Venice Liberty Travel

Liberty Travel is a dmc based in Mestre, specialized in tailor-made tours for groups and FIT clients all around Italy since 1993. Starting from 2021, we are part of Bassani Group, a very old and reliable company based in Venice and acting in various touristic fields, as DMC, travel agency and tour operator, land excursions and shipping services supplier for the main cruise lines. The group also hold a land and maritime transport provider and a maritime and shipment agency since 1860.
Bassani Group also organizes events for important clients as Valentino, Allianz, Swatch and others.
Our company is well known on the US Market; we provide land services in Italy to the main cruise lines and US tour operators as Tauck, Uniworld, Adventures by Disney.
We support clients from various markets (France, Belgium, Canada, Turkey, US, Mexico) so we are very used to talk to clients from multiple countries and cultures.
I think our strong points are first off all creativity; we surely arrange classic programs for our clients, but our specialty is off the beaten paths journeys. We organize a lot of thematic and cultural tours for clients with specific interests. Even when we propose the classic places as Venice for instance, we try to include in our programs places normally out of the touristic circuits like visit to small private museums or palaces or special and exclusive private experiences.
We work all over Italy with many suppliers, we do a lot of scouting to find the most authentic experiences. We do not work with “touristic” suppliers, we rather prefer small ones, we work with family run wineries for instance, that are not even used to welcome tourists. Our clients love meeting this kind of people and adore the interaction we offer them with local people.
Also regarding accommodation, we surely sell luxury and famous properties, but also small boutique hotels far from the tourism areas and also new concept hotels as the “Alberghi Diffusi” (That’s a kind of accommodation you can find only in Italy, we can translate it with “Scattered hotels”).
Moreover, we are really focused on sustainability, we recently obtained a certification, and we propose sustainable journeys. We propose our clients to use train instead of cars or we propose them to overnight in small villages to help the local economy to grow. We have a very nice program around Umbria, a region that was affected by a terrible earthquake few years ago. Visiting those places (which are amazing and where life was almost back to normality by the way) our clients help the local communities to continue their business there.
Each request we receive is different to us, we really try to build for each client his unique journey to Italy, by adding some little things and surprises along the way. In fact, communication with our travelers is a must to know their interests, passions and provide an unforgettable journey.

Beautiful and clean. A/C was so good! The pool is gorgeous and they are very friendly. I loved their breakfast. The only negative is that the restaurant was a bit disappointing. For the cost, I expected better. The food was either bland or over-salted. The breakfast was great, but the disappointing aspect was lunch and dinner. We sought those meals elsewhere.

Wonderful space with a perfect location. My only issue was that we were on the very top floor, I think because we needed a larger room, and the windows in this space are tiny and high up. For such a stunning location, I really would have preferred to be able to see the view from this hotel as it was raised up over the street level. Unfortunately we could barely see glimpses of the faraway hillsides and it felt dark.

It got the job done and we needed the location. It was fine for a night. It was trying to be very minimalist, but unfortunately it tipped over the line of actually being lacking. Usually hotels have some information in the room about how to change the temp, how to reach the front desk by phone (there was no phone), and available food and services. This had nothing. Not a QR code, no paper info, nothing. The gentleman who checked us in was abrupt and was being overtly rude to his co-worker. The food at the restaurant was OK, but certainly overpriced for what it was and the cafeteria style of service.

We booked this ourselves through Viator. This was not a Kimkim service and they had nothing to do with this reservation. That being said, this was supposed to be breakfast tour and promised less crowded viewing and it was anything but that. Full crowds and chaos. I would not book this again.

Tour guide was lovely and the experience was good. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of access to the Colosseum. We paid for the gladiator entry, so got to go down on the floor, which was really cool, but thought we'd be able to explore the whole arena. Turns out that special ticket only gets you access to the floor, so was a bit disappointed about that. But overall, it was a wonderful tour.

The one caveat is the local company only uses guides/tour companies they have contracts with, so if you want to use a different company or do a tour they don't have a contract with, you'll have to research it and book it outside of the site. Also note that even though you have a time scheduled ticket for the Academia in Florence, you still have to wait on line, so best to arrive earlier than the schedule time.
The accommodations were great for the most part. The Hotel Ai Cavalieri di Venezia in Venice was beautiful and a great location. I wouldn't recommend the hotel in Cinque Terre, Hotel la Colonnina, as the walls were incredibly thin and we could hear everything happening in the hotel room next to ours. Everything. I would also recommend staying closer to Siena than Chianti as we spent most days driving south to explore those areas, while only one day around Chianti. Salvondica was beautiful though would save on drive time in Tuscany.
Appreciated the ground transportation scheduled and the WhatsApp messages from Jessica informing us of the name and number of whom would be meeting us in each location.
Would prefer to receive an itemized list of what my money is paying for rather than just the aggregate sum. It's convenient to have someone draft the itinerary and book the accommodations, etc. though I believe this cost more than if I had done the research and bookings myself.

This was our favorite hotel of the trip. The lobby, bar/restaurant and room were all clean, comfortable and modern. The breakfast was delicious and had a large variety. Especially loved the bloody mary and mimosa bar at breakfast. Very close to the sights and many restaurants and shops.

The Rome Food Tour in a golf cart was a bit confusing to us. The description we received did not match the actual tour. We expected multiple food stops and some sightseeing, but the tour mainly involved visiting a food market. Our guide was pleasant and knowledgeable, and he did his best to accommodate some sightseeing upon our request. Overall, it was still a decent experience, but not what we anticipated based on the description.

The Pisa Half-Day Tour was enjoyable, but we found that the time scheduled for us to be in Pisa was a bit too long. We ended up taking an earlier train back to Florence, which worked out fine as no one checked our tickets. After a big travel day and a long train ride, jumping back into reality at a busy train station is a bit of a shock. Being met at our arrival was a very easy and comfortable way to ease into our stay. She explained a lot of things about how the water taxis worked and how to get around, all this on the way to the hotel. Very glad we had this.

Marta planned the trip and we were very disappointed in her planning. She did not tell us how remote the hotel in Agrigento was. We could not walk into town and Could not get a taxi or an uber. A hotel employee drove us in his personal car. The tour in the Valley of the Temples was supposed to be a small group but was over 40 people and was conducted in Italian and English. It was a waste. We could not walk into town.. The hotel in Siracusa was horrible. There were no services. The... Read more

Salvadonica-Borgo del Chianti is an outstanding hotel, beautiful views, comfortable spacious rooms. The meal selection and wine list are unparalleled. The staff continued to impress each and everyday. I look forward to my return!

All of our guides were wonderful! We enjoyed all of their knowledge and passion that they had for their jobs. Meeting the guides in hotel lobby was the easiest and least confusing . Really enjoyed the private or small group tours the best. All of our drivers were on time and very polite. We arrived on time to all of our destination's. Read more

This hotel had a great location- Just steps away from the Spanish steps and Trevi fountain. The rooms are in need of updating but they were clean. Over all probably our least favorite hotel of the trip.

Alessandro was the best! Our group was on 6 people, I strongly recommend seeing this venue with a small group. There is so much to see and all of it is almost too much to take in. Alessandro was very good at explaining the things that we were seeing.

We were not able to locate our guide for this tour so we missed it. We arrived 30 minuets early and asked directions from several different people and still were not able to find the meeting place.
