The small village of Laragh is the gateway to County Wicklow,  a verdant swath of mountains and coastline that's sometimes described as “the garden of Ireland.” In the west, you can chart a course for the Wicklow Mountains, taking scenic drives through glacial-carved valleys and hiking up to some impressive lookouts. East Wicklow has pretty seaside towns set with serene harbors and top-notch restaurants. County Wicklow also has historic sites, including Glendalough, an ancient monastic site founded by St Kevin in the 5th century. The surrounding landscape of lakes, mountains and greenery of every shade has long captivated visitors. 

County Wicklow has an abundance of natural wonders, including waterfalls. Among the most impressive is Powerscourt Waterfall, Ireland’s highest cascade at 397 feet (121 m). The surrounding trails are home to 200-year-old beach and oak trees as well as Giant Redwoods. Nearby, you can see some of Wicklow’s most famous gardens in the Powerscourt Estate. Further west, you can take a tour through the lavish art-filled Russborough House and expansive grounds with various themed trails - including an enchanting path for fairy lovers. On the coast, the seaside town of Bray is the starting point for a scenic clifftop walk to the village of Greystones
