From a beautiful and very modern cities of Tokyo and Osaka through more traditional places such as Kanazawa and Kyoto, we experienced the new styles and ways of living with the old traditions. We will never forget the skyscrapers of Tokyo and Osaka and their amazing skylines and vibrant night life. But also, we will always remember the honesty and openness of people who helped us navigate the subway and train system in many cities. What surprised me the most were the lavish and green forests with many familiar and unfamiliar species of flora and fauna. We enjoyed hiking the Old Takayama Road with an amazing views of Mount Fuji, taking a boat trip across a lake in Hakone, visiting many Japanese gardens and learning the skills of making the matcha tea, ramen noodles and sushi.
The food was superb in every place we visited. The sweetness of strawberries that we bought at the local markets was the highlight of our culinary experiences. Although we wish that some of our hotels were in a better localizations or the rooms were a bit bigger, Simon tried to solve the problems and provided solutions to our satisfaction.
Our tour guides, specifically Slash and Johnny were superb! We enjoyed Johnny’s sense of humor and Slash’s gentle and patient guidance!
All of our drivers were courteous, prompt and punctual. Thank you!
We highly recommend taking this trip!

6. Sushi making activity was great fun - very enjoyable
7. Instructions on how to find Hakone hotel would have been helpful, for example “the hotel is walking distance from the station. Walk up the hill from the train station. Entrance is via a gated path and signage is in Japanese only”
8. Takayama - not enough time to visit the museum and do sake tasting without paying driver and guide overtime. Not sure why that happened?
9. Takayama - long drive for 1 hour monkey visit.
10. Loved the tea ceremony and sushi making class.
11. Hotel in Tokyo in great location.
12. The guides who were provided were all good, and Johnny, who accompanied the Tokyo leg of our trip, was outstanding.

While we appreciated his knowledge about the places we were visiting, his knowledge about what food areas to avoid as they were more for tourist experiences, and where to go for the best “real” Japanese food was always spot on. We could not have been happier with his suggestions. Our family left Japan with a better understanding of the culture, religion, and of course food! Visiting a variety of shrines, temples, and palaces along with a hands on bento box cooking class, private geisha tea ceremony where we had an opportunity to talk with the geisha and ask questions, and learning how to forge our own knives- literally we had so many wonderful experiences it is impossible to name a favorite one. Our family will 100% be using kim kim for our next trip!

The Shiba Park Hotel in Tokyo was a nice place to stay. Initially, I thought we would have to take transportation everywhere, but it turned out most places were within walking distance, about a mile to a mile and a half away. The hotel was not located right in the heart of the action, but it was easy to figure things out. The staff was great, and overall, I was happy with the accommodation.

Alisa did fine. It would have helped if she had put the correct people together in hotel rooms to save us about an hour on the first check-in when they had completely random rooms assigned. She obviously doesn't know anything about hokkaido. We didn't need to spend one night in sapporo. We easily could have gotten up early and gone straight to the airport. It was a waste of a whole day since we didn't actually have time to see sapporo. The hilton niseko is not very good and I think another part of the mountain like hirafu would have been better to stay. It would be better to ask for help from other guides who are familiar with the ski culture.

The ski in ski out is great. There's not much to do in terms of bars and food which are not very good, and there's no shops or restaurants to go to besides what's in the hotel. The shuttle going to hirafu is very convenient though.

Hi Vanessa,

Thank you for your feedback. I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed the overall trip. I'm also very happy to know that you were satisfied with our tour guides.

Regarding the issues you raised, I will be more careful to double-check the room assignment with the hotels in advance to save time on check-in. And the reason for suggesting an overnight stay in Sapporo instead of Niseko was mainly due to the frequent heavy snowfall and potential road closures in the Hokkaido region during this season. If your group of 10 were to miss your flight due to weather conditions, it would cause significant inconvenience.

Your suggestions are very helpful to us. I will pay more attention to confirming customers information with hotels in the future and will also strengthen communication with our customers.

I hope we have the opportunity to serve you again in the future!

The pre-planning of the trip and the tours that were set up were all excellent. Our guide in Tokyo and to Mt. Fuji - Allen - was wonderful. The only complaint I have is that our hotel check-ins took more than half and hour each time because the names for who would be occupying the rooms were completely screwed up. This caused quite a bit of confusion at check in. Kim Kim had all of our families names and knew who should be sharing rooms but somehow the room assignments were somewhat random.

I sincerely apologize for the issues encountered during hotel check-ins. I understand how frustrating it can be when there are discrepancies in room assignments. Even though I have provided hotels with correct names for each guest and their respective room assignments, unfortunately, it appears there was still a miscommunication or error.

I value your feedback and appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I hope this experience hasn't diminished your overall enjoyment of the trip.

We were very impressed with the professionalism and enthusiasm displayed by all members of the KimKim team. The trip was truly an amazing experience from our first contact with Kate through Mr. Jeon’s drop off at the Seoul airport. I will not hesitate to recommend KimKim, and we will not hesitate to use your services in the future ( no need to send weekly emails). Sorry to be a broad brush stroke but everybody was good, proactive, attentive, polite, and would be rated highly. The hotels... Read more

Sorry to be a broad brush stroke but everybody was good, proactive, attentive, polite, and would be rated highly. The hotels were all above average - the Mercure in Takayama was our favorite - the Excel in Shibuya probably our least favorite but still very acceptable. The itineraries which Kate developed were wonderfully executed by the team members. I have one suggestion - we had a driver in Takayama - probably not necessary / we took buses in Kyoto, which was interesting , but very time consuming. A driver in Kyoto may have been a better use of resources. Thanks for asking for my feedback. Keep up the good work!!!!!! Best regards, Adrian
