Daniel Larrea

During my whole life, I have been traveling and adventuring everywhere. This is because my family was always in aviation. One of the first memories in my life are on a plane and traveling, but what I've learned from this lifestyle is that I love connecting with people from all around the world. I was born in Ecuador, raised in the United States, and back in Ecuador. I truly have a passion for showing everyone this small yet huge country and help them create unforgettable memories of it!

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"My specialty would be my own country, Ecuador!
I love adventure trips balanced with some well-earned leisure and relaxation. The cool part about Ecuador is that it is a country that has so much to see in such a small area, from towering mountains and volcanoes, beautiful beaches, to lush rain and cloud forests. Of course, we cannot forget the Galapagos Islands. My specialty is to connect with people and showing them the beauty of this country, the rich culture, delicious food, wildlife, and amazing landscapes to explore."

How did you get involved in travel?

"I've been traveling my whole life, inside Ecuador and around the world. I also had many multicultural experiences with a thirst to learn more about other cultures while showing my own. As a former Scout, I love exploring. I always liked meeting up with friends visiting from other countries and showing them around. I also used to work in the aviation industry however I discovered that my passion is showing the world to the world and creating unforgettable memories for people that come here. That's when I decided that the traveling industry was for me!"

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"To me, it's impossible to choose just one experience because all of them have their magic and are unique in their own ways. From family adventures to crazy escapades with friends has been a key part of my life, with unforgettable sensations and memories. There's one I enjoyed very much, where some friends from an Online Videogame came to Ecuador and we had a blast traveling together as I tried to show them the many things this country has to offer.
I also got to see my favorite band at a concert in Peru, a month before it disbanded. It was amazing how you can collectively connect with people with music, no matter the nationality.
Another amazing experience was backpacking in Europe with my wife on a trip filled with adventure and relaxation where we connected with truly amazing people."

Trip was great, especially during a global pandemic · Ecuador - Dec 18 - Dec 24, 2020

Traveler: Cristina M. - Local specialist: Daniel Larrea

This was the second trip I took using KimKim and both times it's been great. Daniel planned everything I ask for and he did a great job given pandemic limitations. He added in nothing extra I didn't request and was able to make everything else work for us. Daniel was able to keep the trip in our budget, was extremely communicative the whole time during our trip, and continued to give us tips and advice throughout our time.

He added in nothing extra I didn't request and was able to make everything else work for us. Daniel was able to keep the trip in our budget, was extremely communicative the whole time during our trip, and continued to give us tips and advice throughout our time.

The only negative part of the trip was a transportation mishap getting from one place to another. We ended up in a small car having to drive overnight hours in the opposite direction only to return the same way we came and go hours more. Even though this was frustrating for us, Daniel tried everything he could to find a different form of transportation but the pandemic restrictions and lack of tourism at the time were really to blame. Daniel went above and beyond to help during that time.

Our guides were all great. My sister and I basically had a private trip from place to place and had a local guide who knew the area in each national park we went to. This was a trip packed with outdoor adventure just like we requested. Thank you very much!

Anyway, I am glad that Charmander lit the way for you. I wish you and your sister safe and awesome journeys in the future :)

I was fortunate to be paired with Daniel at Responsible Travel Ecuador through KimKim. This was my third time booking a trip on KimKim and once again it does not disappoint! The 15 day tour I did started out in Galapagos Island which was efficient since you need PCR Test to go to the Island and I did everything from boat tours, snorkeling, walking tour, lava tunnel and a day of relaxation! The tour continued to Quito where I was given two insightful tours from Andrea who also is from Responsible Travel which included walks around Old City as well as the churches in the area as well as seeing the middle of the Equator and Volcano that overlooks the city of Quito. Unfortunately Cotopaxi was closed for maintenance but driver Marco Herrara took me to Quilotoa which was a fantastic sight to see and he did an amazing job explaining Ecuador on the way there as well as Quilotoa and the story behind the volcanoes. I ended the tour in Cuyabeno which was a unique 3 day tour in Amazon area and the tour guides were amazing with the walking tours as well as boat tours. Javier was a great driver for the pick ups to and from the airport and I was lucky enough to stay in wonderful hotels such as Deja Vu in Santa Cruz, Hotel Vieja Cuba in Quito and Nicky's Amazon Lodge in Cuyabeno. I recommend you to have your trip in Ecuador planned with Responsible Travel!
