With a week in Guatemala, you and your family can take a deep dive into the beauty and culture of Antigua and Lake Atitlán, opting for a highlights tour complete with an El Paredon beach day. For those with young ones eager to learn about Guatemala's history, let their imagination run wild on temples, pyramids, and a wildlife trip that includes two days in Tikal National Park. Or, if you'd like to spend plenty of time in nature, embark on a young explorer's tour and tick off visits to Semuc Champey, Lanquín, and Candelaria.

Guatemala's relatively small size means you can comfortably cover four to five destinations with the family in tow in 10 days. Get active with the kids and hike Pacaya volcano and kayak Lake Atitlán. Add El Paredon to the mix to release turtle hatchlings into the wild; or, fly to the island city of Flores to wander the ancient Maya ruins of Tikal National Park. Intrepid families might consider an expedition with the whole gang camping out on a still-active volcano or sticking to Flores and the Caribbean coast for plenty of fun in the sun and watersports.

Kids will love colorful Guatemalan culture

This relaxed tour is split between Antigua and Lake Atitlán and takes easy trips from both places, so you and your kids won't feel rushed. Learn about Guatemala's fascinating history in the colonial-era city of Antigua and the Iximché ruins, be amazed by lake and volcano views, as well as local handicrafts at Lake Atitlán, and much more.

With two weeks in Guatemala, you can take the family to visit at least three destinations. First-timers can hit the highlights through cultural, outdoor, and culinary experiences in Antigua, Lake Atitlán, and Flores. El Paredon offers animal encounters, including horseback riding and a visit to a turtle conservation. Active, outdoorsy families can go camping in Acatenango, and those keen on a multicountry trip can experience the markets, hiking, and ruins in Guatemala and then go snorkeling and sunbathing in Belize.

We had an incredible experience booking our trip through Kimkim. From start to finish, everything felt seamless, organized, and thoughtfully planned. Traveling can sometimes be stressful, but Kimkim truly made the entire process easy and enjoyable.

A huge shoutout to Antonio (aka Bobby), who went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. His attention to detail, responsiveness, and genuine care made a big difference throughout our trip. It felt like we were in great hands the entire time.

We also had the pleasure of meeting the team in person. Sofia, Kathy (cariño!), and the rest of the staff , and they were all incredibly warm, welcoming, and professional. That personal connection really elevated the experience and made it feel even more special.

Every detail, from transportation to accommodations and activities, was well-coordinated and exceeded our expectations. We’re truly grateful for such a memorable and stress-free trip.

Highly recommend Kimkim to anyone looking for a well-curated, personalized travel experience. We would absolutely book with them again.

My trip to Antigua, Guatemala was an experience I will never forget. I had reached out to Alex to help me fulfill a bucket list item--spending Holy Week in Antigua, to see the carpets of flowers and the religious processions. He designed a custom trip for me that included the religious aspects and so much more. During my five-day stay, I took a boat ride on Lake Atitlán, saw the preparations for the processions and the process of carpet-making up close, visited a coffee farm, a family chocolate factory, a macadamia nut farm, and had a textile lesson. I attended Mass on Easter Sunday, including yet another procession. I was booked at the beautiful resort-like hotel, La Porta. All the while, I had a personal guide, Diana, who explained the history and customs of everything I saw. Our driver, Manuel, skillfully drove us everywhere we needed to go. Alex was always available for questions and help. He even met me at the airport when I arrived to introduce himself. All in all, it was a beautiful, meaningful experience. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and cared for. I am so glad I did this. I definitely recommend KimKim for special trips like the one I just enjoyed.
