Dimitrios Moutafidis

Born and raised in downtown Athens, a typical modern, old-fashioned Greek. An avid traveler, I started flying in Greece and abroad at the age of 6 and never stopped since. For me it is all about the people, they make a destination what is it and that is why I am always trying to bring you into contact with them. They create the local habits and traditions, and, in the end, they give any place its particular character. I never say no to good company and a glass of great wine!

How did you get involved in travel?

"My parents worked for a Greek civil aviation company, so traveling was simply a part of my life since I remember. I understood from a very early age that moving around, meeting people, and getting out of your comfort zone is the true meaning of traveling and, of course, life. Especially while spending my entire adult life in Italy for my studies, I came to understand and appreciate what it means to live in a different culture than your own and to get to know a new way of life and, through that, evolve."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I will never forget the first time I visited the Czech Republic. On our last day there, an evening that started disastrously, with our group's car breaking down and not being able to begin our Christmas road trip around Northern Europe, ended up being one of the most memorable nights of my life. Walking around with my friends in spectacular, snowy Prague after midnight and meeting two more groups, before ending altogether in an incredible traditional local restaurant for a late bite and then to a pub in the middle of a Christmas market, where we spent all night drinking and laughing. That night also led one of my friends to find the love of his life and today they have a family!"

Our trip to Greece was a fantastic adventure. Our private guides were very knowledgeable and pleasant, we particularly enjoyed Silvia as she was so enthusiastic and fun. Our drivers were nice and we enjoyed their commentaries on their local areas. We asked for higher end hotels and we got them !! We stayed at some very nice hotels, the rooms, staff and food were all fabulous. We went to several towns Athens, Nafplio, Nafpaktos, Chania, Heraklion and Santorini. I loved the hanging... Our drivers were nice and we enjoyed their commentaries on their local areas. We asked for higher end hotels and we got them !! We stayed at some very nice hotels, the rooms, staff and food were all fabulous. We went to several towns Athens, Nafplio, Nafpaktos, Chania, Heraklion and Santorini. I loved the hanging monasteries in Meteora. I think that my favorite place was Chania in Crete. A beautiful town and waterfront with great restaurants and shopping and not nearly as many people (tourist) as Santorini. Dimitrios was great, always making sure that we were aware of our schedule and answered any questions we had promptly.

This hotel was amazing. Brand new and right on the Aegean sea. While it's not close to downtown Chania, it's a short taxi ride away. The staff was first rate and the rooms...very nice and large. I loved this hotel !!!

This hotel was a bit older but clean and had a wonderful restaurant. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. While the hotel was at the end of the town, it's location was such that one could walk to shop and eat at the other restaurants in town.

A newer hotel that is very nice. It has a great restaurant and bar and is in a location that one can walk to several different places of interest within 10 - 15 minutes.

Spectacular The only negative would be finish on the steps and shower floor in the downstairs shower area is very slippery when wet. My wife actually slipped and fell and thankfully was not injured. It is a vey unique feature but they should think putting non slip coating or tile in the steps and shower floor.

We loved our drivers, tour guides and most everyone in between. I may not remember all the names and will miss spell a few but ….
Heracles, Georgia, Antonia, Sylvia, Chris, Sebastiani, and the cooking experience (I can’t recall his name), Alex, Agatha, the drivers and baggage handlers on Santorini were unbelievable, the catamaran sailing crew….and especially the driver who backed down the completely jammed up road to the catamaran were all just great. When it got close to our trip date, he introduced us to his team (Antonis & Effie) that would help us with the day to day of our trip. Not only did they communicate with us each day with the details of our following day plans, they were quick to respond to our questions no matter the time day or night. Dimitrios and his team including Effie and others were wonderful. They helped us plan a perfectly balanced vacation. With a 2 year old and a 14 year old in tow this was far from an easy experience . Of course their support and help did not end there, they were in valuable while we were in country. They helped ensure every experience was perfect. On top of that they provided excellent recommendations for dinner and helped us make many dinner reservations while we were in the country and... Read more
