Paola secco

Born in a small village in the countryside of Turin (Northwest Italy) in 1982, I have always been curious about the world.
When I was 19, I decided it was time to see and experience all the things I had only read about. It was the early 2000s, and in Europe, the Inter Rail pass was very popular among young travelers. Essentially, with this ticket, you were allowed unlimited travel by train to selected countries in Europe.
I did it for years, discovering a huge part of Europe.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"Italy, of course! I enjoy sharing how our culture was built through art, history, and, obviously, food and wine! But if you want something more, and you're seeking an outdoor or active vacation, I am passionate about sports and can easily arrange bike tours, hiking in the Alps, climbing lessons, or any other activity you might be interested in."

How did you get involved in travel?

"So many years have passed since my first Inter Rail pass.
I grew up, and so did my eagerness to travel. That's why in 2013, I decided to dedicate my professional life to other travelers. In these 11 years, I've gained experience as a bike tour guide, tour leader, and hiking guide. I have been involved in travel planning and logistical support for tourism. Building a solid background in travel industry on different levels.
I spent years traveling for work and working while traveling, and that was truly amazing!
I am a great planner, and I love working with people on vacation. I enjoy participating in their best time of the year, understanding their interests—besides travel—and giving them tips and suggestions to enjoy a place in the best way.
My favorite game is playing "tourist in my hometown," and I continue to visit places I know very well, pretending I've never seen them before, like a traveler."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I had the incredible opportunity to spend a few months in Mauritania, right in the heart of the Sahara Desert.
I lived like a local, assisting a local tour operator with Italian travelers. However, most of the time was dedicated to exploring the country.
I slept in tents with nomads, sipped freshly milked goat milk with the shepherds, and embarked on days-long journeys through the dunes, eventually sleeping on the sand.
It was my first time being deeply immersed in a completely different environment, and it felt like a captivating vertigo that I immediately fell in love with."
