The small village of Laragh is the gateway to County Wicklow,  a verdant swath of mountains and coastline that's sometimes described as “the garden of Ireland.” In the west, you can chart a course for the Wicklow Mountains, taking scenic drives through glacial-carved valleys and hiking up to some impressive lookouts. East Wicklow has pretty seaside towns set with serene harbors and top-notch restaurants. County Wicklow also has historic sites, including Glendalough, an ancient monastic site founded by St Kevin in the 5th century. On the coast, the seaside town of Bray is the starting point for a scenic clifftop walk to the village of Greystones
