerary that matched our specific family needs. Even the details of where we stayed included our children's interest in Harry Potter. The team designed a trip that was well rounded to meet every individual wants and needs.

When the time came to travel we had very specific directions and timetables of what to do and when. Our tickets were all in an easy to access location as well. When we ran into a snag (completely caused by us), the team was there on a Sunday to help us solve the problem. Jane also checked in with us throughout our week there.

I think our favorite tour was the all day bus tour to Windsor, Bath and Stonehenge. Our guide Toby was fantastic and managed a large group very well.

Another favorite was the Harry Potter Tour in Edinburgh with Kieran. He was knowledgeable, fun and engaging for both kids and adults.

I would absolutely use Kim Kim and Jane again when we return to Europe in the future.
