The Puerto Varras tour gave no details on the challenge, 23km length, amount of water needed, clothing, huge flies, etc. we had to turn around after just 3 km.
Several tours had guides who struggled with English or did not bother to speak it at all.
In short, KimKim needs to refund us the money for the full day Puerto Varas tour. In general, KimKim should assign a travel specialist who is educated about the destinations and give full details about the tours.
While South America is beautiful and we appreciate the people and the landscape, we expect KimKim to do the write thing about its customers and offer best communication.

While we are very happy to know that you had an unforgettable time enjoying Chile, its history, diverse culture and amazing scenery, I am surprised that you were not happy with my services. We worked together on this trip, to make it fit your requirements, wishes and budget in the best possible way. You asked me to include full day hikes, which I did, as well as approved all hotels (and rooms) and some of the activities as shared tours. Please note that I work a lot with golden agers, and many of them are vivid hikers completing the Desolation Pass Hike and other hikes in Chile without any problem, therefore after sending you the respective descriptions (3 hours ascent – 8 hours hike in total) I followed your request and included these hikes in your program. I am very sorry to hear that you could not complete the hike, as it is an amazing experience, but understand that you had to terminate the tour early. I always strive to organize all trips in a way to provide the best possible experience for all travelers, and I am sad to learn that I did not completely achieve this goal for your group. Nevertheless, I hope that you could enjoy most of your experiences and that you took a lot of unforgettable memories from wonderful Chile back home.

We recently returned from a three-week trip in Patagonia, mostly in Chile. Planning the trip and working with this touring agency was challenging; we spent many hours researching the itinerary, the tours and hotels recommended, even double-checking their final vouchers. This was all due to having picked up discrepancies on the initial draft of the itinerary and along the way. At times we wondered why we're paying them the fee?!
Our tour operator was not proficient in English, nor familiar with the places we planned to visit, which made it difficult to communicate in real time, frustrating once we arrived at our destination(s), or complete the tours they recommended. Most of the tours (5 out of 8) were not detailed and they missed the mark on punctuality, safety, quality and not being matched to what we had requested. One tour in particular, ~23 Km hike to- and around a volcano was inappropriately designed for our group, critical information was not provided until our pickup, and we had to terminate it early.
All airport and hotel transfers were adequate and on time.
Visiting Chilean Patagonia was an experience we will not forget; interesting history, diverse culture while the scenery is amazing, spectacular and mesmerizing. Being there made us forget about the logistics so poorly managed by this agency,

stars awarded ONLY for the scenery. this tour was improperly planned for our group. the one-day tour includes 3-4 hrs on Victoria Island which is mostly waiting on the dock for the boat to take you back. there is another shorter tour, which we found out about after we arrived and which would have been better for us. we were unable to change it since it was planned by kimkim with a 3rd party. throughout the tour we were rushed due to many tours arriving at the same time, to the point of being uncomfortable. while the Arrayanes forest is interesting, we were not allowed any time there to fully enjoy it. likewise for Victoria Island; the signage is poor, to the point that you cannot hike on your own. our guide chose not to speak English (Jessica) so for us this tour was a major waste of time and money.

Camila, our main organizer, deserves special recognition. Her attention to detail, responsiveness, and genuine care shaped the entire experience. Every transfer, tour, and connection felt effortless because she was always one step ahead. You could feel how much pride she takes in showcasing her country, and it made all the difference. She was also very patient and worked hard to get the itinerary just right.

We were also fortunate to have wonderful local guides throughout the trip. Each one brought their own personality, expertise, and passion for Chile’s landscapes, culture, and history. Whether we were exploring cities, tasting incredible food and wine, or taking in the natural scenery, our guides made every moment richer and more meaningful. Shout out to Ignacio and Jennifer who showed us around Santiago and out to the coast, Marco who spent the day with us at the geysers and desert and has a great passion for the country and photography, and every other tour was great! We appreciated and genuinely enjoyed our time with each guide. There's no part of the trip we wouldn't recommend!

It's a lot to pack in 11 days, but Camila made it possible!

I cannot express enough regret for booking my trip to Chile through Kimkim. If it could go wrong, it did. At the end of the second day, every part of my trip that they were responsible had gone south.
Starting with the airport transfer- our driver was a road raging lunatic. With six tourists in the back, he spent over thirty minutes chasing down another vehicle trying to pin it in. He was finally successful and then went to confront the other driver while completely forgetting he had customers in the back. Some of the other travelers were shocked while others were terrified. To me it was beyond unprofessional, and my partner and I ended up having to walk to our hotel
The hotel provided by Kimkim was pleasant except for terribly rude staff. Then our first tour was cancelled with little notice. We were not offered to have it rescheduled or provided a refund. Turning to the second tour, we were promised English speaking guides. When the tour operator picked us up, he told me that he didn’t speak any English and whoever we booked the tour though (Kimkim) dropped the ball because his company did offer English speaking guides. When I contacted Kimkim about this, they said there was an emergency with the English-speaking guide, so we got put on the other tour.
The part of my trip I was looking forward to the most was going to the port city of Valparaiso for New Year’s Eve. After paying in full, Kimkim told us that we could not do that tour on that day because it would be too crowded and we could do a food tour instead. After the second day and the tour going horribly, I reached out to our tour operator and told him to cancel everything and refund the remainder. We paid Kimkim $3,590 for a 7 day tour, cancelled after the second day, and they refunded $370.
After cancelling the remaining trip, I rebooked hotels and went through Viator. It was much smoother with zero headaches. We even made it to Valparaiso on New Years Ever and had an amazing time. I would avoid this company at all costs.

Dear James,
Thank you very much for your feedback. We appreciate your opinion and always strive to improve our services.
When you told us about your experience during the transfer, we contacted the local operator and some of the other passengers, and they told us that another car hit the side mirror of the van and that later the drivers exchanged their insurance information. I am sure that the sound of the other car hitting the mirror caused an uncomfortable moment, and I apologize for that. I understand that you decided to walk the final distance to the hotel, while the other passengers continued with the van, as it was still completely functional, but we also offered you a private transfer to finish the way.
While you were happy with the hotel itself, it seems you did not connect with the staff and felt that the staff did not treat you the way you expected. We are very surprised to hear that, as we always receive good to excellent reviews about the hotel, including especially the staff, but we take your feedback seriously and have asked the hotel to revise and, where necessary, improve the quality of their customer service.
When the first tour, a stargazing tour at night, was cancelled due to bad weather (you would not have seen much with the night sky covered by clouds) it was rescheduled for the next night. Nevertheless, as you cancelled everything in the morning, unfortunately you could not enjoy the tour then.
You are right about the second tour, the guide who had been confirmed for that tour had to cancel due to an accident, and the guide that replaced him at such short notice did not speak English. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused you, and while you made the trip, we understand that the tour with a Spanish-speaking guide was not what you booked, and we made a full refund of the tour price. Still, you decided not to go on with the rest of the program, which was completely organized, including your excursion to Valparaiso with one of our guides. Of course, we tried to recover as much as possible from the payments made to the different service providers (hotels, guides, transportation), but being a no-show/last-minute cancellation, I am afraid the amount recovered was less than you hoped for.
We are very sad that you decided not to go on with your trip, as we are convinced you would have enjoyed it very much, as so many travelers who leave their feedback here. Nevertheless, we are glad to know you did make it to Valparaiso and had an amazing start to the new year there!

We used Kimkim to help plan a one-week adventure in Chile, and honestly, it was one of the best travel decisions we’ve ever made.

From the very beginning, the process felt easy and collaborative. We went back and forth with them on what we thought we wanted to do, and they did all the heavy lifting — researching, suggesting better options, and refining the plan until it was exactly what we were excited about. They weren’t just plugging in generic activities — they were actively improving our ideas.

Once the trip started, the experience got even better.

Riwal and Alex were incredible. They were always available on WhatsApp and responded quickly any time we had a question, needed help, or wanted suggestions — even for things like restaurant recommendations. At one point we accidentally left our phone at a hotel, and they jumped right in and coordinated everything to help get it back to us. That kind of support takes the stress out of travel in the best possible way.

It felt less like dealing with a travel agency and more like having extremely competent friends on the ground in Chile who actually had our backs.

If you want a trip that feels thoughtfully planned, flexible, and fully supported while you’re traveling — Kimkim is absolutely worth it. We would use them again without hesitation.

Highly recommended.

Without her guidance, knowledge and input, it would have been difficult to plan a two week trip.

Once the trip started, on the ground support team of Riwal and Dayana ensured that we had up to date information of the plan for the day, and if there was any question, they both were available for immediate resolution. We did not encounter any issue at all that needed them to step in, which is a good sign in itself.

Overall, we are very happy with how everything went well for this vacation leaving us with beautiful memories of a lifetime.

Hike to Mirador Base Torres del Paine - Full Day Tour
Chile

It was a tough 14 mile one day hike but seemed manageable thanks mainly due to the guides who ensured our safety, provided adequate support, made the long hike enjoyable by sharing information, lot of water breaks. At one particular pass, we were up in the mountain with a steep drop on one side and the wind gusts were really strong. The guides helped us navigate through that pass using ropes, which made it a lot safer for everyone to continue our hike. I appreciated this a lot.

Beautiful landscape, lot of scenic spots.

The island of Chiloe was a full day trip exploring some of the churches built on the island. However, the trip seemed long and not that interesting. Knowing what I know now, I would have skipped this tour and done something different.

Food
They offered wonderful breakfast and lunch, all of which they carried with them in coolers and made a picnic setting. Food was good, tasty and plenty for everyone. No corners were cut.

The guide Limon was phenomenal, very knowledgeable, helpful. Always smiling and giving us required information at all the stops. Allowing us plenty of opportunity to take pics and many times offering to take family pics for us. What a wonderful guide she is.

It was a full moon night and the provider knew we would not be able to do any star gazing given the brightness of moon light. So they should have actually canceled the tour and refunded the money. Instead they did take us on the tour to show one planet and share some information about couple constellations, however, this is not what we were hoping to see or what the Atacama night sky tour is famous for.

Hotel Reviews
Hotel Bellavista
Puerto Varas

Beautiful hotel, excellent staff who were curious about how our stay was going and made sure we had whatever we needed to enjoy it. Breakfast service was fantastic, and the staff were very polite and accommodating. Location was great to walk to restaurants, the shoreline, and the city center for shopping. The view was the best part! WOW!

Authenticity & Character
Location
Easy to get downtown and to the waterfront for restaurants and shops.

Iorana Hotel
Hanga Roa

We had the pleasure of staying during New Year's, and the staff was excellent. They were always asking us if we needed anything to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms were nice and clean. The location was away from the town, but we got to explore some hiking trails around the shoreline. We were a minor concern because of the flight path, but there were a few flights each day, most during midday when we were out and about on the island. The pool was a little green and seemed out of order, so we spent more time at the beach than at the pool.

Authenticity & Character
Location
Further away from town, about a half-mile walk to the main street. We were able to rent a car and enjoy the whole island, which made it even better. There are a few hotels closer to the city center, but they do not offer the views and sunsets available at Iorana.

Not a welcoming front desk presence. Did not have hot water for the first 3 days staying at the hotel. Was told it was a regional issue, not a hotel issue (for hot water?) Once we did get water, it was lukewarm at best. The hotel was doing renovations during our stay and did not mention it, which was the real issue, as work crews were installing new water heaters that lay throughout the hallways. The rooms were designed like a cheap motel with paper-thin walls. The single person working the breakfast service was the only positive, inviting person. The location was pretty good, but there are a few other options nearby that may be better.

Authenticity & Character
it was a small and quaint hotel but had trash and building supplies throughout the hotel as they were going through a remodeling and failed to let the team know that was an issue.
Location
The location was OK, located near the central plaza, restaurants, and shops. There were other hotels that were closer to the water that may have be more inviting.

Hot water is must, cannot believe in the weather environment, the hotel was ok with their guess not having hot water to clean themselves.

Hampered by the weather, but we had a small window where the clouds parted, and we could see the mountain tops. Nacho, our guide, was great, very knowledgeable and inquisitive about if we were enjoying or stay.

Quality of Experience
The environment was incredible and very beautiful. We were able to experience the mountains, glaciers, incredible waters, pumas and other wildlife, and most of all - the WIND!
Food
We had sack lunches from the hotel, which was poor soggy sandwiches and random bagged snacks.

Nacho was the best, it was great to hear his stories.

the terrain is a little rough, Nacho had a nice vehicle but was defiantly effect by the rough environment.

Hi John,
Thank you very much for your review,
So glad your family enjoyed all the trip and understands how challenging it is sometimes in some regions due to the special weather.
I also really appreciate that you take time to leave me this review, which is very important for me and my team, and we can improve ourselves.

All the best,
Happy New Year,
Riwal
