Francisco Torres

Since I was little, I have been fascinated by getting to know the great wide world. The exchange with other cultures has always been my focus. Therefore, I have made my interest my profession. In Italy, I studied tourism for a couple of years. During my travels, I found a country where I feel most comfortable: Chile! The Chileans advertising slogan: "Chile Naturaleza Abierta" translated to English would be "Chile Open Nature" has proven true for me. In Valparaiso, I have found my second home and from here I am happy to share the magic of the country with tourists from all over the world.
I look forward to taking care of you and making sure your trip to Chile fulfills all your expectations and is filled with the most memorable experiences.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

""I specialize in creating truly personalized trips that are designed for each traveler or group. The main destinations I cover are Santiago, wine valleys, Valparaiso, Punta Arena, Puerto Varas, Lake District, Chiloé Island, Austral Road, Puerto Natales, Torres del Paine, Easter Island, and Atacama combined with Uyuni Salt Flat. However, I cover all of the country and can plan a trip to any destination you want or that I believe you will like.
I enjoy planning trips for couples, families, independent travelers, those wanting to relax, those seeking to learn and immerse in our local culture, wine lovers, nature explorers, beach fans, and foodies— for everyone that wants to visit Chile! I specialize in boutique and 5-star hotels, but I love being creative, and every trip I plan is tailored to your wants and interests!""

How did you get involved in travel?

""Around 2008 I began traveling to Peru each summer, organizing trips for my family, my faculty of tourism in the university in Ecuador. This initiative brought me back each summer and from there I discovered the world of backpacking. After numerous trips and years spent in South America, it became clear that I wanted to root myself here, and what better place than Chile? With over 7 years of experience in the hospitality industry and a grand passion for travel and the outdoors, I decided that a career in the adventure travel industry was the way to go, and here I am!""

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I will never forget when I visit an old friend who is dedicated to offering ancestral tours in Bolivia! The locals were really friendly, we ate the famous alpaca meat, the guinea pig, and their local drink. The beaches were spectacular and the paths majestic. I am in love with this country. I feel like I've been transported back 50 years which I find fascinating as I am a lover of nature and connect with local people."

Not really a tour. We slowly drove around Puerto Varas and driver pointed out a few sites. He seemed surprised that some things, such as the church, were closed for a holiday. He did take us to a market. We walked along the wharf in Puerto Montt. But instead of telling us where to eat in Puerto Montt, he told us to eat at the airport, which was disappointing and not right. None of this seemed like a tour of the two towns, but more like a leisurely drive to the airport.

Hi Mona,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review of your trip to Chile. It truly means a lot to me and to our team at Responsible Travel SA. I’m very happy to hear that you loved your experience with our guide and driver in Santiago, and that the WhatsApp group helped you feel supported during your entire journey. We always want our travelers to feel accompanied and cared for, especially when exploring a new country.

I’m also glad that you enjoyed the Atacama Desert and that the Lake District became your favorite — Puerto Varas is indeed a wonderful and peaceful town to walk around, and I’m happy you experienced it that way.

Regarding the Puerto Montt & Puerto Varas City Tour, thank you for your honest feedback. I’m very sorry that this experience didn’t meet your expectations. I will be speaking with our local partner and the driver to make sure this situation doesn’t happen again. Your comments help us improve and ensure future travelers receive a better experience.

Despite that part, I’m truly happy that overall you enjoyed your 10-day journey, and it was a pleasure being there for you throughout your time in Chile. I hope we can welcome you back to South America again — whether to explore more of Chile or discover a new destination.

Thank you once again for choosing to travel with us.

Warm regards,
Francisco

In Atacama, we really enjoyed seeing volcanoes, geysers, beautiful mountains. We had a private Astrology tour of the heavens, absolutely amazing. Our guide, Katrina, was so knowledgeable and excited to share her knowledge and interest in the stars. Now I can find Scorpio and the Southern Cross! Just be sure to bring really warm clothes. The desert gets very cold at night. Our driver and guide, Cote, actually gave me the coat off his back when he saw how cold I was, and had me keep it for a day before he picked it up at our hotel. So kind!
Francisco and Pam were great at helping us pick from all the great tours, since we had limited time. They reminded us of when we would be picked up, made suggestions for restaurants, picked great neighborhoods for hotels, and lined up all of our transportation needs. Definitely a start to finish complete package. I just wish we had planned a longer trip, Next time!

This is a very cool hotel in a very fun neighborhood, with lots of restaurants and bars in walking distance. The hotel is beautiful, an old castle, very tasteful decorations, and they have a free happy hour with Chilean wine every day, and we met several super nice travelers. The only downside is there is no elevator, since it's a historic building, and there are 4 floors, although the front desk person was insistent at carrying our bags up for us. I would definitely stay again if I am in Santiago.

Overall, this was a unique and interesting trip. Starting with a food tour in Santiago which ended with a picnic overlooking the city. Wine tasting in Maipo Valley was nice. Pickups and transfers went smoothly except for one mistake with the wine tasting time. On to Atacama with a nice tour. Hit or miss on the star gazing however the cancellation worked in our favor since none of the tour organizers considered getting the Bolivian visa in advance. It was stressful when they attempted to reach us at 10pm the night before we were supposed to depart for Bolivia and Uyuni. Well past midnight we were collecting documents, taking pictures, and filling out forms. Ultimately, it all worked out at the border however the stress was not necessary and could have been avoided with some attention to details. Trip to Bolivia and the salt flats we great with a great guide and beautiful scenery. For someone looking to make it to the driest desert and see the unique salt flats we would recommend the trip. Kim Kim just needs to iron out details ahead of time and work on communication with the several layers of travel agencies involved in multiple countries and cities.

We stayed here twice. Depending on what you want to do, this location could be good. Apparently it is completely unsafe in the evenings, though. The desk clerk and 2 strangers all told us to hold on to our phones and be careful . . . . Yikes! The rooms have A/C, but our first room was HOT and the AC was supposedly on. The other two rooms were a bit better, but not really cooled. So, if you like a room to be cool when you sleep, I would go elsewhere. The dinner and the breakfasts were both good.

This hotel is older - the rooms are small and a bit run-down. There is no elevator, so if you're traveling with suitcases, request a room on the ground floor. The breakfast area is upstairs, so that could be a problem if you have mobility issues. The toilet in our room was lopsided . . . which tells you the attention to detail to expect in the hotel. The location is fine - and easy 5 minute walk to the beginning of the main street through the small town.

The hotel is new and well-maintained, but it is a 10-minute, rough ride through rough roads via Uber to get to the town where the restaurants are. After a long day of excursions, we weren't particularly excited about having to catch an uber into town. The cost of the uber is reasonable, about $5 USD each way, but it's a bit of a hassle. The breakfast was nice - and is available in the fridge (cereal, breads, coffee, and fruit) so you can eat it when you want to . . . which means you don't have to get a packed breakfast for an early excursion. That was a nice benefit.

On check-in, the receptionist tried to get me to pay for a room that had been pre-paid. When we decided not to stay and tried to find him to return the key, he wasn't even at the desk.

Holiday Inn Santiago - Airport Terminal
Santiago

We stayed here multiple times as we flew to the airport one day and back out again the next day. The dinner restaurant is fine, but the breakfast wasn't worth waking up for. We went the first day and then after that didn't bother with breakfast because the fruit looked sad, the eggs were runny, and nothing really looked appealing. The rooms are nice, large, and well air-conditioned. It is a very easy walk from arrivals to the hotel.

Authenticity & Character
This is a regular Holiday Inn . . . nothing special in terms of "authenticity and character"

The hotel is nice, and the rooms are a good size. The restaurant for dinner was very good. The lunch menu is very small - basically burgers. The rooms have no A/C, just a fan . . . so it can get quite warm in the summer. The pool did not have fresh water; it looked stagnant and not inviting at all.

We had a very good time, nonetheless. Thank you.

Hi Claudia,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your trip. I truly appreciate your feedback.

I do remember mentioning that the journey from Punta Arenas to El Calafate was quite long and that I recommended taking a public bus because a private transfer, as you originally wanted, would have been extremely expensive.

That being said, I understand that more details and clearer communication would have been helpful in your planning, and I will definitely take your comments into account to improve for the future.

I’m really glad to hear that, despite the challenges, you still had a very good time! Thank you again for your feedback, and I hope to assist you in another adventure in the future.

Our trip to Chili from December 26 - January 8 was an abysmal fail because of the lack of organization and professionalism exhibited by KimKim.

Our trip to Chili from December 26 - January 8th with our family of five, was a huge disappointment because of the poor organization from KimKim.

The start of our trip was "Rocky" as we didn't receive our bags after spending several days trying to fly to Santiago, of which was no ones fault, but the person of whom picked us up at the hotel our first morning in Santiago to take us back to the airport to fly to Puerto Natales, had no information about our losing our bags and we couldn't communicate to our driver that we had to go to a certain part of the airport to retrieve them. We finally got ahold of Angel, our food tour person in Santiago and he translated the information to our driver. It was very stressful and should have been taken care of by KimKim.

We have used KimKim for another trip that was spectacular in Norway, while spending two weeks with the most spectacular guidance from our guide (Mathias) with KimKim. This current trip to Chili and Patagonia was abysmal in comparison. We had one miscommunication after the next and it was very apparent that KimKim was utilizing 1, 2 and 3 party groups to facilitate our trip. There were several times when we did not know who our contact was and we were contacting three different people at a time trying the get the situations worked out. After being picked up by our tour guide (Felipe) in Puerto Natales at the beginning of out trip, we had to tell him what was on our agenda. He had some kind of an idea with our touring the national park, but did not know anything about lunch and that it was to be provided. We had to wait 30 minutes at 2:30 in the afternoon, standing in the foyer of the restaurant to see what we were allowed to order and then waiting another 10 minutes to see if we had drinks provided.

On our second day in Puerto Natales, Felipe again didn't know that tix were already purchased for the boat ride to the French Valley for our trek to the Torres Del Paine, so I husband spent a good amount of time frantically trying to book tix finding out that the day was sold out!!! We decided that we would just drive straight to the boat to try to ask to please allow us on as this was our only day to trek, but then on our way heard from Pamela, via text that tix were already purchased for us. Very stressful.
We were unhappy with the accommodations in Puerto Natales as the Glacier Hotel was more like a banged up youth hostel. The bedding was visibly dirty in one of our rooms and there was actually a hole in one of the bathroom doors where it had been either kicked in or in someway damaged. We were moved to another room which was nicer, but still found the hotel unacceptable. The breakfast offered was sub par as well, with the only hot item being scramble eggs and everything else store bought, packaged pastries and the like. We did inform or original contact, Francisco that we were unhappy, but he informed us that because it was high season, this place was our only option. This is totally untrue as we called around and found several properties that were not booked.

We were so disappointed with the Glacier Hotel that we contacted Francisco and had our hotel in Puerto Varas changed after seeing it was of the same calibar hotel as the Glacier and was outside the city limits, where we would not be able to walk the town. We were charged an extra $500 and service fees to change to the new Hotel for three nights. Again Francisco said that he had to book the original hotel in Puerto Varas because of late booking, but this too wasn't true as we had no trouble booking at the Hotel Puelche of which we very much enjoyed, we could walk to town and loved the accommodations. When my husband looked back at communication with Francisco, my husband inquired why we were booked in this hotel, and we were told once again that it was an availability issue and we wouldn't want any other place, that this was "THE" place to stay.

Lastly, we were booked at the Hilton Hotel by the airport in Santiago for out last two nights of which is 15 to 30 min away from any sites and my husband contacted Francisco before we arrived in Chili about changing this hotel and never received a response from him.

We are a traveling family of five and have been to over 80 countries and now have the means to hire a company to assist us with planning trips and moving forward, will not employ KimKim for the job.

Considering the amount we paid for the trip to Chili, the return was abysmal.

We have many friends of whom travel and too, will not recommend your company to them as a source for travel.
