This trip was amazing! I was so impressed with the country, the food, and the people. Karla was absolutely phenomenal.
She was patient, kind, and always available. She answered all of my questions, even the silly ones! She was kind enough to even accompany me to see the Cathedral and spend time after work one night. It is really nice getting to know the person whom you have trust in while in a foreign country. Fransisco was also wonderful. He was knowledgeable, sensible, helpful and very caring when the altitude was too much. He was prompt and very great to get to know. He was a confident driver in traffic around Quito as well. It was difficult on the horseback ride as no one spoke English. The ride was beautiful, but would have been better to understand where we were. My bike ride was also very nice. both Paulo and Freddy were very adept at navigating traffic around the city and communicating. Couldn't have been better. As for the Galapagos, this part of the trip was wonderful--the swimming, boats, snorkelling. The transport team was a little difficult. most did not seem to speak english very well. Especially transport to/from the boats and airport. The snorkelling both Tintoreras and Los Tuneles was very very good. the guides were personable and friendly. They paid attention to detail and safety as well. I would have liked a more active kayak experience, but relaxing while the guide paddled was nice, none the less. I will/have already recommended Kim Kim for future travel to all of my friends as well.

it was very very hot on Tortuga bay! even with sunscreen, it was scorching. swimming and snorkelling was very relaxing. There was very little interaction between the guide and myself. He was rather standoff-ish. the walk was nice and the fish were great! I would have liked to paddle the kayak but the guide insisted that he was going to paddle while I just sat and relaxed. Turtles and sharks were very cool to observe in their natural habitat. Guide recommended to take the speed boat back to save time and allow the afternoon to relax. Felt like he was in a hurry to return.

the animals were very very interesting to observe in their habitat. the guide was very knowledgeable but not really interested in interacting as people. She did eventually open up a little bit. The drivers did not speak English and the whole pick up from the airport was rather confusing and a little stressful. One of the airport personnel had retrieved my bag (unbeknownst to me) and put it aside. After all the luggage was retrieved I happened to see my bag in the corner and had to ask about it. The man did not speak English. I had to take the bag and look for my guides in a sea of people. The tree planting was quick and the "gardener" did not speak any English. basically he had dug the small hole, handed me the plant (I am not sure what is was??) and motioned me to put it in the hole. We ate at the newly refurbished dining hall overlooking the Tortoise area. The meal was excellent and the staff was courteous.

The hotel accomodation and food was varied and excellent, particularly the colonial style hotels in the larger towns. We were particularly interested in seeing traditional weaving, and our guide/driver David Galarza went "above and beyond" to track down weaving communities for us. We were able to try our hand at weaving and dyeing in a couple of places (Otavalo and Gualaceo) and we would absolutely recommend this to anyone interested in traditional crafts. The national park at Cotopaxi is also a wonder. We finished our trip with a few days in the Galapagos islands, which live up to expectations with wildlife and much else to see. Thank you David and Paul!

We visited the shawl weaving workshop at Gualaceo (about 40 mins drive from Cuenca), where they make traditional shawls (macanas), with ikat designs and macrame fringes. You can see the whole process, and the visit is fascinating. Recommended. We also visited a weaver (Mama Rosa) in Saraguro district. She is about 3 hours drive from Cuenca, and absolutely charming and welcoming. If you are interested in weaving you should also definitely visit her for demonstrations of natural dyeing and weaving on a backstrap loom. We are truly happy to hear that you felt well supported and that both Christian and I were available when needed. Christian will be delighted to know that you appreciated his personality, historical knowledge, wildlife identification skills, and his ability to adapt the itinerary to your pace.

We also sincerely appreciate your observations. Regarding the lack of restroom facilities at the Cotopaxi lagoon, unfortunately, this is a limitation of the national park due to conservation regulations. We completely understand how inconvenient this can be and value you bringing it to our attention.

Concerning the Spanish-only commentary during part of the trip, thank you for your honesty. We take this feedback very seriously and will work to ensure better availability of English-speaking guides or additional support on future departures, as our goal is always to provide a clear, comfortable, and enriching experience.

Thank you once again for trusting us with your journey through Ecuador. It was a pleasure to be part of your adventure, and we hope to welcome you again in the future.
